No.  Arsenal still have 4th place in their sights.

I don't think anyone realistically expects Leicester to compete for a top-4 spot.  They had a great season, where everything went right for them.  They were fighting relegation 2 seasons ago.  Mid-table, with a chance at Europa, is about where they belong.

I get that teams need to win all season, but arent arsenal ' injury ravaged right now? 

IMO, it's going to be interesting to see how Leicester play- can they take advantage, can the new players properly integrate and make a difference and can the defense hold against a quality team now that Huth should be back. and can the gunners back line keep vardy and pals out.... should be a fun one.

Def looking forward to see how Cinderella does after winning it all last season.  Do they still go with the same hunger? Can they?

As for Arsenal, I guess it depends on how the other title chasers get through this weekend.  If Arsenal comes away with 0 points after two and the rest are 6 up already they are in danger of being this year's Chelsea, United (under Moyes).  Could be in for a long season despite everyone going to be dropping points at some point, esp when they are all playing each other.

didn't arsenal start really slowly last year, or the year before? I don't really worry about them- would be interesting if they finish out of the top 4, only to see who takes their spot... but I dont' think it's going to happen.

but speaking of them... didn't ramsey get hurt? or eaten by his own dogs?

 
I don't think anybody can lose the title in August.  Everybody remembers Chelsea's poor start last year but forget that Spurs started off 1-3-1.  There are lots of games left to play to get the 80-90 points needed to win. 

But if a team is 7-9 points back heading into the international break, it increases the pressure to make something happen at the transfer deadline.  This is probably a bigger deal for Arsenal than for the other contenders.

yeah Ramsey is hurt as is most of the Cbs, so much they are looking at Jonny Evans....  But slow starts might not be good this year, if Liverpool is legit, a resurgent Chelsea and United.  Tottenham hoping to build on last season.  City still looking good with Pep.

I'm not gonna heap praises on Mourinho for getting guys that fit his system when he bought Paul Pogba for 100M and got one of the top strikers in the entire world.

ManU and Southampton both had 11 shots, despite ManU having about as superior a talent advantage as you'll see.

Southamptons striker is a converted winger from Norwich who had 11 goals in four years.....

In the end, two bigtime Zlatan goals were the difference.

I still predict that ManU will win the league, but they seemed far more secure in the back last year than this year. 

Thats Mourinhos specialty though, so I'm sure he will get it fixed.

Big difference in Arsenal, City, LIV and Tott is that those four teams all can turn on the high press and smother teams.  Not sure that ManU has that ability with their front 4-5 players.  My forays into soccer analysis usually turn out bad, but that's how I see it.

Agreed, but you can't fault Jose for his budget...once his system is implemented, he should give Chelsea a run for their money...

I don't fault him.  I'm sure he will win a title.  I just hope it goes amazingly wrong at some point.  Right now all the egos are melding perfectly.  If major adversity happens, it will be fun to watch.

The total, which can grow because there is still six more months before the team plays its first game, is believed to be the most season tickets sold by an expansion club in MLS history.

The total also places Atlanta United second only to the Sounders in season-ticket sales for any MLS club, according to Eales.

By comparison, the Hawks averaged 16,832 in general attendance at Philips Arena during the 2016 season. The Braves are averaging 22,904 in general attendance this season at Turner Field.

 
Minnesota United officially announced as coming to MLS in 2017, keeping both their name and crest (which IMO is one of the best in American soccer).

I know plenty of folks out there are thinking "oh great another United :rolleyes:  ", but I think the name works logically for Minnesota, with the uniting of the Twin Cities in mind.

Atlanta United on the other hand....

They are tracking to be one of the top 5-7 soccer clubs in average attendance in their first season in our entire hemisphere.  

And this in a city where many thought it was going to be a disaster given the lack of support of other pro teams in the city over the years.

If they some how manage a competitive squad and don't blow the great start, they could really have something to build on in their early years.

I believe the genesis of the name is not a direct copy of the English team name United.

Minnesota's owner is Bill McGuire was the chairman and CEO of United Health Group for 15 years and supposedly that is where the name came from if I remember the story right.

I do like your interpretation better though.

I like his game even if he's a bit of a plodder. He acquitted himself decently against what might be the most talented team in the league this season.

FTR I did watch the game from a tiny bar in Penn Yan, NY yesterday. When I walked in and asked the barkeep if he could dial up the Man U game he said "Sure, no problem. What sport is that?"

 
This is still the Liverpool thread, right?

Good to get one of the Liverpool fan contractually obligated kicks in the nuts out of the way early like this.
