Ancelotti getting outcoached here. Should have taken a page out of Barça's playbook and pinned back Juanfran as much as possible. You didn't see either RB or LB for Atlético near the box vs. Barça. Today, they were instrumental in both goals.

Greizmann and Arda.... straight man crush right now on those two.

Announcer 1: Considering the attacking half for Atletico has scored 3 and the defense has only allowed Real 2 shots and neither on goal, which half has been more impressive?

Announcer 2: The first half.

:whoosh:

My point is that it wasn't violence that gave Atlético the opportunities, but rather intensity and concentration in the midfield. Smart passes, smart tackles, smart runs combined with a willingness to go to ground and make a challenge. Real simply hasn't looked ready to cope with that this season vs. Atlético. Part of that today was no Marcelo, who give Atleti fits. Barça certainly has pinned Atleti back on the wings this season unlike Real.

Anyway, I'd rather have my team lose their cool every once in a while instead of laying down like Barça last season. They looked like they simply wanted it to end.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just like I didn't after the Copa tie.

Barcelona was eliminated in each competition by a single goal. That isn't laying down. Get this stupid #### out of here. :lmao:

Decided to play a drinking game where I chug every time Hargreaves mispronounces a name. I now have Charlie Bukowski's liver.
What a weird accent on that guy. Is that what all Canadian-Brits sound like? He wasn't very good either. Tried why too hard and talked way too much.

Giroud and Ramsey had bad days (save for Giroud's assist). I thought both of them should have come off instead of Cazorla and Welbeck. Welbeck was great. I don't think it ends with this score if Welbeck stayed on and Giroud hit the bench.

Barcelona mailed in the last few games of la Liga last season and you know it. Nearly the entire team looked like they were playing not to get hurt before the World Cup instead of laying it all out.

btw- Spurs were really good today. looked like the team that knew they were in a Derby... Arsenal played decently in spurts, but were out worked most of the field. was Alexi taking a break today? they missed him.

Sanchez is hurt. Missed the last couple.

congrats, Z- to a neutral, that's a pretty shocking result.
Honestly, just the scoreline, but not the 3 points. Real is dinged up and Atlético has played very well at home under Simeone. Plus, as I've said before, this team is built to beat Real Madrid, whereas last year's team was built to beat Barça.

Atletico earned less points than Barcelona over the last month of the season. So did Real Madrid. They must have mailed it in even more. Quit making stuff up and just enjoy your historic win.

After Eljero Elia got kicked in the gonads yesterday, the Southern Daily Echo in Southampton ran a sidebar today with the headline "Elia: Everything is OK with my balls!"

How does a team with Rooney, van Persie, Falcao, and Di Maria on the field look so offensively inept?
Because they lose the midfield battle in just about every game now. They need to sit Falcao or RVP, push Rooney up, put ADM out wide and IMO play Herrera more. And hope Carrick gets back soon.

Who is the play supposed to go through? They're missing a true glue player centrally IMO.
:goodposting: I thought that was going to be Herrera but he needs more playing time.

totally agree.

the games I've seen with Herrara, their shape looks as good as it has all season. Move the ball well going forward, and defend the ball well going back.
