I enjoy pro/rel in European leagues. I find it interesting. I see absolutely no reason to have it in MLS and I think the people who claim that the league can never be competitive until it gets it are delusional. What teams need, more than anything else, in order to invest is stability.

I've always wondered if teams like Exeter purposefully give up equalizers to get the away gate in the replay of these FA cup ties. Advancing to the next round was worth about 70,000 pounds. A share of the Anfield gate in the replay is worth about 10 times that.

interesting.

plus, getting to play at Anfield for those guys... priceless.

Unbelievable how far we've come.

@worldsoccertalk

NBCSN will feature Spurs U21 v Chelsea U21 Monday at 2:30pm ET. It’s the 1st-ever U21 EPL match on US TV #CFC #THFC

Carter-Vickers should play for the Spurs, for those that want to watch a possible young stud for the USMNT.
Chelsea also houses a talented young US international by the name of Kyle Scot.

He is one of those cats that has eligibility for a ton of countries but for now he has represented the US.

I do not know how much he plays, if at all, for the U21's but he broke into the Chelsea U18's as a 15 year old.

I enjoyed Wycombe vs. Villa this morning. Something about the minnows vs. giants FA Cup games that are so much fun to watch. Villa had a lot of chances and will probably win the home replay easily, but it was cool to listen to the Wycombe fans screaming and singing and cheering for the entire game and the players giving it their all.

Best RB in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

*one day very soon

edit: stay away BARCA!

Bellerin is turning into a world class defender/attackng back. Great Speed and touch. Fun to watch him play.

Hope Adelaide puts one in in his first game.

When I win Powerball I'm buying the Union, btw.
I was telling my wife this about the Revs but sadly after taxes, the one time payout for Powerball would not be enough.

It would be enough in Philly since the stadium is in place but I think you would need at least two other partners in that same asset range since most ownership groups in MLS are very very rich before the sale would be approved.

How do you NOT fire LvG at this point? Its like he's telling them NOT to attack. And every sub he makes is weird.

I know he's had plenty of success in the past, but when I watched the Dutch at the WC, it kinda seemed like their only strategy was just hoofing it down into space and letting Robben run it down and do magic.

Spurs with their own questionable Pen in the 89th min to salvage a draw against Leicester.

Should be an interesting game when the squads line up for a league match on Wednesday.

ETA: WTH Swansea?!?
That whole team is a mess right now. I don't care what PR spin they put on it, they panicked in firing Monk and clearly had zero plan on what to do after. Long story short, despite all the great PR over the last few years they are very much a small-time club who can no longer fight with the big boys. I fully expect them to collect money for a few players this transfer window and acquire a few longshot prospects in return. They seem to completely lack ambition at this juncture.

La Liga is getting interesting. If Zidane can harness the power of that talent, RM will be mightly tough to crack. Barça already has the talent and is now reinforced after the Jan window opening. Yet, Atlético are at the top of the table, just grinding out wins and keeping clean sheets. This is shades of the year they won the title, with the exception that Barça looks much better. This race won't come down to head to head IMO, it will come down to getting 3 points against everyone else. Do that, and you won't need to get 3 against the other top teams. All 3 teams can do this, although the hardest road will be for Atlético. They'll need some luck to make it work, or for a forward not named Griezmann to get hot.

Who would you get to run the team if you do fire LVG? Giggs is not ready (and should go coach elsewhere before taking over). As bad as LVG is, he is still in the FA Cup (barely), still in the hunt for the top 4 (barely) and still in view of the title (remotely). Despite RM making a change while still in contention for the CL and La Liga, I am not sure you can fire LVG without a top manager ready to go.

And his subbing is ridiculous. Has been all season.

I agree with this. Well-established leagues outside the US are a different animal. MLS might be there someday, but it isn't right now.

It could develop eventually. It's a great system for developing a national fanbase.

The MLS needs to further establish itself in the big cities though.

I think we all agree that it is a good system for an established league.

But what I don't understand is why would any MLS owner ever vote to change the franchise system?

The first thing foreign owners who buy into MLS comment on is how intelligent, financially, the franchise system is.

If the foreign owners like it, I can't see there ever being enough votes to change it.

I do believe like I said earlier, we may see an MLS2 some day but it will still be a franchise model.
