How did Mali make it to the semis of the U-20 World Cup?
I don't disagree, although I don't see many games. It will be interesting to see whether this Brazil team can beat Venezuela without Neymar. Normally, one would not expect to be concerned. He pulls off so much magic out of nowhere that doesn't make highlight reels because they don't end in goals. They still work and get by double and triple teams, but then he makes a pass or gets fouled, so it isn't on Sports Center. Meanwhile, yeah, he'll lose some balls and haters will make youtube videos about it. He has this Brazil team on his back. Without him they might lose games 7-1. And we're talking ####### Brazil here. He's a top 5 player in the world, easy. At 23.I was so happy when that guy from Athletic shoved Neymar to the ground in the Copa final. I watch my kid's academy team warming up and half the kids are practicing rainbows. My son can't do a simple stepover in a game but works endlessly on his rainbow in the front yard. "Dad, Conner can do a rainbow" he says. #### Conner and his rainbow, it's all Neymar's fault. I search YouTube and find a dozen videos of Neymar losing the ball trying rainbows in Brazil and Spain. "It's the Brazilian way of playing" he says or some ####, but it never works, is pure bull####. Has he ever completed one? At least the rabona, which I am on record as hating, is occasionally useful. #### that guy and his rainbows.
Africa has always performed well at the youth level. How did Mali make it to the semis of the U-20 World Cup?
like zis, like zis, like zis... goal.I constantly worked on my rainbow as a kid too. And my juggling max was something like 4, so I certainly could have used the practice better. I became obsessed after that Czech guy from the concentration camp did it against the Nazis in Victory.
very tidy- and a big hole for them, IMO.Didn't see it mentioned, but NYCFC sign Iraola on a free transfer as a non-DP. Seems like a tidy bit of business for them.
This team would have been great 5 years agovery tidy- and a big hole for them, IMO.Didn't see it mentioned, but NYCFC sign Iraola on a free transfer as a non-DP. Seems like a tidy bit of business for them.
they're still just horrible to watch- but maybe once he and Lamps settle in... whammo!
They need more than that imo.very tidy- and a big hole for them, IMO.Didn't see it mentioned, but NYCFC sign Iraola on a free transfer as a non-DP. Seems like a tidy bit of business for them.

I really do hope that a couple more guys with a little bit of class will help tip the scales from bleh to hmmm for them (rather than a bunch of MLS journeymen who were never eye-catching even in their primes)
The bold is all you typically get from the expansion drafts. It takes a couple of years to weed those out and replace with better talent that the team either produces or finds itself.Mix has been playing well- and poor David Villa is doing everything he can... but it's just brutal. This team would have been great 5 years agovery tidy- and a big hole for them, IMO.Didn't see it mentioned, but NYCFC sign Iraola on a free transfer as a non-DP. Top 3? I would hope no one is trying to make that argument. He is probably top 3 at the Copa America but that is a different story. Messi, Ronaldo, Robben, Suarez, Costa, Reus, the list could keep going.Sounds like folks are having two different conversations - is Neymar top-3 (or so) vs. is Neymar top-25 (or so). The latter is pretty obvious yes but I think the former is probably a no but he could get there. Some people probably underrate him and others overrate him. I'm not sure there's a club in the world who wouldn't want him though.
I hear you- but usually the teams surround those guys with just enough guys with quality to make it work... at least a little bit. NYC has two guys who can play, and the rest are just running around. If I had to choose between watching the USWNT and NYC... ugh. at least the games I've seen from OC, they knock it around a little bit- even the non-Kaka guys. The bold is all you typically get from the expansion drafts. Sorry, no, what I'm trying to say is I think the people saying Neymar is great is coming across to those others who thinks he's just really good as though he's the equal of the top 3.Top 3? Trippier is official now. Nice piece of business for £3.5M.Kieran Trippier has completed his medical for Spurs. Recent reports suggest he is there to compete with Kyle Walker at RB, and that Walker's injuries are an on-going concern. It does represent another obstacle for Yedlin, but he has been rumored as going on loan to Norwich and/or getting a look as a MFer.
ETA - Spurs app had posted a first interview with Trippier, but it has since been removed. Still expect an official announcement sometime today.
Really great crosser of the ball.said it before, but I was a big fan of this trippier kid this year. games I watched, he was always one of the major players, making things happen on both sides of the ball.
eta: plus... great name.

Aren't the Mexicans rolling with an U-22 squad in that tourney?Looking forward to seeing Mexico today in the Copa...size up the Nat competition.
That's the old "Chase Stuart Theory of How the Shark Pool Evaluates Quarterbacks." There's the best couple of guys and then everybody else sucks.I like that if someone has a different opinion of a player he's a hater or a troll. No in between, either suck him off or you hate him.![]()
no. There is only 1 player under 22 on the squad.Aren't the Mexicans rolling with an U-22 squad in that tourney?Looking forward to seeing Mexico today in the Copa...size up the Nat competition.
that's what surprised me the last time the US played Mexico... the lack of quality on their B/C side.no. There is only 1 player under 22 on the squad.Aren't the Mexicans rolling with an U-22 squad in that tourney?Looking forward to seeing Mexico today in the Copa...size up the Nat competition.
It is far from their A squad though. It has been an impressive performance considering the laundry list of who is on the Gold Cup roster instead.

Fred and Fred doesn't interest you?Well, we won't be seeing any more spectacular rainbows this summer - Neymar suspended 4 games. Apparently, in addition to the accumulation of yellows and kicking the ball at an opponent, he also abused/shoved the ref in the tunnel. That BeIn subscription looks a bit less appealing now.
I'll drive down there and fight youI think Gator and wdrob think this is the hot take thread.

Neymar in two years when he is over the hill.
