holy wow!

as of this minute...

IRL 1 : GER 0

SCOT 2: POL 1

That would put IRL through as 2nd place in that group!
Poland came back and tied it in extra time.

if you had to guess... and it'll be wacky... guess who scored both Poland goals. you'll never guess. impossible.

etaL: and IRL won! the goal is classic- germany playing the ball around and finally through- GK bangs it relatively aimlessly back downfield into the german half, shane long runs onto it and scores.

and I love that Martin O'Neill is the coach... one of the more entertaining guys to watch on the sidelines- he's like a spazzy 2nd grader talking about legos.

What's the best catch all site for scores in each league, including Euro Cup, basically everything?
I don't think there is any one site that stands out as so many do this. A ton of sites carry the scores from across the world.

Fox, NBC, ESPN, flashscore, soccer24, livescore, and many many others.

It is all a matter of preference really.

I  drogba so much.

did vs stach

(rbs still won- and could've won by a lot more... couple of wright-phillips shots off the posts)
NYR is in a very good position to win the Supporter Shield right now.

Here is the run down of the top 4 teams:

34 game season

Team: Games Played: Points

NYR: 31: 54

Dallas: 31: 51

LA: 32: 51

Van: 32: 50

======================

3 of the 4 teams above are relatively small spending teams in terms of total team salary.

It will be interesting to see how the playoffs work out.

What I'd like to be able to see if the "standings" or brackets for the various Euro stuff all at one place.

As a new to soccer guy, sometimes I can't tell if Ireland is playing Germany for fun or for world cup qualifying or for something else.

It be nice to have it all sorted and collated somewhere.

ETA: GPJs suggestion looks like exactly what I was looking for.

The Germany v Ireland game was a good one. Relatively few chances for either side and as the announcers said, both best chances (and the one goal) came on goalie clearances. The one Neuer did was a thing of beauty and should have been a goal.

After watching this I FFed through the Scotland v Poland match. The emotion and intensity was something to see. The pure joy when Scotland went ahead right down to the last second equalizer. This is what non soccer fans don't get. Sure, most games don't have that level of ramifications, but when they do ... something to see.

The FIFA story grows sillier every day.

Today ESPN is reporting that the executive committee is trying to call an emergency meeting to delay the presidential election since so many of the candidates are banned right now.

Lol.

My understanding is this is UEFA trying to make it easier for Platini to ride out his suspension. UEFA didn't suspend him, so it looks like they've decided to stick with him.

sergiho, Gotze and Shweiny all hurt. I didn't see how serious the Tigers was but looks like the other 2 could miss serious time. City could be in a bit of trouble, Bayern not so much.

I think I've officially become an old crank -- I'm too jaded to get excited by the signing.

There's a fireman's wedding tonight

In the Cloverland Dell

There's a hook and a ladder

And we'll dance

'Neath a big paper bell

And everyone will be there

And we'll all wish them well

As if all news will be good news from now on

I like soccerway. Wading through most of the big sites like ESPN and FOX is #######ed impossible.

And they also have a graphical display of each team's formation. NEAT.
And when you say "everything", they literally have everything. Want to know how the Thai third division is going? Aruba's domestic cup? Soccerway is your place.

Some juicier nuggets in the Bloomberg story:

The payment to Platini was made in February 2011 and came amid another period of crisis at FIFA. The organization was under severe pressure to explain how it chose wealthy desert-state Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup and Blatter was embroiled in a bitter election campaign with ex-Asian soccer head
Mohamed Bin Hammam. Platini expressed his support for Blatter at about the same time.

The details of the payment were passed to the Swiss attorney general’s office by UBS AG, which is among the banks cooperating with a probe by Swiss authorities into the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Karina Byrne, a UBS spokeswoman, declined to comment.

While it is risky to put any faith into the possibility of FIFA reform I do see a narrow window here for a relatively clean sweep of the major corruption players.

I feel like there is a very good chance of a clean sweep of the current dirty officials.

I feel like there is almost no chance they won't be replaced by some one just as corrupt. The only thing that may deter this is if NUMEROUS officials spend time in prison.

I think there may be at most 2 legit honest people in FIFA and Sunil is one of them.

I don't think we need numerous officials to spend time in jail. I think one or two top dogs would do it. Not that others wouldn't help, but if you prove that the Blatters and Platinis are not above the law the ones that follow are not going to take those same risks.FIFA will inevitably be corrupt. I'm simply hoping for a moderation to what is unarguably become absolutely ridiculous.

At some point Europe is going to have to flex their muscle and put an end to the horse trading of multitudes of tiny players in voting. The current process is inherently corrupt.

While I agree that the tail wagging the dog is not ideal by any means, UEFA is as corrupt or more corrupt than any other region so I am not sure if that will fix anything.

Yeah, unless/until they boot Platini, they're just as complicit in all this mess.

Europe at least has mechanisms in place to stamp out corruption if it sees fit.

I know we will never likely know, but I still think Platini might have been the driving architect behind Qatar 2022.

I don't think I will ever feel like FIFA will change for the good until they correct the 2022 decision and re open it up for bidding and actually pay attention to the research they paid for.

UEFA appears to be backing Platini right now which to me shows me how much they care about stamping out corruption.

If UEFA were to remove him from office immediately with some sort of life time ban that was not based on sponsor pressure, then I would start to feel differently.

I don't believe Platini will survive, but if he does, it would be hard to disagree with you.
