There are a minimum of 4 world class players for Atlético right now, and one that was formerly world class.  There are 3 others that might be world class soon.

That team has more talent than the top 3 and maybe 4 in the EPL table.

But feel free to keep disrespecting them and their talent.

Fella named Stevens ties it up for Brighton and then minutes later is tossed for gashing Southampton loanee Gaston Ramirez. Looking like a trip to Hillsborough is next up for the Gulls.

And done. Bring on Wednesday!!!

I'll be in England for the final at Wembly. Hope to have a chance to make a trip there to watch the Gulls.

How many teams get relegated in EPL?  Is Norwich in danger here being in 2nd-to-last?

(I watch pretty much all sporting events with no sound, so forgive me if it's been discussed.)

Bottom 3 get relegated.  Villa is already going down.  Norwich appear to be and then one of Newcastle or Sunderland

Leicester has played 4,550 games and their all-time goal difference is +1  :lmao:
I understand your :lmao: ...but do you not see the irony in you defense of "The greatest league in the world"'s supplication to said stat?  Well-rounded? Yes...but it took a true Roman (Claudio) to invade & sack England once again...all in the name of mediocrity.. #pennywise/pound foolish #

ETA: yes, I fully expect another  :lmao:  as  you dissect my "statement"

You guys are some weird ####ers. Some don't want to look at depth when discussing depth. Others want to go back 132 years to make a point about the present.

Only thing better would be if the spurs wouldn't have been ####### and held off Chelsea so that the foxes wouldn't have been champs until the final whistle

PS, it's beer fest day :banned:

Considering the press that Wimbledon continue to get for winning the FA Cup, with a team that finished top half of the EPL several times, Arlo's probably right that this is the "greatest tale ever told in English football."  I can't think of anything remotely close in any sport.

Hoosiers is a great story, but that's HS basketball in one state.  If Butler's last-second half-court heave had gone in maybe that.  But that and the Miracle on Ice were so few games that anything could happen.  IIRC the Rays were something like 100-1 to win the World Series pre-season, and Greece were around the same to win the 2004 Euros.  ESPN tells me some 200-1 and 300-1 longshots have come good, but this is 10-20x less likely.

Yea he definitely understated that. It's the biggest upset ever by a mile.

True..I think the real beauty lies in the fact that it was played out over such a long period of time.  Come January, all the pundits said there was no way they could stay up for the CL places...then gradually, it became top 3, top 2, then Holy ####! The title?!... It is a shame, because Tottenham had such an excellent season also, whereas if they had a chance to win the title, it would also have been a huge story...(and Sir Harry Kane made me find belief in the Ainglush again...He is the anti-Rooney).  Great to see the Foxes & HotSpurs throw the EPL in a tizzy.

That goal by Spurs is everything that's wrong with the passive offside rule.  The Soton defenders step up as the ball is being played because they know they've got Kane trapped offside.  And Kane is running TO the pass.

But even if Kane's not moving into the passing channel, it's a terrible rule.  Because it's impossible to move in two directions at once and playing the offside trap requires all defenders to move in unison, there is no one left to track the run of Son.  Son is left unmarked for no other reason than the defenders are playing Kane, who is in an offside position.  Kane isn't just involved in the play he's at the heart of it.

Hate hate hate it.

I got no beef with the play. There's no god given right to the offside trap working in every instance. Defenders have to pay attention to everyone.

But more importantly how do we all like this late season charge by Southampton?

 La Liga battle for today:

Barcelona 27-4-5 85
Atletico Madrid 27-4-5 85
Real Madrid 26-6-4 84

Today
Espanyol (14) at Barcelona
Atletico at Levante (20)
Valencia (9) at Real Madrid

Next Saturday
Barcelona at Granada (16)
Celta (6) at Atletico
Real Madrid at Deportivo (15)

() = position in current table

Barcelona wins 5-0, Real Madrid wins 3-2 and Atletico lose 1-2

leaving

Barcelona 28-4-5 88
Real Madrid 27-6-4 87
Atletico 27-4-6 85

This elimnates Atletico, right?
