The buyout clause for Haaland seems like a bargain.  Will be interesting to see him adapt to the PL and MC adapt to having an actual 10.

Yeah, but Raiola's fee(which now likely goes to his heirs) was gonna be around $50M and Halaand's father reported required a fee of around $40M.  All told, MCFC will have to dish out $150M+ before they even talk wages, which will also be significant.  Rumors were that he was asking for around $50M a year.

Ticket secured for the first leg of our playoff semi vs Forest, the confusion that we've been allowed to play at 3 on a Saturday is compounded by the confusion that the Cup Final will kick off while we're approaching injury time, what the heck

Meanwhile, in full schadenfreude mode at the prospect of the Barnsley derby next season

I don’t know if it’s satisfying or terrifying that the Twitter algorithm knows me well enough to serve me updates from the Rebekah Vardy/Colleen Rooney (a.k.a. Wagatha Christie) defamation trial.

Forgot about this story. Just assumed they'd settled at some point over the past 3 years. Chicks,man.....

@tompeck is doing great work on this. It seems things are not going well for Rebekah, nor for Peter Andre‘s penis.

Colleen Rooney's dedication and skill in setting the trap for Rebekah Vardy was way more involved and sophisticated than I realized at the time. The faux DC car accident, the staged basement flooding?  This has me thinking - why not put Colleen in charge of smoking out the SCOTUS leaker?

:lmao:

I know nothing about this story- and am intentionally not diving into it to keep my googles clean. but I'm enjoying the updates.

Bundesliga Relegation playoffs start this week.
Hertha Berlin (1) v Hamburger SV (2)
5/19 in Berlin, 5/23 in Hamburg
Hertha have been in the 1st division since 2013.  Bouncing up and down over the years.
Hamburg dropped to the 2nd division in 2019, after being in the Bundesliga 1st division since its beginning in 1963.

Dynamo Dresden (2) v FC Kaiserslautern (3)
5/20 in Kaiserslautern, 5/24 in Dresden
Dresden have bounced between 2nd and 3rd division for years, promoted last year out of 3.  They spent 4 years in the 1st division back in the early 90s.
Kaiserslautern have been in the 3rd division for four years after being a regular in the 1st division for years.  Kaiserslauthern famously won the Bundesliga in 98 as a newly promoted team.  They dropped from 1 in 2012 and have struggled since.

Its crazy to see Hamburg in the 2nd Bundesliga the past couple seasons. I don't follow it at all anymore and doubt I'll watch, but I hope they win promotion. The first time I was at the old Olympia Stadion in Munich, Bayern were playing Hamburg who were near the top of the table and not far removed from being German champions. It was a huge rivalry game. HSV won the DFB Cup that year and I think had won the European Cup a few years earlier. Several German internationals on the team - Felix Magath was one.  I remember one not so clever chant - "Was is blau und stinkt nach sau? Die HSV!"

does that mean Zidane is finally going to join the Fire too?

given the less than incredible year he's had at PSG, I could actually see this happening. (the argentinian Messi, not the French one).

CRo has repeatedly commented about playing over here too.

I know he's nearing the end of his career, but as an MLS season ticket holder, it'd be awesome to see him come to Austin a time or two.

Pity those teams are involved in the div 2/3 playoff. Great atmosphere when I went to each of the respective stadia. Would much rather have both of those in the 2. Liga as opposed to the likes of Heidenheim and Sandhausen. At least Ingolstadt went down automatically

fantastic intro in the Independent's summary of today's proceedings at the Wagatha Christie trial:

The witness box of Court 13 is far from the only box into which Wayne Rooney has made a well-timed late arrival, and the results were typically devastating.

Manchester United and England’s record goalscorer was the penultimate witness in his wife’s defence, and though we can’t know yet, it’s quite possible he’s decided the game.

Messi in MLS would be absolutely amazing. I hope I didn't come across as poo-pooing it...I'm mostly skeptical that it will happen, but totally behind it if/when it happens. Same for CRo

I am skeptical too.

The only thing that catches my eye is that ownership was the exact carrot that got Becks to come over.  Maybe Becks is using the same carrot with Messi?  And with the new stadium being approved, the value of Inter Miami is going to sky rocket in the coming years.

Of course Becks posting this yesterday this did not help the rumor mill quiet down much..

@juvefcdotcom

Although held in high regard by Allegri, Weston McKennie could be sold this summer, his future is linked to that of the potential arrival of Paul Pogba.

The fact they want to sell McKennie for Pogba is no different then Conte taking an aging MF instead of Tonali. Agnelli and Allegri have lost it. Dusan Vlaholovic hasn't been great do to a horrible MF and they want to sell their best MFer by far? Have had it

does this mean you might change your allegiance from Juve to another club... like Milan?

6 - @NewYorkRedBulls are the first team in MLS history to go unbeaten in their first six away games and winless in their first six home games in a single season. Befuddling.

just saw Pogba silly-season linked to Juve... which would be not so great for Swag.
I keep seeing that Conte is an admirer so if Juve is willing to sell, Tottenham would likely buy (assuming Conte sticks around, which is never certain).

Although I'd hate to see one of my favorite players go to the wrong North London team, I'd totally watch a buddy cop movie featuring Weston and Sonny.

This has been rumored off and on since January.  I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

(Also, assuming Tottenham sticks in 4th Conte will stick.)

4 red cards last night in the SKC v. Colorado MLS match, KC won 2-1.  Scrum at the end with 3 reds.  Two of the KC reds were straight reds with additional game bans expected.

Video recap has most of the scrum for those that care.

So I guess there is no Confederations Cup anymore. Is there any soccer worth keeping these streaming services over the summer?

mostly friendlies and Nations League games.  Liga MX and MLS are still running but you can get Liga MX on a ton of channels and you only need streaming for MLS if you need to watch hundreds of games, else there are still plenty on the normal broadcast channels.

Yeah. I'll have ESPN+ regardless and the local Charlotte games are blacked out on the services anyway. Have to watch many on the club site.
