Every human being who is grabbed with the hair only with the uh with sex mashochisma

"This is from a coach who has a history of doing this, so it should be a surprise to absolutely nobody. And when you look at it, if you are a human being, you will realize that that is not acceptable. And it’s not acceptable in 2016. Quite honestly, it’s never been acceptable."

Much like when Saints thumped Arsenal at Christmas, I think they caught a good team not very prepared to play a high intensity level match today. The energy level was pretty one-sided. Still, it's reassuring to know that the CL clubs have to bring their A game to St. Mary's or risk getting drubbed. Leading scorer didn't even play today, either.

It's also gratifying to look back at how much Southampton has improved since the beginning of the season and the credit for that pretty much has to go to One Ronald Koeman. I don't think it's a mystery why there are continuing whispers about him regarding Barcelona, the man can coach a little. But I hope they keep him for another year to pick up the pieces after they lose Pelle, Mane and maybe Human Yellow Card Victor Wanyama this summer. The Guardian floated the rumor that United will be offering Memphis and cash for Mane but Guardian transfer rumors are admittedly for funsies.

COYS!

Personal philosophy I guess.  I liken it to the prevent defense in football.  If you're up 3 scores late, sure.  But Leicester is best when they have guys like Mahrez stretching the field.  United looked more in control in the second half but Leicester had their chances.  No way of knowing, but I suspect United would've had a better chance to break them down had they bunkered with 10 behind the ball and Ulloa or Mahrez making long runs.  By keeping the game fluid, end to end, it forces United's strikers to beat Leicester's defenders, rather than allowing United to get their entire team lurking around Leicester's 18.

Plus, how awesome would it have been to win the title at Old Trafford??
Literally have no idea how to respond to this.

I've always enjoyed watching soccer but I only tuned in every 4 yrs for World Cup and occasional friendlies that I might happen to see were on.  Things that helped me really get into and change my whole perception:

1)  Understanding the whole league, club, international stuff that I laid out in my post.  It's overwhelming for someone that is unfamiliar with it even though it isn't that complicated.  Even just knowing the season starts and what's going on when is a huge help

2)  Subscribe to Soccer on TV and see what's going on each day.  It's amazing the amount of soccer played on a regular basis.  This helps keep track and you can easily find what might interest you.  Here's a link to today's schedule, for example.  You can click on it daily or you can get a daily email that has that schedule included:  http://www.socceramerica.com/article/68530/soccer-on-tv.html

3)  Join a soccer fantasy league.  I joined the EPL FFA league here a few years ago and it was meant just to help me learn about the players.  When you have to do that research to draft and watch as the season goes on, it can help.  After the 1st year, it made a HUGE difference.

4)  Read this thread.  It's always near the top.  Aside from Ron's loaning chick's money thread, it's the best thread here.  Everyone is cool (well, maybe, well....ah, nm) and no one else comes in and bothers.  Every 4 years, people will come in and momentarily crap on soccer, but otherwise it's just awesome.  You'll learn a lot just from reading as well as keep up with stuff easier.  Oh, and you'll laugh a good bit once you get into it.  And you'll see lots of topless Ronaldo.

My $.02 to help you get into it if you want.
thanks for the posts.  i had a longer response typed, but internet dropped out and don't have the energy to re-write it.  Fantasy angle is interesting.  Sure my wife would love that.

Nobody has qualified for automatic promotion from Championship yet. Middlesbrough, Burnley and Brighton are in a dogfight for the top two places. Hull, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday have clinched the other three playoff spots.

GULLS!

Today's game might actually be the easiest one Spurs have left. Chelsea has talent but nothing to play for. But Southampton is very much alive for a Europa spot (which they actually like) and they finish with a desperate and still breathing Newcastle. They could get nine points out of that but it won't be handed to them.

Leicester had controlish of the 2nd half of the first half and the first half of the second half.  They seemed to have run themselves into the ground after the 70 minute mark.  They seemed to go for it in the first 15 minutes right after halftime, but just didn't connect.

BTW, yesterday was a great exhibit of Leicester defensive philosophy.  You don't see many teams readily give up that many crosses willingly especially with someone like :fro:  in the box.  Both Simpson and to a lesser extent ***hs pinch in a touch more than the typical back these says to avoid getting turned.  If they don't get turned, it also mean Morgan and Huth don't get turned which means those two gave deal with most crosses.  It also helps immensely that Schmeichel is athletic.

From the way the players are talking, its Chelsea's superbowl today - even Pedro, which is kind of funny. The away fans were singing about beating Spurs at the end of the game last week at Bournemouth. Other than pride/tradition though, the game is truly meaningless for Chelsea. Although it may technically end Spurs title hopes today, I think most fans and likely even players have already accepted that LC has won the title.

Onerous as it is for me, I will be pulling for Chelski today. Not only for Leicester but I need an unmotivated Spurs eleven to show up Sunday.

The only reason I want Spurs to win today is because I'd rather Leicester win it themselves at home for their fans.

Knocking a London rival out of competition to win the league should be a lot to play for.

I want LC to wrap this up -- would hate to see it get away from them.  Last two weeks (red cards, PKs given/not, nerves, suspensions) show how easily things can go off the rails.

Caveat Emptor.  Tottenham is +634 betting line (to win) while Chelsea is @ -250...can't recall when I've seen such a skewed, sweet line;  at least since when Canaggia & Maradonna  roomed together.  WTF?

I don't know why you guys are doubting my prediction of today's game. I'm the guy who successfully called City's routine thrashing of Southampton.

Saints reportedly looking to sign Dres Mertens from Napoli...that would be so sweet.  He's an extremely underrated footballer, IMO...because he's surplus goods there, always coming off the bench.  Mane & Mertens, with Tadic pulling the strings...mighty fine.

I feel like I should know this guy but I haven't seen nearly as much Serie A as I have the previous two years. Just enough to want to have Icardi's love child.

I'm pretty sure the money waved at them for Mane will be too good to pass up and I also think Graz Pelle will go home to Italy. Still, that leaves Long, Rodriguez and Charlie Football for Tadic to feed plus whoever they pick up with the Mane/Pelle cash.

The guy I really worry about losing is Virgil van Dijk. Things really started to get better after he was signed.

Oddschecker has it at... 36% Chelsea, 36%, Tottenham, 28% Draw

Almost 2/3 chance title is decided today.

You havent watched many United games have you?  The only threat he posses in the air is a soft pass to the keeper.  I have been waiting all season for the "Aerial Threat" people and especially the announcers keep talking about.

What a good game aside from the usual trash from Michael Oliver.  Why in the world would they assign that piece of garbage to a game of this size?  He has absolutely no clue or business reffing an epl game.

Fellaini and Huth should both see bans.

Memphis should have had a PK to end the game.

Rooney was lucky to not get a 2nd yellow for tugging Grey (which is all it takes from Oliver).

Surprising LC didnt get a foul and see red on Lingard's breakaway.  Not sure I agree it should have been a foul, but its usually called.

No LC didnt deserve a PK for Rojo.  Yes his left leg came out but when you get run over like that are you expected to just disappear so a player can get by?  If only there was charging to be called like in the NBA. Maybe I have some rosy glasses on, but thats my opinion and would listen to reasons why LC deserved a PK.

Thank you City for tossing the game away this weekend.  Lets hope they do the same for Arsenal.

These are Kafkaesque odds to be sure. I'm seeing the sides virtually even for a win, with a draw slightly favored.

Gulls fan here. I've contained myself thus far this season and cannot any longer!!!

Today's results have promoted Burnley back to the Premier League. 'Boro host the Seagulls for the final guaranteed promotion slot Saturday morning. Loser gets Sheffield Wednesday in round 1 of the home and home playoff. 'Boro wiped the floor with us at Amex Stadium earlier in the year 3-0. Game should be all out as a draw does Brighton no good.

GO GULLS!!!

A genuine Brighton and Hove effing Albion fan. Who knew?

Let's keep loading up on south coast clubs in PL. Where are you, Portsmouth? Oh, never mind.

He has been a good super-sub for them.  A lot of attacking talent in Napoli

Totti, The King of Rome, strikes again.  You guys must see this 39 & 1/2 year old's free kick golazo to tie the game in the 80th minute, as a substitute, ultimately leading to an all important 3-2 victory.  Forza Totti!  Forza Charvik!

Good Bundesliga relegation battle on right now (FS1) between Stuttgart and Werder Bremen.

3-2 to Bremen in the 63rd minute.

Stuttgart currently 15th (of 18) with 33 points

Bremen are 17th with 31 points.

WTH... Leicester and Spurs have a side bet on the number of stupid red cards and suspensions they can accumulate on the run in?

Vardy, Alli, Huth, Dembele.
