Sliding or just falling in general is way too rough. I often play keeper, so those fields become less fun.My turf field is better than the gofer holed up grass field next to it. So I've gotten used to turf. We don't slide at all though.
I watched that game... Ecuador REALLY unlucky in that. thought they had the better of things throughout.. until a very clear PK that neymar buried, and then an iffy red (second yellow for tackling over the ball... all ball, and the cleats went up just barely- and of course the brazilian made a complete meal of it and then all 10 brazil field players surrounded the ref). 3-0 was the final, but didn't at all mirror the game.Brazil had a huge win on the road last night beating Ecuador on the road. They are still on the outside looking in but now are right back in striking distance.
they didn't have field turf when I played. astro only. that #### was lethal. friends at cal (who played and trained on it) said they could recognize the grain direction and knew to only slide with the grain to minimize the burn. I knew better than to slide on that crap.I imagine they've improved but when I played intramural and college, I once went right down and back up on a field turf field. No sliding or anything. It took about a 6 x 3 inch piece of skin off my shin and left a wound that still wept 14 months later. No bueno.
You couldn't slide on that crap no matter which way the grain went. It was the sand and rubber that got you.they didn't have field turf when I played. astro only. that #### was lethal. friends at cal (who played and trained on it) said they could recognize the grain direction and knew to only slide with the grain to minimize the burn. GetafeI don't remember if it was Espanyol or Getafe (one of those lesser teams from one of the two big cities in Spain) that had Burger King as the sponsor a few years back. They had players have a picture of the King on their undershirts so they could reveal him when they scored. And the King would be sitting up in the owner's box watching the game. It was gloriously bizarre.
And Serie A?Hey @Sebowski, Jurgen has a message for you:
http://www.espnfc.us/liverpool/story/2943190/jurgen-klopp-says-premier-league-much-tougher-than-la-liga
, to play where they play. It's a sad state of affairs in Serie A, adesso.
Good point; this is also true, to some extent. The irony being, the only team who has recovered, is the main culprit: La Vecchia Signora; or as I like to call "her", that rich old c#nt.It's never fully recovered from Calciopoli
Si, but Internazionale's new signing, "Gabigol", scored the last two, which is nice, if you're a misguided Beneamata fan.I watched that game... Well, he sure is an expert on La Liga. Glad he finally weighed in on it. Just because...you said never refer to Inter as Internazionale...So I did it.damn- why you have to be so... that.
Gabriel Jesus scored the brace. Not Gabriel "Gabigol" Barbosa.Kafka said:Si, but Internazionale's new signing, "Gabigol", scored the last two, which is nice, if you're a misguided Beneamata fan.
Mea culpa.Gabriel Jesus scored the brace. Not Gabriel "Gabigol" Barbosa.

Wow glad it's benign but brain surgery is scary stuff.yikes
======================
New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday is set to miss the start of the 2016-17 season as his pregnant wife, former U.S. women's national team soccer player Lauren Holiday, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Lauren Holiday, a two-time gold medalist and 2015 World Cup winner, will undergo surgery about six weeks after the birth of the couple's first child. The tumor, which is benign, was found on the right side of her brain in late June.
"Devastating," Jrue Holiday told the New Orleans Times-Picayune of the diagnosis.
The child's due date is in mid-October, but the Holidays plan to induce labor earlier in order to expedite Lauren Holiday's surgery. The couple plans to reside in the Raleigh, North Carolina, area, near the Duke University medical specialists who will handle Lauren Holiday's surgery.
Even so, Jrue Holiday will miss an indefinite number of games while he supports his wife's recovery and cares for their newborn.
"My family comes before basketball," Jrue Holiday told the Times-Picayune. "I'm obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else."
To be clear, I'm talking about Skrtel this time.Waiting for Gator's breakdown of the Skrtel red card. Guy's a nut case.
Should have been a straight red, but since Skrtel is no longer a Liverpool problem, I doubt Gator cares one way or the other that he stomped Kane's leg.Waiting for Gator's breakdown of the Skrtel red card. Guy's a nut case.
Sure he does...Kane still plays for the team you support.Should have been a straight red, but since Skrtel is no longer a Liverpool problem, I doubt Gator cares one way or the other that he stomped Kane's leg.

Why would they need to be offered money to beat Canada?@AndresCantorGOL 37m37 minutes ago
BREAKING. El Salvador players just ended a presser. They played a recording of a man that offered them money to beat Canada or lose by 1
@AndresCantorGOL 25m25 minutes ago
According to the man on the recording,the offer to EL Salvador players was:$30 per min played for a win.$20/min for a tie,$15 for a 1-0 loss
The score differential looks kid of meaningless for the group, so this must be focused on just this exact game they want to fix for specific bets.Why would they need to be offered money to beat Canada?

As for being offered money to beat Canada, I think it is a point spread they are looking at. If ELS was to be winning by 2 goals, I think the bettors want them to give one back (or try to not score if leading by 1).
The Salvador Football Federation confirmed the news on its Facebook page, posting a video and releasing a statement which read: "Players from the national football team revealed this [Monday] afternoon in a news conference a recording of a Salvador businessman Ricardo Padilla offering them "prizes" to win, draw or even lose against their Canada counterparts.
"The news conference took place while in the team's camp in Vancouver, Canada, where tomorrow [Tuesday] a game will take place against the North American opponents.
"According to Padilla, he is acting in representation of a Honduras millionaire that wanted to guarantee the qualification of the Catracha [Honduras] national team."
Mexico lead Group A and have already secured a place in the final round of qualifying, while Honduras are second in the standings, three points clear of Canada, who are third.
