One of my sources just told me Silva is willing to do what it takes to make NASL compete with MLS. Will pump $$$ into other teams

while I like competition... what a mess that would be.

I mean- the sport is gaining traction in a way that seems exponential.. but the league still needs traction IMO, especially during this time of growth when so many "sports" fans are finding out about soccer and beginning to throw their hats into their local MLS supporters ring. I really think an independent second league (which is how I'm reading that tweet, in particular "compete") will cause confusion for those newcomers. the league is already risking dilution of quality with all of the expansion teams- a second "competing" league will make it a mess. and I'm a fan of having the NASL successful... just need to figure out or maintain the pyramid (which MLS seems to be screwing NASL on).

it is rare that competition is a bad thing but with limited dollars in the sport in the country, I hate to see it spread instead of concentrated.

And lets face it, 1 billionaire is never going to make a difference if 20+ other billionaires decide he needs to be stopped.

I would have preferred a independent division 2 but I am resigned to the opinion that the best case scenario is to have the USL and NASL merge, chop what ever overlap and or deadwood there is and start from there.

Silva owns Miami FC.  Think of how much more could be accomplished if he joined Becks to get a possible marquee franchise running rather than pumping money into other NASL teams that may be terminally ill.

The LA Galaxy have completed the transfer of Mexican national team star, reuniting him with his brother Giovani in a blockbuster MLS deal

The LA Galaxy have spent the summer trying to land a big-ticket striker, but when the opportunity to land a star midfielder like Jonathan dos Santos arose, they couldn't pass it up.

The Galaxy have completed the transfer of Dos Santos on a $5 million deal from Spanish club Villarreal, sources confirmed to Goal. Spanish outlet Mediterraneo reported on Monday that the Galaxy and Villarreal had agreed on a transfer fee, with Dos Santos and the Galaxy finalizing personal terms on Tuesday.

Jonathan Dos Santos has already passed medical review with the Galaxy, tomorrow will sign and will be officially presented on Friday.

Only got to watch a little over half the Barca United match but went pretty much as expected.  Barca with the majority of the ball, luckily Messi was a little rusty or the score could have been worse. De Gea saves, Suarez dives, Fellaini elbows people...

But I was happy with United's overall play in the first half.  They had some chances and played quickly at times.  Missed Herrera in the MF.  Blind and Valencia struggled with providing service which was odd.  Lingard still is out of position and provides no width, his runs are poor and he lacks vision.    Neymar's goal was unfortunate for United.  Valencia made a nice interception and while off balance a little tug on the arm from Neymar helped him over and Neymar finished nicely.

Problem for United is they will not compete for the EPL title or deep run in CL with Lingard and Fellaini playing significant minutes.  Lingard is a perfectly fine squad player, needs to be more central and not on the wing, but a perfectly fine player should not start over potentially great players like Mata, Martial, Mkhi, Perreria. And Fellaini, well United should just pay someone to take him.

However, despite those two, the looks from preseason are promising and the potential style is much better then the last 4 years.  Lukaku looks to fill the role nicely.  Pogba is looking good and I am hopeful.

oh right... I watched the last 50 minutes of MC vs RM.

KDB is on another level- or at least was last night. they carved the crap out of RM in the second half... mostly led by KDB.

The Bob also named coach of LAFC.  Are they also playing in the StubHub center.  Would be awesome for the three dons of American soccer coaching to all have offices next to each other.

Not announced yet, but confirmed by multiple soccer guys in the know.  Yves, Stejkal, etc.
so awesome! I just checked their twitter.  They are pubbing a "Welcome to LA" announcement for tomorrow.

It is interesting that possibly both JDS and Bradley are going to be announced on same day in LA.  You can already see the marketing teams at work here trying to combat the other team.

dang I shoulda bought 6 tix to the US/CR game so I coulda hooked a couple more of you FBGs.

Seats I bought for $115/ea going for about $250/ea now

Emil Forsberg would be a nice addition for Man U.  I think he's better than Keita, tbh.
I mean...they are two totally different players doing totally different things.  Liverpool need midfield help and Keita is a 22-year old with worldclass potential.  ManU desperately need a winger and Forsberg would be great for them.

Win-win for both, but Keita has more potential, imo.

This is an interesting progression.

Seattle gets off to really slow start last year, fire Sigi, sign Lodeiro, and go on to win MLS Cup

LA gets off to really slow start this year, hire Sigi, sign JDS.....and go on to....?

JDS was officially announced by LA this afternoon...
