Chelsea looking to buy AC Milan's CB Romagnoli for 40-50 mil.  That's insane...Milan just bought him for 25 m last year (a fee deemed excessive, even then...& he's preformed so-so.  The talent is there, not sure about the rest.

Interesting to see Milan conducting transfer negotiations via their official website. http://www.acmilan.com/it/news/prima-squadra/2016-08-25/ac-milan-comunicato-ufficiale

Tough draw for Arsenal and Man City.  Easy draws for Leicester. Tott is no walk in the park, it looks like four really solid teams.

English teams avoided a ton of top teams.  Arsenal should be even money to win group.  Spurs and LC should be favored to win the group.  City will get 2nd and advance.  Great chances to actually have English representation in latter stages.

Arsenal should advance.  City seems to have a group c of death feel.  Tott and Leicester have a good chance to advance.
if Leicester can't advance... probably for the better- will signify their team can't compete against mid-range teams, and so they'll really need to concentrate on the league. and if they do advance, will be interesting to see how it affects them in the epl.

Tott should be fine there- will be interesting to watch them figure out how to balance who plays when.

I think this response was to Chelsea's original offer, & then Chelsea upped it to 40-50 m€...but I'm not sure...can't imagine Milan turning down even 40m, with the sad state of affairs they are currently in.

Will have to wait on the knockout stages for their inevitable let-down

I'll be ready to join in this Group Stage Talk tomorrow. Right after I finish googling Southampton's opponents. And then google their opponents' countries.

Booo.  Ronaldo didn't deserve it IMO.  He wasn't the most important player on either of the championship sides.
Perhaps not in the two championship games (due to injury), but over the course of the competition - particularly Champions League (16 goals) - there's no doubt about CR. That second leg against Wolfsburg ...

sorry, gb- hard to look at that without thinking what a cake-walk your guys would have had in their stead.

Starting next year, the Serie A 3 (and 4th) will qualify directly to the group stage, so no risk of getting kicked out by a plucky side from Portugal.

Balotelli to nice? or is that ... too nice.

I hope he goes somewhere- great fun watching him play... he seems to get the- reality-tv drama angle of the sport.

####### West Ham.  What a bunch of nimrods.  They aren't going to do better than Europa and they aren't going to be relegated.  Put out a team that can win.  There's nothing to lose.

So, which big team crashes out in the CL group stage?

Could be Atlético...
Cholo has ice running through his/their (by proxy) veins... team wise, there's too much of a professional/cynical attitude for me to see them fail in the group stages.  They are the Spanish Juve, IMO...
