Did something change? I thought it was announced last week that NYC bought him out which got him off NY's books entirely and left him up to the league to deal with.

Talked to the wife....we're going!!
Spoke to my son's classmate's mother who went last year. They went as a family and she said it was the best family vacation they've had....just an amazing experience. I'm taking requests of what you want me to do at the Emirates during the tour as well as at Stamford Bridge........

Even with a buyout, they were always on the hook for the salary, it just didn't count against the salary cap.

I don't think this is correct. I believe the league is on the hook for the salary, not NYC. Since Mix was not a DP, NYC never paid one penny towards his salary even before the buyout.

Right, but people have mentioned that the buyout is not the same cost as his salary, and that it is more like a nominal fee. But you could be right in that it matches his salary exactly.

I doubt his buyout was a nominal fee since his salary was fully guaranteed this year, but who the hell knows.

They usually don't mention length of contract but in Mix's case do you remember if anyone said how many years he signed for? I wonder if NY had to pay for just this year or for the whole contract (assuming years beyond this season were guaranteed).
It also makes me wonder, if Mix does transfer, I wonder if NY gets back the buyout money.....The ultra complicated flow chart only handles incoming players, we need a new leg for outgoing now

In another step where MLS is trying to slowly make things more transparent, they have now released roster details for ever team and show how every player is classified.
If you want a good chuckle, look at the Revs roster. It is so embarrassing we can't even fill out a basic squad. :(

So SKC has a player that is on the reserves which is both HG (Home Grown) and INTL (International). Would this be someone that is from another country but moved to the States and then joined the academy? Like Derrick Jones, I assume?

yes that is how I read it. As players stay in the league and eventually receive green cards, they can the be removed from INTL status.

Hirving Lozano is considered one of the best young players in Mexico right now. At 21, he has numerous big Euro team inquiring about him while playing for Pachuca.
He went down with a nasty injury a couple of days ago from US player Micheal Orozco. This link contains a picture of what happened after the late tackle.

I don't know the extent of the injury but I am sure Dallas must be paying attention as they play Pachuca in the CCL Semifinals.

I'm pretty sure he was on a 3 year guaranteed contract, so this was the last year. My guess is they get allocation money back if there was a transfer fee which I'd assume there would be since he's still on a MLS contract. According to Major League Soccer Vice President Charles Altchek, Liga MX President Enrique Bonilla met with MLS officials today to discuss ending the current system of promotion and relegation in Mexico. Altchek told a group gathered at the Philadelphia Union’s Academy campus in Wayne, Pennsylvania that this discussion would be held today in the MLS offices in New York City. Altchek and MLS Commissioner Don Garber were visiting the suburban Philadelphia campus to discuss the Union’s youth academy and made the remark to the gathered journalists and academy members.
Garber was talking about promotion and relegation in Major League Soccer, and how the idea “just doesn’t work” in the context of MLS. After an anecdote about meeting with Manchester City and New York City FC owner Sheik Mansour at his royal palace in Abu Dhabi to discuss MLS rules and regulations, Altchek interjected “Today, the gentleman that runs Liga MX is in our office trying to figure out how to get rid of promotion and relegation in Mexico.”
Garber went on later to tell the crowd that “The Mexican commissioner - his name is Enrique Bonilla - he’s in the MLS offices today looking at the MLS structure so they can think about how can they get the business side of Liga MX to be as good as they are on the field. And they’re really good on the field.”
The fact that these discussions are happening is a significant step for Liga MX that could present its own set of challenges not only for the league but for the FMF in general.The issue is expected to be brought up at the next owners’ meeting.

Multiple sources say that the LA Galaxy have recently extended an offer to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one that would bring him to the club this summer and pay him what would easily be the highest salary in MLS history.
Ibrahimovic is 35 years old, but he has been fantastic for Manchester United this season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions. Ibrahimovic’s United contract runs out at the end of this season, so it would be a free transfer, but there’s a possibility he could extend for up to two more seasons with the club.
Watching Manchester United get into a bidding war with LA over Ibrahimovic would be fascinating, and sources say that LA thinks it has a realistic shot of landing him. LA did have discussions with Ibrahimovic last year before he ended up signing with the United, and his manager, Jose Mourinho, is on record recently saying that he sees Ibrahimovic, who scored the winning goals in the Community Shield and League Cup final, remaining at Old Trafford.

really hope I'm wrong, because I'd love to see me some zlat live... but I have a big hunch that he's going to give zero ####s the second he gets off the plane in the US. MU at least gives him some decent and big games to zlat it up. Gals vs Minn in August isn't going to turn his crank, IMO.
