And honestly I don't think the CBs are the problem.  United is pushing 8 guys forward at times - the midfield can't be sloppy with the ball like they have been in several games.

Just watched The Old Firm - Celtic has four games left to complete the first unbeaten season in SPL for 119 years.  They whipped Rangers 5-1.
Commented on this in one of the other threads. Celtic without the old rangers makes the SPL make the bundesliga look like MLS in terms of parity. It's a league of sub or just on par with MLS talent and one team full of EPL plus.

I don't disagree but Celtic didn't even manage to do it when Rangers dropped to SPL2 (no clue what they call it).

fwiw- I think rangers were dropped to the 4th division, not 2nd. but yeah- good point... never easy to do, regardless of the step down in competition... and definitely worthy of celebrating.

fwiw- just looked up Celtic's last 6 SPL seasons. 170w 33d 21l. went 31-6-1 four years ago, a year following their horrific 7 loss season (24-7-7, and of course another SPL championship)

Spurs don't need a "day"  Arsenal fans know they are well behind Spurs at this point.

No matter what Wenger says/thinks, the power has well and truly shifted in North London.
serious question- and I'll let the #### fans chime in too... is it Wenger, or does ownership not want to spend regardless of arsene? trying to figure out of losing the michelin man is going to actually help if they can't bring in enough quality players. quality players that don't break.

I like alexi a ton, and I like giroud, kuhshellknee, cech... but the rest- trying to think of other guys that are really going to make a difference against top teams. and ####### granit; he's like an end of life scholes, but without the passing.

Ownership doesn't want to spend.  Wenger has done amazingly well to get Arsenal where they are with the budget they run on.  I don't think they will find someone that can do it better.

I don't expect Kroenke to suddenly pony up hundreds of millions either.  I think Arsenal is headed for a dark period.

Also shows United as 2nd, well behind Citeh, but everyone points to United as the spenders.
Nobody likes City. But hard to claim poverty when United's net spend is more than Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham combined.

Next year will be United's year:

year 1: buy the bus

year 2: park the bus

year 3: crash the bus

rinse, repeat

:lmao:  you are probably right.

Not claiming poverty, just pointing out that United gets a ton of crap yet arent the biggest net spenders...

Of course while everyone is comparing Jose to LVG and Moyes, noone is talking about Peligrini being better then Pep, if you compare Citeh this year to last

Yeah, it's bad.  This is where my son plays his soccer.  It's cancelled so far this week  :(
I heard Twellman say this happens a lot.

How long does it take to be playable again when it is buried like that?

thanks Pirlo. true or not, thanks for that spokesman of the league, glowing recommendation of MLS.

Pirlo joined NYCFC in 2015 and there has been talk of De Rossi, whose contract with Roma is up for renewal this summer, joining him in the United States.

However, the 37-year-old Pirlo says former Italy teammate De Rossi -- four years his junior -- still has much to offer in Europe before considering a move across the Atlantic, though a switch away from Roma would be wise given he has spent his whole career at the club.

"I would advise him to change scenery," Pirlo told Sportitalia. "He's young and he can still play in one of Europe's leagues, while at the same time it is still early for him to come to America. He can still play at the highest levels."

De Rossi is still too good for MLS?  Really?  Really Pirlo?
Pirlo continues the MLS tradition.

If you are a big name, come here and play well, you say good things.

If you are a big name, come here and are just another player, you say bad things.

It has been this way for years.  I think it is some sort of face saving thing, but I am not sure.

Tampa takes a big step towards MLS today

====================

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (May 2, 2017) – The Tampa Bay Rowdies took another important step towards bringing a Major League Soccer franchise to Tampa Bay on Tuesday, as St. Petersburg voters approved the Al Lang Stadium referendum by an overwhelming majority.

Residents of St. Petersburg came out in significant numbers to support #MLS2StPete and approve the referendum with 87 percent of the vote, which gives City Council the authority to negotiate a long-term use agreement for Al Lang Stadium.

“I am grateful to the citizens of St. Petersburg for passing this important referendum,” said Rowdies Chairman & CEO Bill Edwards. “St. Petersburg is very protective of our incredibly valuable waterfront – as is appropriate.  We have put together a stadium plan that enhances our downtown, is of a scale that is respectful to our waterfront and does not burden the taxpayers.”

The use agreement would allow Al Lang Stadium’s primary purpose to be the home field for a potential Major League Soccer team. The $80 million renovation and expansion will be privately funded and is contingent on being awarded an MLS franchise.
