http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/story/uefa-confirms-new-champions-league-seeding-system-for-next-season-042215

UEFA will introduce a new seeding system for the Champions League next season.

UEFA has published Champions League regulations for next season confirming a seeding change to reward national league winners. Top-seeded teams in eight groups will be the defending Champions League winner plus titleholders in the seven highest-ranked countries. If the Champions League winner also wins its national title, then the eighth top-seeded team is the Netherlands champion. That is PSV Eindhoven, which is only 30th-ranked in UEFA's club standings.

Currently, top-seeded teams are the eight highest-ranked in a five-year results cycle in UEFA competitions.

The new system should elevate league-leading Juventus and Zenit St. Petersburg, plus France's champion. On current standings, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Porto will drop in status in the Aug. 27 draw. Real Madrid would also drop down if Barcelona wins the Champions League and Spanish league.
This is dumb and will create even more lopsided group draws than they already have.
How about we get rid of all the teams that aren't champions?

I thought Chicha was actually pretty good all game today. He had a few squandered chances and bad touches, but was very active and deserved the goal.

Club America scores very late to make the final score 1-1.

Montreal played very well even if it was all one way traffic as you would expect.

Should be an awesome atmosphere in Montreal next week.

It's astonishing how... Bad... They are. And yet, good for them. A win would've been historic though.

I don't watch that much Spanish soccer. But when I do- wow is there a lot of *cough* simulation. Every touch that's remotely 50/50 is going send at least one guy screaming through the air.

And #### pepe and Sergio Ramos. Ok... Pepe was actually on best behavior today. But #### him anyways.

Area though... Woof... Thug-life.

I saw it's a joke as it's obvious that the public doesn't care about it, and most die-hard fasn would rather their players NOT plan in the CWC due to injury and burnout concerns.
luckily fans don't make decisions for clubs in what they deem serious and what they don't.
I like watching my favorite team win titles :)

They are so out of their depth it isn't funny and yet they still have a somewhat realistic chance to win the whole thing. Funny sport this soccer.

Club America got some great home cooking though. They should have had a clear red card at end of first half when their defender tugged down Oduro on a clear breakaway. I have no idea how that was considered a foul by the ref but only a yellow.

Looks like Bush was given a yellow during that scrum there towards the end, so he'll have to sit out the second leg. And Kronberg is already cup-tied. Sooooo... good luck, Johnny Smits!

Is Smits from their USL side?

Oof

Bush played pretty well today under constant pressure.

Smits is on a two week loan from FC Edmonton - NASL keeper of the year in 2014

A guy from London has been at my wife's work the last few days, so I told her to ask him which club he supports. Arsenal, of course.

Simply for the scheduling chaos that would ensue, I'd like to see both Ukrainian and Zenit advance today.

Does that make me a bad person? :oldunsure:

so I guess people are upset with Chachi celebrating without giving CRO a handy or something?
No just Thierry Henry. He made a comment about Chicharito celebrating like he just won the world cup and the goal belongs to the unselfish Ronaldo.... Most people are calling out Henry calling it the worst statement a pundit has said. Oh and pointing out how much he celebrated after his double handball lead to the goal (which he didnt score) that put France into the WC and knocked Ireland out....

Yeah that's dumb. Chicharito's had a rough time at Real Madrid, he was frustrated all game, and he finally got a huge goal to win a huge game. Let him celebrate.

Yeah, so he sat in the box and waited for the pass. He's Chicharito. That's what he does.

The Club America Montreal game drew more than 1.7 million viewers. That is more than any EPL game has ever drawn in the US for viewers. The draw of Mexican soccer is so huge in the US.

Tuesday May 5th - Real Madrid @ Juventus

Wednesday May 6th - Bayern München @ Barcelona

Tuesday May 12th - Barcelona @ Bayern München

Wedensday May 13th - Juventus @ Real Madrid

MLS/US Soccer might be smart to start promoting/developing a US/Mexico rivalry at the club level. It's already a big deal at the NT level, and is a natural fit in terms of casual attention, but you don't hear too much about it at the MLS/Liga M level. Plus, they're signing more of our players these days and the Mexican league's quality is a more realistic stretch goal for MLS in the immediate future. Could be a thing in the near future.

Boo, I was hoping to see Bayern and Barca play in Berlin ;)
