Why does MU need to win? The announcers keep on saying how important it is but haven't explained why.

Valencia doing the lord's work here.
Exciting game. Negredo is truly terrible. I had no idea he was that bad. Missed 3 easy ones in the 15 minutes he was in the game.

Ronaldo getting a PK saved is always great to see.

Ref swallowed hi whistle a few times. A few Madrid players could have gotten sent off for 2nd yellows.

Pogba returned today and scored off a deflection. More bad news for Real Madrid/good news for all that is good in the world.

Barça odds on the treble?

Has to be about 1/3 or better.
1/200 to win LaLiga

3/5 to win CL

1/7 to win Spanish Cup

50% is in the ballpark.
Assuming they advance against Bayern, they won't have any more midweek games. Their schedule will be @ Atletico, home to Deportivo, the Copa against Bilbao, and then the CL final. Depor might need that game to avoid the drop, so prob best if Barca can sew it up against Atletico if possible.

Well, for various reasons I hope they win the liga at home on the final day.

Although with a win tomorrow, Atletico will be 6 up with 2 games left. Although Valencia hold the head to head tiebreaker against Atletico.

RM owns the tiebreak btw, so Barca's "magic number" (Barca points + RM points dropped) is 3. RM has Espanyol and Getafe left. Espanyol doesn't have much to play for (although they've had a pretty good season) and Getafe should be clear of the drop zone by w38.

"NY" DERBY!!!!!!!

watched the Burnley win yesterday- love these relegation battles, even if I wasn't aware that Burnley was out regardless of the outcome.

as opposed to a QPR, who look better on paper than they play- Burnley seemed to give everything they had and get as much as they could out of that team. kudos to the coach and players for going themselves proud. they would be a rock star MLS team and should do just fine in the soda league..

I think the Europa League is still within Espanyol's grasp but, as we've seen in PL, that appears to be scant motivation for some.

I'm going to assume that United have secured 4th now - that's huge for them and LvG. He has a lot of decisions this summer. Seems unlikely ADM is back, he just doesn't fit IMO. I wouldn't hate it if Falcao was given another chance - he was obviously still recovering from the knee and never found a groove. However, I wouldn't want to keep him and RvP.

I think it's a given they need 2 CBs - I'm not sure they have a starting CB in the side right now. They need a RB as I assume Rafael is gone and Valencia is too long in the tooth. Not sure what to make of Shaw - he was average and injury prone but they paid too much to give up on him.

The good thing is they have CL to lure players who maybe would have thought twice this past season.

It should be an interesting summer. The English clubs are all loaded, Bayern probably feels a need to buy, the Spanish giants won't be sitting on their hands either, and there should be a few interesting manager moves.

Barça's hands are tied, unfortunately.

Pep wil cause waves. He'll want to reshape City, and Bayern will want to wash away some of Pep's stink. How nuts would it be if Klopp goes to Bayern?

Will Juve sell Pogba and Vidal? They can't, can they? If they get past Madrid that has to make them think twice about selling. Do they have the cash to hold? Improve even? No one is Italy does, do they?

Arsenal will have a lot of additions to the squad. They'll be getting back Wilshere, Walcott, Arteta, and Diaby to 100%. Those will be as good as any transfers they could make. :wall:

Yes, should be pretty interesting.

The women were pissed about having to play the World Cup on field turf.

Does anyone know why TFC's stadium was not chosen? It is grass, and newly renovated, and it is even bigger than 2 of the other stadiums they chose.

Sucks that the tiebreaker isn't GD in a year where Barca is 15 higher.

Just need to keep this form up a few more games.

So on the one hand I'm almost rooting for Swansea to lose so they can avoid Europe, while I think it's time for me and the Union to see other people.

I think we all knew the amount of resources they put into the GK's was going to affect them eventually but this is so much worse than I expected.

Crackling atmosphere at Red Bull Arena today.
NYC is so bad. but NYers love a spectacle- and definitely looked like the stadium was going off. wish it was that way every week for the bullstars.

sascha's first touch off his chest to assist on the second goal was amazing- so hard to do on the half skipped bounce like that. I'm sure NYC had solid reasons not to mark wright-phillips there.

mazda miazga with the idiotic 2nd yellow- a guy playing his way into the WC shouldn't be making that kind of mistake. but NJ didn't ever look that nervous about things- kept their shape pretty well, controlled the field well and countered well. NYC. woof.

and what was the story with Villa and MIx getting subbed out? strange. I did notice that just prior to that, Villa seemed to visibly give up on a play (yet another NYC miss-pass)- I wonder if that had anything to do with it? Mix and Villa both were pretty silent compared to oher games I"ve watched. weird stuff afoot in the Bronx. Lampard can't get here soon enough.

Kevin Prince Boateng was just released from his contract in Germany. This allows him to move for free and the timing is interesting because the MLS window closes next week. Perhaps there is something to the Red Bull rumor.

2 games to go, 6 points up, +14 goal diff over 5th.

v Arsenal next weekend

@ Hull to end the season

Nice of someone at United to make a PK.

Nice of de Gea to save their arses again. Pay that man his $$$$!!!!!

ETA, and despite the fans laughing over Arsenal's constant 4th place finishes, getting back into the top 4 after the Moyes Debacle and the general consensus that United needed to be rebuilt despite SAF winning the league 2 years ago, still is something to be happy with. Couple more moves this summer and hopefully challenge Chelsea for the top spot.
