Only one team was within 2 points, punted another competition to hopefully overtake them and couldn't.
That is a bit of an exaggeration. No - that is a huge exaggeration.
Dele Alli had only 7 YCs in the league last season - 1 in his last 16 games. 3 came in his first 6 games, when he was playing deeper in the line-up in the CM2 position, and stepping up two levels. It is true that he can be a bit petulant, but he was rarely on yellow "because he lost his cool". Most of those incidents were not disciplined - until the final gut punch...
I don't even know where to start with Dier. He had 10 YCs on the year, and he did have to serve an accumulation penalty. BUT, 5 YCs came in his first 8 games - when he was adjusting to his new position as DM. The other 5 came in 29 games - pretty decent number for a DM imo. Overall - it was 10 YCs in 51 games. Only ONCE did he take a yellow that would be classified as "losing his cool" - and that was at Chelsea, so that is acceptable.
Neither player picked up a Red Card all season. So neither were "constantly on yellows" and when they were on yellows it was not "because they lost their cool".
And the team will be fine - they lost their heads at Chelsea, and then coasted in the last few games when the title was out of reach. But, they were not out of control last season. I do expect they will have spirited battles against Arsenal and Chelsea again this season, but that is to be expected in the NLD, and London Derby's in general (though it seems West Ham cares more about playing Spurs than Spurs care about playing West Ham, and CP does not really fit into the equation)

I was watching Black Market on Viceland last night.
This episode was called Lifted in London. It was about shoplifting food to eat or other items to get food/drugs. Took them 8min to to mention Liverpool then spent the rest of the 30min episode there.

I agree with your sentiment. Leicester are champions. They need to drop points to fall. I think they keep this story going and are in the top 4 long enough to make another run. I don't see any good reason why they won't.

that team was built to counter and absorb a TON of pressure against the top teams. Morgan and Huth were lights out all season, and their opponents weren't able to put away the opportunities that were there- not numerous, but there every game. IMO, there were a lot of squandered chances by those top teams, plus a lack of discipline pushing so high up the field to push against a team dropped so far back and then getting sucker punched. I don't see the top teams- especially with these new managers- allowing the counters to be so relatively easy. it also seemed like Vardy or Mahrez would finish practically every single counter presented... it was uncanny- and unlikely to continue again, especially with teams geared up for them.
that was the top teams... against the rest of the league- who weren't pressing high and were set up to do more or less what leicester does, leicester looked totally average, IMO. they weren't set up to control the ball and break deep-lying teams down. they gutted out a bunch of 1-0 victories that tbh could have gone either way with a ball bouncing differently.
so- in combo with losing Kante... a guy who shut down the middle of field and made teams go wide to try to put crosses in against a back four that was outstanding defending those... they also will have teams ready to play against their approach and not give up the counters AND will have to play CL games. I just don't see anything more than mid-table from them..

It should be interesting to see how the USWNT loss will affect their upcoming CBA negotiations.

But I think that it is a bit disingenuous.
The USMNT drew World Cup TV audiences bigger than any baseball, basketball or hockey game (and 4 times as large as the women's Olympic games) but we know that does not make them automatically as popular as other sports/teams.
It is the same with the women, on a smaller scale.
The event is the big driver imo.

He was commenting on Rebecca Lowe and someone else being in rio while the EPL was kicking off and the size of the audience. Sounded a little off to me, but wasnt quite sure.

The most watched EPL games typically draw roughly around 1 million. One of the recent US Women's Olympic game drew around 5 million . That is where he is getting the 5 times number from I believe.

it makes sense. The women (and men) will draw a bigger number due to the event. With no well televised league games you cant really compare USWNT to EPL though.

Do you think I'm contradicting myself with putting them 8? Thought about it but with Mahrez possibly leaving and Kante gone they could be without 2 of their better players from last season. I think they will want to show something in Europe so will chance tired legs in league play. Theirs worst-case scenario is to get 3rd in their group and go to the Europa league and fall to mid-table. I think fighting for a European spot for next season wouldn't be horrible result for them.Sebowski said:

Interesting reads on Chelsea and Tottenham over the past few pages.
Tottenham tried to Arsenal the off-season. I think that only works for Arsenal because they are full of great players.
I don't think Tottenham will sneak up on anyone, and 6 of their main rivals have all improved in players and coaching.
I still think they finish top four, mostly because I'm not optimistic on Chelsea or Arsenal. But I don't think they are anywhere near the title this year.

Yikes this season really sneaks up on you in America. I have been extremely busy with worth so I don't get to persue FBG's much. I am looking through it today while eating breakfast and I pop into the wagering thread to see EPL bets. Had no idea it started today!!
