DC released the ticket prices for the new stadium next year.  These are very reasonable especially if you want season tickets.

My DCU guy says there is a worry about the supporter groups with the new place. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that 50% of their attendenc the last 5 years were these supporters groups. They were the ones always there when no one else was. But..... there’s 3 of them. Politics and grudges splintered them in to 3 seperate groups with their own sections with their own songs and their own tailgates. Tickets were so easy to come by that it was easy to do such a thing. It was really weird for me to see the first time. But I was with the Ultras and so I learned their songs and swung their giant 10 foot flag on their end of the feild while I saw the Bara and the Screaming Eagles do their own thing just a a section or so between us. Meanwhile the rest of the stadium was either empty or was just watching the game. The watchers weren’t always there. Not the same ones anyway.  The empty seats were. The same ones and more sometimes. The only constant at RFK for a DCU game has been the supporter groups. All three of them, for better or worse... Always there. No matter what. Well, what now. We’ll see I guess..... And the rest is history....

It appears that Barcelona has suspended its match today - but it was crazy all around, with La Liga threatening to dock points, Las Palmas did not help matters by adding a small Spanish flag to their shirt - specifically for this match.  With all of the violence around Barcelona today - the club determined it could not protect the safety of the fans.

I have not seen anything official but I do know a meeting occurred today to secure the stadium financing deal.

It will be interesting to see who they bumped if this is true...I wonder if the owners have finally given up on Becks in Miami......................
I'm pretty pumped if this turns out to be true.  We have a great city here and I think it would be an incredible choice for the MLS

and the original tweeter finally says first tweet was incorrect

An update: while my sources are "confident" Nashville will earn spot, MLS not making final decision until December. Nothing official today.

Now for some real Nashville news.

Mayor Barry Announces Major League Soccer Stadium Plan, Significant Private Investment

October 2, 2017

90% of proposed MLS stadium will be paid for or financed through private dollars and revenues generated at the facility

Mayor Megan Barry’s administration and John R. Ingram, the lead investor for Nashville’s Major League Soccer expansion bid, announced today a $250 million plan for a 27,500 seat soccer-specific stadium on the Nashville Fairgrounds. A full 90 percent of the proposed stadium cost is funded by the MLS ownership group and revenues generated at the stadium.

Stadium funding would come from a combination of three sources: $200 million in revenue bonds, $25 million in cash from the MLS ownership group, and $25 million in Metro general obligation bonds to pay for public infrastructure associated with the stadium. The MLS ownership group will be responsible for lease payments for the facility used for debt service of the revenue bonds and covering any construction cost overruns

Barry said the proposal puts Nashville in the best position to win an MLS franchise in December while also protecting taxpayers with a soccer-specific stadium funded almost entirely by the private sector, soccer fans and other stadium users.

“A Major League Soccer franchise represents an incredible opportunity for Nashville to continue its growth and take its place on the global stage,” Barry said. “This stadium plan and MLS bid represents significant private investment, and it safeguards taxpayers with a truly private-public partnership.”

oh wow I never knew this rule!!!

=============================================

*FC Dallas submitted their line up sheet on Friday showing Barrios starting

*FC Dallas changed their mind and decided to keep Barrios on bench

*Later in the game FC Dallas subs in Barrios

*According to FIFA rules,  once a team lineup sheet is given to referees, if a player is changed out of the lineup he is ineligible for that game

*So now Dallas faces a penalty which could affect the playoffs.  Again, according to FIFA rules, any team that fields an ineligible player must then forfeit the game.  This would give Orlando three points and move them from 10th to 7th in the standings.  Dallas would lose a point which would drop them 1 point under the team in 6th and final spot for the playoffs.

Palace Sports & Entertainment filed for federal trademark protection for the "Motor City Soccer Club" name last week and made a grab for five corresponding web domain names.

The Tom Gores-owned entertainment company moved to protect the name last Wednesday, which further points to plans by Gores and Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Quicken Loans Inc., to bring a Major League Soccer expansion team to downtown Detroit.

This kind of gives me that Darth Vader vibe when discussing the delays for Death Star 2

Vladimir Putin has warned World Cup officials that delays to preparations for the tournament are "unacceptable".

Huge game for Atlanta tonight - win and they move in to 2nd in the East.  Playing Minnesota at home would make them probably favorites to do just that but AUFC will be without 5 first team players - Almiron and Garza (injury); Guzan and Martinez (international duty) and Walkes (rest) - may be a tougher test than I'd like.  Honestly, I doubt we miss Guzan much as the backup keeper has been good but missing Almiron, Martinez and Garza is huge.

meanwhile, the RBs are slouching their way towards the playoffs. they're playing pretty well, IMO, but then completely oofing games away with defensive breakdowns. about the worst time possible to lose defensive form.

Hoping for a RBs win tomorrow night so their game against us won't really matter - I think if they win tomorrow night they clinch a spot, right?

I don't want to jinx us by looking ahead too much though :oldunsure:
