I'd be disappointed if a little apertivo didn't come up in conversation.
:lmao: .  Yes, of course...but you are quite the refined D.C. gentleman...but for backwater/backwoods Kafka broaching the subject with poor Ned amongst all those parents,  it probably was uncomfortable, being that I was covered in brick dust, jumping out of my white jalopy F250, just to catch the last 10 mins of game.  Just don't tell @AAABatteries.

#DelawareTroglodyte

#Wrongthread(or is it?)

Thought this was going to be a continuation of the short-handed team Kafka post above...

... AND NED'S SON CAME OUT OF THE SEATS TO SCORE A HAT TRICK.
He could have...the boy is very talented...obviously takes after his mother.

eta: sarcasm=soccer wise, fellas, soccer wise...sorry, that came out all wrong, Ned.  Im an ###.

Milan back in "Europe" after 3yrs, qualifying for Europa League, ahead of Inter, who spent like 150m this summer.

Milan finally under new ownership as of last month, have completed 3 deals now (Kessie, Musacchio and Ricardo Rodriguez)

Future finally looking bright... Been a damn long while. Oof.

you guys just fell into Ramsay's trap of "of course you people know when the europa league games are played"

How you like 'dem apples, @El Floppo?

Take it to the Liverpool thread...
Congrats on a great year.  Tottenham have grown into a complete team.  I look forward to seeing all the English teams in the CL next year.  I think Tott, Chelsea, City and yes...Liverpool could do some damage next year.  Should be fun to watch.

Scary off-season to be an Arsenal fan.  It will be tough to hold Sanchez/Ozil and who can they get to replace them? Tott/Che/City/LIV/United will all unquestionably be getting better (on paper), while Arsenal are going to struggle to tread water.

Rodriguez & Kessie are damn fine "buys", not sure about Musacchio...

*supposed to be in response to @Soulfly3's post
Honestly, love all 3. I havent been able to say that since we bought Romagnoli.

Musacchio was part of one of La Liga's top ranked DEF. I've liked him nearly everytime Ive seen him, except for when he was pummelled by Dzeko.

Regardless, he's a huge improvement over Zapata and Paletta

This is what I came up with

Actual finish-

Liverpool 22-10-6       76 points

:hifive:

Atlanta United beat up Houston pretty good last night 4-1.  Almiron with a hat trick - the first goal was great, the second goal was outstanding (including the buildup)
So thankful he decided to shoot this week. Carleton came in for him as a sub late in the game. Showed some poise when taking Beasley to task on a run. Likely could have taken him to goal but held up to kill the game off. Hope he gets some more chances.

Great season. :D
Is no Spurs fan disappointed?  This was a great team that nevertheless won absolutely bupkis. Arsenal finished second last year and nobody was happy. Because we knew they blew a year with a real chance at the title.

Arsenal might not be a threat, but both Manchester sides should be better. You could very well look back at these last two seasons as your window and realize you got nothing from it.

sinn fein dislikes this

Seriously though, nothing to be disappointed about right now.  Team keeps improving under Poch, still was the youngest team in the league this year.

Scored most goals, conceded fewest goals.  Three 20-goal scorers, across all competitions.  Played this season with a number of injuries - Kane missed 8 games, Rose missed half a season, Alderweiereld, Dembele, Lamela has been out since October, Winks has missed the last several weeks - and he was a key part of the depth this season, even Lloris missed a few games.  Still finished the season strong.

Fantastic season.  Bright future.  Exciting times.

There may be a point in the future to look back and wonder, but Spurs have kicked on to another level.  They have staying power, and I expect that they will be among the challengers for several years to come.

Aside from the Arsenal comment - this is what everyone said going into this season.  United spent massively, City also spent a lot of money - where did it get them?

Spurs will be instantly better next season (from the end of this season) if they do no business at all.  Rose will be back, Lamela will be back, Walker will be back*, Winks will be back, the bench will include Son and Lamela in stead of Sissoko and N'Koudou

*Walker is actually the only one who will be sold - headed to either City or United for ~£45M

Spurs will actually have about £90M to spend this summer after selling Walker, Sissoko, and Wimmer (along with Bentaleb and Fazio who are already sold), and they don't need to bring in any starters.  They need to improve the depth, to allow better rotation, and I think they will be able to do that.

SF, it's too early to say who is right and who is wrong imo.

If Tottenham finishes 4th next year, then misses the CL, then loses Kane/Alli, you'll look back on two 2nd place finishes with a bit of sadness.  Close but no cigar.

I feel the lack of an American style playoffs leads to teams being able to head into the offseason feeling good about themselves, but ultimately Tottenham, despite having a great season, are no different than the Atlanta Falcons.  In reality, despite all the great things they did, their season was just as successful as Man city.

Now if they use this as a springboard to titles, yeah the season was a success.  It certainly LOOKS like a squad heading up, but we won't know for a few more years whether or not this was a missed opportunity or a springboard to success.

Same will apply to Liverpool as well.

Look Spurs could easily slide next year - playing a full season at Wembley.  But, that won't make this season any worse.  And yes, they will eventually sell Dele to Real Madrid - but unlike the last time they did that - Spurs don't have to rebuild an entire squad.  This is not a one-man squad, and as long as they hold onto Poch, they will be in good shape.

And before you say Poch is off, these are his words:

“When I signed here I understood the project of [chairman] Daniel Levy; the Tottenham project,” the Argentine told the newspaper.
“We agreed we are not using Tottenham as a platform to sell ourselves, and we have showed from day one we wanted to work in this project and we believed in this project.
“It’s important to be honest with the person that signed you three years ago and invited you to a good project that you agreed to.
“Now it is important to be loyal and work together to reach the next level.”

This was in response to rumors of the Inter job offer of £10M/year.

If the rumors are true that Usmanov is trying to buy out Kroenke, that would easily be the best bit of business Arsenal's done in the past decade or so.

Why don't you post here more often?  I always appreciate your Serie A input, but #### Romagnoli.  After he signed with your boys, he posted a photo donning a Lazio jersey.  Good riddance.

Harry Kane has scored more league goals in the last 4 days then any man utd player ALL SEASON in the league except Ibrahimovic

:coffee:
That's like saying: "and on the sixth day, God said: ahhh, #### it...the beasts of the earth shall suffice...who needs man?
