Not that it was unexpected but ESPN is reporting that AC Milan has offered the Galaxy $6.3M as a transfer fee for Becks. The Galaxy have not yet accepted the offer. If you were LA/MLS, how would you handle this situation?
tough one here. Beckham's season at LA was highly disappointing, injury filled, team was bad, etc... But, he did bring a spotlight to the league like no other before him. If he comes back, does that spotlight stay on again this year? Maybe, but I think it will wear thin fairly quickly as the casual fan will see that one player can't really dominate, you need a team to be good. I didn't read all the details of the transfer, and how much LA would be on the hook for subsequent years, etc.... But, if I were LA, I think I'd want to make sure Beckham 100% wants to come back and play in the states before rejecting the transfer. I couldn't help but catch some of the Milan game this weekend, and that team is loaded and I think Beckham enjoys playing on the highest stage all the time (United, Real, Milan - these are not just good teams, these are storied franchises). If he isn't 100% committed, I think maybe accept the transfer, bolster up the finances and try going after other, mid-tier star type players that could be great at the MLS level. Just the way I think about it.Other tidbits from the EPL....Keane back to Spurs? Wow, I know Keane's time at Liverpool hasn't been great, and he's been very unhappy about his playing time, but Liverpool would be making a big mistake (imo) in letting Keane go. Of course I'm not privy to the back story and his relationship with Benitez, but Liverpool struggles to score, and Torres is a very good player, but he needs someone else up top with him to open the game, and Kuyt is not that guy. I'm not sure why Keane isn't getting full games to be honest, he makes a perfect compliment to Torres

Spurs need a striker. Pavlychenko has been nothing short of dreadful this year. Bent is highly skilled, but probably best served as a reserve striker. Losing Berbatov killed their attack. They brought back Defoe, and he's decent, bringing back Keane would be a pretty big coup here. Of course, their biggest concern is defense/goal and with King and Gomes hurt, right now they are teetering on relegation which would be a pretty big story. Another team bordering on relegation is Bolton - and they just made a big money bid to Veloso from Sporting. I recall United was after him for a while (although I'm hoping they make a bid for Sergio Ramos still), and this is really not like Bolton - but I think they need to do something. Dropping from the premiership costs a club millions and millions of dollars, and while some clubs are tight with the proverbial purse strings, I think they see that sometimes you need to spend a little to make a little.Lastly, Arshavin to Arsenal is getting sewed up the last I heard. I'd be really, really, really interested to see this happen. Gunners lost a ton in the midfield/attack and Arshavin seems a guy perfectly suited to play there, keeps the ball on the ground, quick, crisp passes, makes great runs. I hope he makes a bigger impact (if he goes) on the EPL than Pavlychenko has. Russia was a fun team to watch Euro2008
