Maybe I do not understand VAR (likely) or maybe I misinterpreted the gif (also likely)... but I thought that VAR was used in MLS by the ref who made the call to confirm or overturn his call (and that the decision to use VAR came "from above"). So I was assuming that the ref showed the red then went to VAR to confirm his decision.I am not sure what you mean by rescind on VAR. The VAR made the call for the red card, not the ref, the ref I believe has to follow what var says here. The ref did not give the red card to begin with.

I am now assuming, from your reply, that the VAR call came in, the ref reviewed it and then issued the red. Which is even more bananas to me if so.
ok, so I do not understand VAR AND misinterpreted the gifThis is how it flowed
1. fouled occurred, ref issues foul but no card
2. VAR buzzes ref and says they are going to look at it (VAR is a person in stadium and is in room watching replays)
3. VAR determines the play to be a red card and tells ref
4. REF shows that the determination came from VAR by making the square indication with his hands
5. Reaches to back pocket and gives red
6. Revs flip out as this is there 3rd Red card given by VAR this year and the 4th red card in the last 4 games.
I have to say I am little confused myself in reading more this morning. I always thought that the on field ref had final say and would be looking at the same replays the VAR saw. It seems like the ref always sides with what VAR recommends....a) I thought VAR was in a control room in Chicago or something
b) I also thought that VAR just showed the replay to the ref and that the ref confirmed the decision (which seems odd, but c'mon, PRO?)

A female soccer fan who was caught watching a game while topless in the presence of a child has been charged with “indecent exposure.”
Rose Picklo, 23, was arrested Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis after a 7-year-old boy spotted her watching the game, sitting behind him and his mother, without a shirt on, WCCO-TV reported.
“Don’t look. Just watch the game. That’s what we’re here for,” the boy’s mother, Tori Hintzman, told the Star Tribune.
Police were notified of Picklo showing “her bare breasts in a section full of people” at the stadium, which is located on the University of Minnesota’s campus.
Picklo was reportedly ordered by university police to put a shirt on and was threatened with arrest, but the soccer fan refused and argued with authorities.
During the encounter, Picklo said she “was filming the incident” to get the officers on video.
“I don’t remember a whole lot about what happened,” Picklo told the Star Tribune. She told the news outlet that she was “on my third beer” during the event.
Hintzman said that other men watching the game in the area were also not wearing shirts.
After being handcuffed by two officers, Picklo was subsequently carried out of the stadium because she refused to walk on her own. She was later taken to the Hennepin County Jail.
Picklo is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 9. She was charged with indecent exposure, a gross misdemeanor charge, and could face up to a year in jail or a $3,000 fine.
I assumed after the ref gets the call, he goes over to review the video (after making the "I'm drawing a rectangle with my hands" movement) and makes the final determination himself, on the field. I thought the VAR just buzzes in to let the guy know something might be up for review.. not making the call for the red from the booth.ok, so I do not understand VAR AND misinterpreted the gif![]()

thanks for the clarification.
from reading more, this is exactly what is suppose to happen. It does make some sense though that there is a fairly high correlation to making a change (on cases that need changes not confirmations), else the VAR would not buzz.I assumed after the ref gets the call, he goes over to review the video (after making the "I'm drawing a rectangle with my hands" movement) and makes the final determination himself, on the field. stunning that anybody thought that was card worthy enough to warrant buzzing in. person should not be allowed to sit in that booth any more. and that ref should be doing USL/NASL for a bit until he figures stuff out.from reading more, this is exactly what is suppose to happen. I still don't get how two different refs determined on replay that was a straight red card though.
I've always understood that Klopp hates Bayern and Bayern hates Klopp.Klopp to Bayern?

Wow.not that is matters any more but Serie A just moved ahead of the Bundeliga in UEFA coefficient rankings.
I feel the same way. I enjoyed watching this because it gave some otherwise meaningless games reason to pay attention to them to see how the rankings would be affected but Europe does what ever it can to help the big clubs (like they need any extra help..)Wow.
:muttersangrilyatchangeinsystem:
here are the latest rankings. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are all bunched together. but sadly it is meaningless nowAndy, wasn't the Prem in third? What's the current order and how close is it?
Is the next cutoff for number of clubs to CL at sixth place? Because, if so, Portugal has fallen behind Russia, which is interesting to me, too. I guess in a sport where things change glacially, any little one is interesting to me.here are the latest rankings. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are all bunched together. but sadly it is meaningless now

)NWIH is that a red. I'd be hard pressed to call it a foul.for you refs and pseudo refs, is this really a red? Is was judged to be so on VAR. Strong tackle but the Revs player seemed to be clearly first to the ball.

Yeah, hope Aguero is ok.Man city have some challenging times ahead. Mendy is out for the season, Kompany is never fully fit, and now Aguero could miss a month after a cracked rib in an auto accident...

The red card was overturned. It does not overturn the loss though which is the issue VAR was suppose to help with.for you refs and pseudo refs, is this really a red? Is was judged to be so on VAR. Strong tackle but the Revs player seemed to be clearly first to the ball.
