whappen?

the spurs guy loaned to atlanta for real unity fc?
I assume he may be talking about the Molino deal which is being called the biggest trade in MLS history if the rumors are right.  Minnesota is supposedly sending a huge amount of allocation money (TAM and GAM) to Orlando.

I know it is impossible to know how the ingredients will mix come game day but I have to say I like so many of the moves Atlanta has made. This sounds like another solid young (24 years old) signing.============================Atlanta United today announced it has signed defender Leandro González Pirez from Club Estudiantes de La Plata of Argentina’s Primera División as a Discovery Signing. Signed with Targeted Allocation Money, Pirez will join the team upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.“We’re happy to have secured another player in his prime who has experience playing in his top domestic league,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said. “As we continue to build and assess our roster, we believe Leandro identifies an area of need for our club and we look forward to him making a difference in 2017 and beyond.”

For...who?
Kevin Molino flew under the radar last year but had a very good season for Orlando.  He scored 11 times and had 8 assists as a midfielder.

There is also a tie to Minnesota as Minnesota's coach Adrian Heath was the guy who signed Molino for Orlando back in 2015.

The group in San Diego has booked the USS Midway and have called for a massive press conference on the ship on Monday.  I wonder if they got some assurances that their plan was going to be accepted?

The momentum here is huge. Yuge, even. Bigly. Some he said/she said: the face man/money man for this, Nick Stone, has a brother. Yup. A BROTHER! Ok, that's not the news. The news is that this aforementioned brother is best friends with Don Garber.

There was a "Supporters Summit" at a bar last night where this guy talked and he's also been all over the radio. These guys/this plan are full tilt into this. It feels like they have been studying everything that the Chargers did wrong and have a plan for every drawback the Chargers had before anyone knew who they were. Meanwhile, our politicians are eager to show the country that they were not the problem. Spano was the problems. The city is very eager to do a deal that doesn't involve being subsidized.

I'll be on the Midway monday :pickle:

Why should we? All this talk about Atalanta, it's practically the Serie Ah thread!
Hey, gb...Speaking of Serie A, Soton seems resolute on acquiring Gabbiadini from Napoli.  I love this move; Manolo is an extraordinary attacking talent, but he has no fit in Coach Sarri's system.  I think you'll take a fancy to his chance creation & dribbling, but most of all, his outside shot.  Its exquisite.  He can pretty much score from anywhere outside the box, & frequently creates his own shot.  Think he'll fit well.

This came a bit out of left field, almost like they were waiting on the Charlotte and St Louis votes....

I'm going to Israel for work this week and just got tickets to the Maccabi Haifa - Maccabi Tel Aviv match.

Petty stoked to see a match in this part of the world. Anyone know anything about Israeli soccer? All I know is that they often play in Europa league and seem to do OK, but not great.

The defending champs and current table leaders finished ahead of Soton in the most recent group. A couple of scoreless draws, I think, and then a very weird tiebreaker system.

when I was 8, my family went to Israel.

one of those Maccabi teams were staying at one of our hotels... ended up in a giant public brawl in the dining room/restaurant- found out later over wages of some kind. that should pretty much cover it. have fun!

One of them beat Internazionale @ the San Siro earlier this year, but who hasn't?

HAR DEE HAR HAR

Actually, they're on fire, having won 8 straight in all competitions (6 in Serie A) & more importantly, moving past AC Milan.  They're a completely different team since Stefano Pioli took over.  Perisic is a terror on the wings, Icardi is doing Icardi things, & Joao Mario is developing into one of the best young mids in Serie A.

*This concludes Kafka's annual AzzuriMerda wrap-up

That sounds like it would be a blast.

In the biggest off season deal in MLS teams continue to plunder financially strapped Argentine clubs.

The latest deal involves Portland buying Sebastian Blanco for $5m from San Lorenzo.

San Lorenzo must be really hurting because Blanco donated his 15% of the transfer fee back to the club.

This should give Portland the best attack in the league with Blanco joining Nagbe, Adi and Valeri.

You forgot Adu :P

Ivanovic is likely headed to Zenit for 3.5 years which ends a fantastic nine year run at Chelsea. Arguably one of the teams most astute signings, he cost 9M pounds and started 375 games over the last 9 seasons. He scored as many big goals for CFC as anyone over the last nine seasons.

I love unique players, and there wasn't any right back like Ivanovic.  I'll be sad to see him go off my radar.
