Francesco Totti is a deity.  He was just subbed in @ the 86th minute, with Roma trailing 2-1, wlith the final CL spot at stake...He proceeds to score in the same minute, completes the brace (& win) another 2 mins later, & just missed a hat trick in the 90th...at 39 1/2 yrs old.  He was subbed in @ 82nd minute Sunday, & scored 3 mins later to secure a draw.  He's played his whole career for Roma, & just when the American ownership try to cast him aside, he does this.  Sycophant that I am, I don't give a ####...he is Legend.  Guys, this #### just doesn't happen anymore...Un####ingbelievable...lol...I'm almost in tears...The King of Rome Is Not Dead!

Alético kept pace today with a sold 0-1 away win at Bilbao (5th in table).  RM up 1-0 agains Villarreal (4th in table).

Aside from Bayern, Atlético close out the season at home vs. Málaga, Home vs. Rayo, away at Levante and then Home vs. Celta.  The last game may be the toughest, as Athletic, Celta, and Sevilla will be fighting for Europa slots.  I think Villarreal have the final CL spot on lock being up 6 points.

I'd probably buy a Totti Cosmos jersey.
this tandem of posts made me giggle.

I'm torn on any Totti Cosmos move. plus side- I'd LOVE to see him play live again. but that field is the suck, and having him play in front of a couple thousand people in NC in the middle of heat suck summer.. on turf... would make my inner kafka cry a river.

Lol...was just telling my middle son the same thing...it would be awesome to see him live, but that would mean he was forced out of his only club, from the city he was born & raised...then said son proceeds to tell me..."Yeah dad, but we'd still get to see him live!".......Context, son......context.

Eta: with the new format, whenever I scroll down, it seems to inadvertently set off the "report" button/blue flag...never my intention, so sorry in advance if you get "reported". (unless it's Gator or Sebowski...then it's fully intentional &/or warranted)

I really don't get Everton this year. I've seen them play some games where they look completely unbeatable- granted, earlier in the year. but over the last couple months they look like they collectively don't give a crap.

wonder what timmeh will have to say about their collapse this season, and about martinez.
HELLO! It's me, Sebowski. FROM ONE YAER AGO!!!!!!

seriously- toffees used to be a team that worked it's collective ### off all over the field, compensating for whatever skill deficiencies with grit and guts... plus they had enough skill to be fun to watch. but 2016- again... don't know what happened.

It would be awesome if they brought Moyes back. I bet they'd throw a parade. Maybe even put the statue back up.

The final is set in the DFB Pokal.

Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund in Berlin on May 21st.

This will be Bayern's 21st appearance in the final (17 titles), Dortmund's 8th (3 titles)

This is Dortmund's third year in a row in the final, fourth in five years, Bayern's fourth in five years as well.

These two teams have met in the final three times.

2008 - Bayern won 2-1 after extra time
2012 - Dortmund won 5-2
2014 - Bayern won 2-0 after extra time

This Origi injury really stinks.  We have to prioritize Sturridge for the Europa now, which means what for Saturday's game?  I shudder to say it, but will Benteke get a start?  LIV have been so good offensively in 2016, and to lose Origi just as we need to finish strong hurts.

Normally id say put Firmy up top Satirday, but that would be his 3rd game in a week.

I think Sturridge and Origi are on 11. You have to go back to Torres days for a Liverpool team w/ five goalscorers at 10+(Torres had like 30+ though).

Benteke getting 10 would be cool. I also don't think Benteke is complete crap. Give him a run while the team is in form, like now, and lets see. He scores goals when fed the ball. He is Plan B, but that doesn't mean he is terrible. He'll be around in the Prem for years to come. Not at Liverpool though.

He had to play with a mix and match team and coach. Ruined his chance to breakthrough.

Benteke 8Coutinho 12Firmino 10Milner 7Origi 10Sturridge 10Sakho 2

And yes, the list is copy and paste from the Liverpool site.

Good morning, gentlemen.  Normally when I post this early, it's to clarify or redact previous statements I made the previous night (or day, who am I kidding) while inebriated... But yesterday, when I said I was almost moved to tears, I wanted to play it off jokingly, ex post facto...but it what was true.  The whole Totti saga is not of this day,  of this time...anyways, just went on my favorite Roma blog, & they were posting videos of grown men literally crying when Totti scored the game winner.  One in particular was a known Roma Ultra/criminal...so, I got that going for me...which is nice.  Just wish I could convey what Totti means to Roma, & Roma to me,  a little more eloquently & poetically.  Roma has only won 3 Scudetti in her history, but I would willingly trade a Scudetto next year, for one more year of Totti.  Nonsensical? Yes.  (All drama aside, there is no other team quite like Roma, who still have 4 homegrown Romans on their squad).  Pragmatic?  No...but I wouldn't it trade for any silverware.  El Fin.

See if you can tell which of these is the Boring James Milner parody and which is actually boring James Milner...

“I like to get forward and try to create as many chances as I can, and goals. That’s something I work on."

"You just want to contribute. It’s nice to keep contributing."

I do think it would be interesting to see Benteke in the side right now.  Perhaps he will get another chance.  Much of his problem was due to a lack of confidence.  He was pressing.  But maybe now after having had some time away from the field, the lack of confidence has been replaced with a desperation to play.

Personally, I'm with Gator that we need to put Firmino up top this game.  But I woudn't be shocked to see Benteke given one more try.  If he could bag another couple goals before the season ends, that would only help his selling price in the summer.

EPL team of the year appears to have been leaked:

DeGea, Bellerin, Alderweireld, Morgan, Rose, Mahrez, Kante, Alli, Payet, Vardy, Kane

So 4 Spurs, 4 Foxes - nobody from Man City, Chelsea, or Liverpool

ETA - 4 Foxes - mis-counted initially.

Seems about right.  Alli over Ozil is a bit of a surprise, but the Arsenal forwards stopped finishing his chances.  Maybe could have gone 4-3-3 and put in Kun over Alli as well.  I though Huth was better than Morgan, but either is fine.  The rest are all no-brainers, IMO.

Ditoo.

Huth, Ozil mebbe Kun, but no real quibbles either way.

Rogers/the committee will never be forgiven for not getting Alli

Fatty Ronaldo's buck teeth > Captain Underpant's abdominals.  Truth.
I thought we had something...

PS, my kid wore his Totti jersey to school today. I asked him if he saw what Totti did yesterday, he said "yup, that's why I'm wearing it"

Its going to be interesting to see who Wilmots selects up front in France this summer. I think Benteke would have been the clear #1 in Brazil if not injured, and it seemed by the end of the tournament Origi had passed Lukaku on the depth chart. And yet, on current form and based on the most recent games, I think most expect Lukaku to enter the tournament as the #1 striker.

/what i meant to say/...Portuguese Ronaldo would kick that fat Brazilian's Ronaldo's buck teeth in with that gorgeous right foot of his...The twinkle in Christiano's eyes > the dull, listless gaze of Ronaldo-the-rotund.

Do we still have something?

I think Origi is the best of the lot, but much depends on this ankle injury and whether Origi gets to play or not.  That being said, I am not familiar with Belgium and their style of play. I'd imagine that if I had Origi and Lukaku, I'd make an effort to get them both on the field.

Offer them Hendo plus 20M this summer and see what happens.

Is Origi >> Lukaku a real thing?  Maybe I'm jaded and still haven't come around far enough on Divock, but that seems kind of out there to me.

Not yet, but his trajectory seems like he'll get there

Update, I guess Origi escaped breaking anything

Saw there were no bones involved, are you saying no torn ligaments either?  Haven't seen that yet.

Would be sweet if he continued to be an impact player.  Coutinho, Can, Origi, Sakho maybe a few others.  Decent transfers in lately.

Speaking of... if Lallana could finish he'd be a star.  He gets himself into so many good positions.

Yeah, not sure about nothing torn..have not read that.

You're correct about Lallana...even though he should have laid that first chance yesterday across to Origi for a tap in. He gets in very very good positions
