Barcelona wins 5-0, Real Madrid wins 3-2 and Atletico lose 1-2

leaving

Barcelona 28-4-5 88
Real Madrid 27-6-4 87
Atletico 27-4-6 85

This elimnates Atletico, right?
Unless Atletico can win by 40 goals, and Barcelona loses and RM draws.

ETA - or do they have head-to-head tiebreakers?

I got no beef with the play. There's no god given right to the offside trap working in every instance. Defenders have to pay attention to everyone.

But more importantly how do we all like this late season charge by Southampton?
Tadic and Davis won my game for me today.

From his interview today it sounded like he wants to stay.
There's Only One Ronald Koeman has stated that he intends to finish out his contract -- one year left on it -- but management has made it known that they won't stand in his way if one of the really big clubs comes calling.

Rumors also circulate around the league that the club is interested in Eddie Howe somewhere down the line of succession as a possible long term manager. I think he'd fit into the system pretty nicely.

Tadic has been tremendous in this recent run. He had the assist on the first score and the last pass on the second. He had three final passes last week against Citeh, including a brilliant feed to Shane Long for the opener. Two goals from Steven Davis is a gift from heaven.

An interesting guy for Saints in light of the looming losses of Pelle and Mane is loanee Gaston Ramirez, who may have been Middlesbrough's best player on their promotion drive. If they can't replace the aforementioned two guys, he and Jay Rodriguez may team up with Long for the meat of the front line. I think that's a step down from this year but still better than some.

5th and 6th place scenarios-

6th: Europa League group stage UNLESS: Crystal Palace win the FA Cup OR Manchester United win FA Cup and finish 5th or higher, in which case Europa league qualification round

7th: Europa League qualification round UNLESS: Crystal Palace win the FA Cup OR Manchester United win FA Cup and finish 6th or higher, in which case no European football.

Rich get richer.

Bayern add Hummels and Renato Sanches. :(
Hummels signs for FC Bayern

This has to be disheartening for Dortmund fans, and all other Bundesliga clubs.  You would think big clubs like this could offer enough money to compete against Bayern and hold on to their top players, but I guess Bayern's pockets are too deep.  Personally I'm glad to see them bringing in a German player.  The overall squad has become less and less German over the years.

Mjolnirs... how much of it is that Bayern is perceived as being directly linked to the National Team?  Dortmund has enough $$ to keep their top stars, no?

Dortmund was underwater this year basically what he transfer fee was.  Granted CL would help some, but it's tough when they want to balance their books.  Maybe it helps them hold onto some of the other guys though.

Red Bull Leipzig has completed their rise through the German system.

2009 Red Bull purchases SSV Markranstadt

2009-2010: RBL wins Nofv Berliga (5th division) promoted to Regionalliga Nord

2012-2013: RBL wins Regionalliga Nord (4th division) promoted to 3. Liga

2013-2014: RBL comes in 2nd in 3. Liga (3rd division) promoted to 2. Bundesliga

2015-2016: RBL comes in 2nd in 2. Bundesliga promoted to the Bundesliga

In their first season, they averaged 2150 fans.

They are in talks now to build a new 80,000 seat stadium.

It's curious to me the Germans are so outraged with Red Bull sponsoring a club and making it successful, while Bayern just poached another Dortmund star with the current season not even completed.

Of the 14 players to see the field in the World Cup final, 7 played for Bayern at the time. (Neuer, Lahm, Boateng, Schweinsteiger, Müller, Kroos and Götze)  Kroos was on his way to Real Madrid thought.
Of the other 7: Klose was with Lazio, but had been on Bayern before.  Hummels, Höwedes and Kramer were on Bundesliga squads.  Özil, Schürrle and Mertesacker were in the EPL.

I can see how that would be a thought process for a player, but Hummels has been on Die Nationalmannschaft since 2010.
Interestingly Hummels was in the Bayern youth program at the age of six, and saw the field once for the top squad once in '07 before being loaned to Dortmund in '08.  The 'loan' part went away in '09.  So, it's really a homecoming for him.

Is it as simple as East-West bias?  I mean there technically isn't an East German club currently in the league and Cottbus (I'm sure there are others) aren't exactly household names.

I don't think so. I think hatred for RB Leipzig its entirely related to the corporate ownership, the new (foreign) money nature of the club and its quick ascent from nothing into the top level of German soccer. They've also done an obvious end-around the corporate naming rules with the"Rasenballsport Leipzig" thing, which pisses everyone off. Its very curious and I can't claim to fully understand it. German fans hated Hoffenheim with a bizarre level of passion, even though that club was older than Bayern Munich and was built from the ground up with money from a Hoffenheim native, and only used a few foreigners (several Ami's). Wolfsburg is also resented due to its association with VW. Meanwhile, Leverkusen is strangely given a pass, as is Bayern's close relationship with Adidas  - I've no idea why. They love their 50+1 rule and seem so proud of it, but look what happened to the red-headed step child of the Bayer Corporate football group - Bayer Uerdigan. When I first lived in Germany in the mid 80's Uerdigan was riding a high and was actually more successful than the preferred Leverkusen for several years. I recall seeing them play Atletico Madrid in a Cup semi-final, lead by Mattias Herget - one of my faves. Bayer pulled its sponsorship from Uerdigan in the mid 90's and the club sank like a rock. I think its basically a semi-pro team now.

I have never called them this for some reason.  It is like I have filtered it out completely.  Probably because I see Red Bull used in MLS, and Austria and never really thought any other name.

From wiki, here is how the name came about:

====================

RB Leipzig became the fifth football club in the Red Bull sporting portfolio, following FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, the New York Red Bulls in the US. Red Bull Brasil in Brazil and the Red Bull Ghana in Ghana.[22] In contrast to previous clubs, RB Leipzig did not bear the corporate name. The statutes of the DFB would not permit the corporate name to be included in the club name.[19][22] Instead, the club adopted the unusual name "RasenBallsport", literally meaning "Lawn Ball Sports". But through the use of the initials "RB", which corresponds to the initials of the company,[3] the corporate identity could still be recognized.

UPDATE:  I finally have a favorite Bundesliguea team!

They also circumvent the beloved 50+1 rule by having a few Red Bull corporate execs serve as the sole club members, and make further membership open but cost-prohibitive. Again however, I think 50+1 is a myth, a false badge of pride for the Germans. .

Should have given a couple more reds two weeks ago, although he did show the yellow a record 9 times to one of the sides, 12 total.
Chelsea, huh?...Keep those filthy, "Roman",  "oil- stained" hands...away from our players...all three Chelsea targets scored Sunday; Nainggolan, Pjanic, & EVEN Rudiger.  Dislike.

re: Abrahamovic's "oil stained hands"...hyperbole obviously...No "Wages of Fear" here;  just hate how he's able to pull strings.  Actually, the last scene of said movie is apropos......LEAVE US SMALL CLUBS ALONE!
