TEN HAG IN!!! Reports that United is keeping ETH and will discuss an extension.

I am for this. 2 years, 2 trophies, 3 finals. With a structure above and and a cohesive strategy and style hopefully they can move forward together.

Now lets get to selling the deadwood and not good enough and bring in the right talent at the right prices.

That sucks. I was hoping they'd do the dumb thing here.

Makes sense. And hopefully he can field the same 11 guys more than once.

And still lose.

Signed,
Neutral but underdog rooting.

lol, United tried contacting like 5 other guys, none wanted the job. so, they keep ETH.
I have nothing against him, I actually think he's a pretty good coach, but, he's made a LOT of the transfers that have worked out, not great. Antony is terrible. Martinez is good, but undersized for a CB in the EPL and always hurt. Onana instead of DDG was a major move. Not one of my favorites.
United needs to make a lot of moves. They'll have some wage relief moving on from a number of players, but Bruno already asking for a well deserved raise.
Rashford needs to be pushed to PSG.
Players USED to want to come to United, and United didn't have to overbid on transfers. Not anymore, this is now Real Madrid territory.
It's pathetic that United needs to get CB's, LB's a MF and a striker EVERY DAMN YEAR. I remember they would need to make one or two minor tweaks to still be good.
They have a ton of young talent, which is nice, but still a lot of work to be done there. Going into the season 4th - 5th best is unacceptable.

Yeah some of the transfers have worked out, some have been poor. And that is something we can be critical of ETH on. I am hoping with more structure and influence above, the moves will be more cohesive and of better value. United has needed a major overhaul of their roster for a few seasons. Hopefully then now get one.

Unpopular opinion of mine is that Onana was actually a good move. Had some howlers early, settled in and was getting better. Always hard to settle with a different back line and CB pairing every game. Remember they did end the season 5th in defensive record and 3rd in clean sheets.

But in the end, they need to back the manager and continue to get the power back away from the players. Sacking him and bringing back Sancho would have sent a poor message and undermined the work INEOS needs to do.

I will be in England early December and would love to get to a game or two. I looked at the schedule and have a few in mind.

What’s the best way to get tickets? I don’t mind paying a little more and hospitality tickets seem interesting.

Matchday 3: United v Liverpool!!

United start at home with Fulham, then off to Brighton before hosting Liverpool.

They end the season at Chelsea and home to Villa. Not an easy way to end the season.

I'm sure @titusbramble can give better feedback, but from my very limited experience this might be the way unless it's a team that doesn't regularly sell out. There's no secondary resale market like we're used to in the States. When I went to see Newcastle, I bought a membership and was able to buy tickets without issue, but this was before the takeover and the team was in shambles. Now, I'd really have no chance outside of hospitality seats from what I can tell.

When we went in Feb we bought memberships and got tickets as well. The higher profile games went to a lottery before you could buy. Looks like each team does it slightly different as well.

Zigg, what games are you looking at?

This is true for Newcastle more or less, but I think there's also a loyalty system or something - in any event, I think it's next to impossible unless you're a local who has a history of attendance.

Luckily Fulham at United was not a "higher profile" game :lmao: . Would have been screwed and probably not got tickets when we wanted to go if United was hosting Liverpool, City, Arsenal, etc.

I arrive Dec. 3 and leave the 10th.

Fulham plays Brighton on the day I arrive, but I figure that might be ambitious for my first trip to London. City hosts Forest the next day. I figure that might be a possibility if I head straight to Manchester after I arrive.

Brentford-Newcastle seems interesting for Saturday.

We walked around Fulham's stadium while in London. The location is fantastic and the entrances are so old looking, I would love to see a game there.

The train to Manchester is a couple hours but a nice ride.

Am I right assuming the weekend fixtures will be spread out over the weekend at a later date rather than all games being played on Saturday?
I think the dates are fairly accurate, although TV might adjust some of the days/times. Will want to check if there are any potential Cup games that might cause adjustments too.

Are you otherwise traveling outside of London? Personally, I'd target hospitality with one of the bigger London clubs.

Speaking of travel, wife and I will be in Madrid end of October/early November. Barcelona happens to be in town and we want to scratch this off our bucket lists and attend the game at Bernabeu.

Anyone ever buy Real Madrid tickets?

Doing research, it looks like they don't go on sale until 7-14 days before matchday, or you can buy resale. I'm worried about availability because its Barcelona, and scams if we go resale market.

Cup won't affect PL games at that time of the season

Edit - at least at weekends. Mickey Mouse cup might throw a spanner in the works of midweek games but I can't see when rounds for that are scheduled at this time. Would assume the FL releases that round about the same time as the fixtures

It's been a while since I looked at Real tickets, and while what you say is (was?) correct for general fixtures, don't expect to see any availability for the Clasico. Would strongly suggest just looking at hospitality options for this one if it is a bucket list sort of thing, no idea how much it'd cost or what your budget is, but you're asking for pretty much the only game all season (apart from maybe against Atleti) where getting a ticket goes from trivial to extremely hard

No firm plans aside from flying in and out of London. Catching at least one game is a priority. I’m still disappointed on missing out in Turkey.

Drop me a DM at the end of the month (FL fixtures are out a week tomorrow) and I'll give you advice on what might be your best bets. As others have said, assume any game right now is liable to being moved for television and that no times are set in stone

Thanks. My wife is convinced we'll need to use whatever the Euro version of Stubhub is, but I'm worried about scams. They have something called "Madridistas" which lets you pay $35/year for earlier access to tickets. I'm wondering between that and being on a computer the moment tickets are released, if I can snag a couple.

I would not bank on buying that and being able to get a ticket for the Barca game tbh

Speaking from experience (Liverpool 7-0 United was pushed back ~30 hours and we missed it despite having tix when couldn't pivot), I'd give yourself a window on either side of the match in case it's moved for some reason.

Yes.

Depending on when, and the teams playing - you might be able to have a more informed "guess" - Beginning in Mid-September, Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea will be involved in European competitions in mid-week - with games on a Thursday night. Thus, their league games are typically scheduled for Sundays to provide a little rest between matches.

(Teams that are in Champions League (Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa) play mid-week games on Tuesday or Wednesday - so unless they are facing the teams above will typically play on Saturdays)

Flipped on Feyenoord/Ajax mainly to watch 19-year old Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh play. Ajax is dreadful and currently on the receiving end of a 6-0 drubbing. It’s just kind of shocking.

Minteh with a brace and assist including this beauty: https://x.com/footballreprt/status/1776970873280278591?s=46

Newcastle just sold Minteh to Brighton for 33 million pounds/40 million US. Bought him for 8 or so, loaned him to Feyenoord for a year and here we go. I’ll be rooting for him but you absolutely need to accept that offer. I’m not even sure there’s a sell-on clause. PSR no longer an issue, Bruno G and Isak are staying, unleash the oil money for a RW and some defenders.

ETA: There’s still some question on if this was enough for PSR.

Oh what a mess (again in the NWSL). Any of guys following this crazy story from San Diego?

A former employee who quit due to mental health issues posted a long hit piece on the organization and specifically the president with many strong claims and posted some emails she received as well from high ranking members of the club proving how toxic it was to work there.

The club quickly put out a statement that not only were her claims false, but that the emails were fabricated.

Yikes

many more employees and players have come out supporting the worker, telling their own stories.

I did not make the connection but now it makes sense. Remember when Carli Lloyd said that the USMNT was too comfortable with GGG and that when she played they absolutely hated their coach but won? She was talking about Jill Ellis who is now the president of the Wave.

Almada to Bota Fogo for MLS record fee.
Wait, what changed? It was reported for weeks that this was $21m. How did it get higher than Almiron, which was $24?

I wonder if they are including the addons which may or may not come to fruition......?

At least they made some money on him. I think they bought him for $16m.

[Bogert] Botofogo has officially signed Argentine int’l Thiago Almada from Atlanta United. Almada expected to go to Lyon in the winter. Transfer fee is $21m up-front, currently 3rd-highest transfer in MLS history. The most guaranteed money. Atlanta could get up to $30m including add-ons

Trying to research the guy that looked to have a really good game in the pre season friendly I was at earlier, only to learn he was only known as Trialist B, sigh

Atlanta United's outbound transfer moves this summer:

- Thiago Almada to Botafogo: $21m + $9m add-ons

- Giorgos Giakoumakis to Cruz Azul: $10m

- Caleb Wiley to Chelsea: $11m

- Ezequiel Barco: $3m (sell on fee)

$44m guaranteed. Up to $53m in add-ons.

Has to be an MLS team record for one window.

Arthur Blank is so flush with cash he's going to start paying fans to eat their concessions.

United announce Ruud van Nisteltooy as Assistant Coach. If he can't get Rashford, Garnacho, Hojlund or new signing Joshua Zirkzee scoring, I'm sure he can strap on the boots and do it himself!
