Barcelona doubles up on young French defenders, signing Lucas Digne.  I always signed Digne for Barca on Football Manager :nerd: , so I have to give this signing my full endorsement.  It's nice to see Barcelona sign defenders with pace - hopefully they can stay fit, unlike Vermaelen or Mathieu
Digne was a stalwart for Roma last season...he pretty much started every game for them, rarely even being substituted.  He constantly pushed forward up the flank, & his work rate is exceptional.  His crossing was inconsistent, but he did have some beauties.  His weakness is definitely his defensive positioning, as he was often "caught out", & his one-on-one defense was weak.  He is still young, though, & his frailties can be compensated for with good coaching.  I would of liked Roma to keep him, but 16.5 euros was too high (at least for Roma).

I'm a little surprised that Unai Emery didn't even give Digne a shot to reestablish himself at PSG after his loan spell last year.

But then I am off to Wisconsin for a week, where I am not sure they even have internet
I love leaving an out of office message that offers no one any options to reach me.

If you are going to the northern sticks of Wisconsin, be advised the fish may be a bit skittish after the beating they took last week at the hands of CM Jr.

We are headed to more west/central area of the state - Warrens - for a family reunion.  Most of my relatives are up and down the eastern side of the state from Milwaukee to Green Bay - they picked Warrens because we have already done the Dells

Does not look like much is around there ...

Chelsea agree 29M pound deal with Leicester for Kante

Thoughts? Two seasons ago, Matic was the Chelsea DM of chioce. Now hes seemingly out of favor and will end up at Juve or Manchester United. Is Kante a suitable replacement?
If it happens.  Leicester fans are claiming this is rubbish.  I know Chelsea is a bigger team than Leicester, but for a guy trying to prove himself on the big level, I think I'd stick with Leicester this year and play in the CL.  He could net a bigger team than Chelsea next season (or even in the JAN window)

Did I miss the "Celtic losing to a semi-pro team on a goal scored by a full time police officer" chat?
This reminded me of an almost as embarrassing loss...Celtic 's "victory" against Legia Warsaw in the CL a couple years back...someone here posted a video of Warsaw Tifosi's protest/choreography with the "UEFA Fat Pig" then, & it still is one of the most amazing I've seen.  Rules.

The pay increase would be massive and there is no telling what could happen in a year.

Psyched to see my favorite EPL team Swansea play in Charlotte tonight.
Have fun!  These USA tours are awesome.  I'm headed to St. Louis in August to see LIV.
Yes they are.  I'd love to go see a couple more - pretty cool opportunity to see these guys.

Had a good time in Philly watching CP last night.  The speed difference between the two teams was pretty shocking.  And the size difference too - holy hell.  Had it not been for Philly's #2 and #3 keepers playing out of their minds last night, CP should've won 2 or 3 - 0.  You could tell CP's starters weren't 100% into the game - it became really apparent when they made a ton of second half subs and those guys were flying all around the ball.

Philly made some nice chances, but couldn't finish for ####.  One of them gave me bad flashbacks to Wondo. :X

One small thing that jumped out to me that kind of spoke to the difference between the MLS and the other major sports... they were running a friggin 50/50 raffle.

Wish I could get into these pre-season games, but dropping that kind of $$ to see reserves play in an exhibition match makes no sense to me.  Hope to get to Anfield once the kids are a bit older.

Did Palace bring the cheerleaders?

It's a chance to actually see the players.  Obviously it's not meaningful.  Also, the tickets really aren't that expensive.  I doubt any of them will be sold out and if they are, scalped tickets will be super cheap.

It was pretty funny to see so many CP supporters.  I've never seen someone out and about with a CP jersey, but there was probably an even 50/50 split of CP and Union jerseys last night.

:goodposting:   It was fun - my kids LOVED it.  I think what the EPL/MLS are doing with this is a great idea to get folks out to the games.  This was our first time going to an MLS stadium - it won't be our last.

I like going to the games if they have teams and/or players I'm interested in.  Will be going to Bayern vs Milan in a couple weeks.  Little interest in seeing Swansea vs Charlotte play at a stadium way out in the burbs that runs out of beer.  If you have kids, I think you go to any chance though.

Most of the Soton squad has been in the Baltimore area this week and I haven't been able to catch up with them.  Maybe tomorrow, if that's not too late. I wonder how those guys like 94 degrees and 99% humidity?

Friggin Puncheon had long sleeves on last night.

Bigger team? Barca aren't going to sign him, Bayern aren't going to sign him, maybe Real Madrid, ManU and City are pretty set in this position as well so a bigger team?

I think the tickets for the Swansea game cost me $25 and I was in the second row of a 4,000 seat stadium.  A much better experience then the big $$$$ I spent on seeing the ICC games the past 2 years.
