The fan in me wants to see what Giggs can do, but Mourinho is a master. I'd support him no question. I understand why people hate him, but I've always loved his schtick.

LVG was never a long term answer anyway. I love the guy but it's not working, time to move on..
Why did the team give him a small fortune to spend if he wasn't considered a long-term solution?
The plan was for LVG to work his club rebuilding magic and then hand it over to Giggs (or whomever) after 3 years. It just hasn't taken.
His what!?
HIS CLUB REBUILDING MAGIC
Oh.

I feel like San Antonio might be another one of those cities that are not loaded with pro sports teams where MLS could achieve relevancy like in Portland or KC

===================================

Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) today announced they have reached an agreement with Bexar County and the City of San Antonio to operate a soccer franchise at Toyota Field in 2016. The deal is part of a collaborative effort by the city, county and SS&E to pursue bringing Major League Soccer (MLS) to the Alamo City. The announcement was made at a press conference held at Toyota Field this morning.
.....
Spurs Sports & Entertainment plans to operate a USL franchise in 2016. The USL is the largest professional soccer league in North America and features strong leadership and established ownership groups. The competitive league is comprised of successful independent teams as well as MLS-owned and operated franchises. Five of the last seven new MLS franchises played in the USL.

Does anyone know if NBC is doing the 'whip around' on boxing day again?

I'm not sure what they called it but last year they did two hours of coverage like the Red Zone channel for BPL. It was awesome.

I see it scheduled fo nbc sports for the 10am games. Called Breakaway.

so I have been playing Futsol. And besides being extremely sore from being old and playing on the hard surface (almost like a basketball court), Its been fun. Indoor without the boards. Anyone else playing?

The kids all play futsal in the winter now. Indoor turf leagues for youth are out. It's awesome that I get to buy a second pair of soccer shoe and another ball each winter.

I had a coach when I was a kid who got us playing it on basketball courts. always been a fan, since its about close control and circus stuff.

at this age, my body would break.

noticed over the summer that somebody built a legit futsol field/court in the neighborhood. oh- just googled... RBNY and US Soccer. ok. I guess that explains why it's locked up every time I've been by it.

Very strange word.

I believe I am of similar age and yes my body is breaking. But I am still deadly in short spurts!

Several of these places seem to be popping up near me. 2x 20 min halfs, 5v5... just hope the body can handle.

A$hley Cole to the Galaxy apparently. I might have to go to RFK for the DCU game just to get an "Ashley Cole, you're a %^&*@!" chant going.
and this is considered an upgrade over Omar Gonzalez?

MLS is so confusing sometimes.
It is even more confusing when you can't really evaluate the Gonzo move because they won't release the transfer fee.

We also need to wait to see what type of salary Cole is going to be getting. It probably can't be too much higher than what Gonzo was making at $1.45m a year to fit into the budget.

Maybe they really hate Robbie Rogers.

I don't get it either. Gerrard, Lamps, and Pirlo notwithstanding, the league was just beginning to shed its image as a well-paid retirement league by getting guys who still gave a #### like Drogba, Kaka, and Villa (and Giovinco, obviously). If Ashely Cole plays in LA there's a good chance he'll spend more time at the Playboy Mansion than the Stub Hub Center.

is their any validity to this yet? Best I can tell is this rumor came from some French magazine that barely knows what MLS is.

LA does not even have a DP slot open so if he is expecting really good money, he can't get it there.

This makes even less sense when we know LA is still regretting the Gerrard signing which they still are on the hook for for one more year.

Awesome. My guide shows Sunderland v Man City tho. Boxing Day right?
My fault. I was reading the soccer america email and missed a date break. They are doing breakaway for the Monday matches.

Looks like Drogba might be leaving Montreal. Tweets from the Impact indicate that even though he is under contract, he is talking to Chelsea possibly about an assistant coaching gig.

Looks like the Cole to LA rumor has some legs.

Ives is reporting that if he does come it will be on a non DP deal and will be on a free transfer. If those are the terms, it makes a little more sense but still seems like it could be a waste of money.

Anyone see the Liverpool/Leicester match on the TV schedule?

Looks like LVG is setting up his exit shortly

Asked if he had received assurances from the club hierarchy, Van Gaal told reporters: "I can also quit by myself.

"That is something I speak to Ed Woodward [about] by himself -- not with you.

"It is not always [that] the club has to fire or sack me. Sometimes I do it by myself. I am the one who wants to speak first with the board of Manchester United and with my members of staff and players -- and not with you."

Hard to imagine a team would struggle with Ashley Young and Daley Blind at Fullback and Fellaini as their attacking midfielder....

Memphis' pure awfulness has really been astounding to me. I get that he's young and the Dutch League's horrendous defenses were a big part of why he put up big stats, but he always looked really solid playing for the Dutch team. Kid looks absolutely lost out there.

One thing I think Man U underestimated in their team building this year was the need for a poacher. Every offensive player they added was of the shiny, skilled variety but they are lacking a good old fashioned "I don't care how I look" goal scorer.

This is of course magnified by the fact that Hernandez simply won't stop scoring in Germany where he has a fantastic 19 goals in 22 appearances this year.

Yeah, can't help but notice this every time a golden chance falls to the foot of Fellaini or Jesse Lingaard (who I still can't figure out what he actually does that makes him a Man U player)

Chelsea, United and Liverpool all outside the top-5. Weird season so far.
It would be even weirder if Liverpool were in the top-5...
LOL ... I mentally put the O/U on your response at 60 minutes when I wrote that. Should have bet the over.

But I concede your point. Spurs have more consistently finish 5th than Liverpool in recent years, while Liverpool have won just about every major trophy it's possible to win multiple times since Spurs last won any of them.
