Kind of half-heartedly watching Dortmund/Freiberg on my phone right now.  Pulisic on the bench.  Mor and Dembele are mad talented, but both tend to lack some end product for me.  Tenacious P lacks a bit of their sizzle, but he makes better decisions in the box, IMO.

From what I understand coaches can't recruit before Jr. year, so they use ID camps.  I just don't know what these really are.

I totally agree w/ 'tap the brakes' but I just wanted to understand more about what this means.

Her goal is to play D1 and make the USWNT.  Seems like she's on the path for the first and then later the second.  Her family isn't rushing it, but are just trying to keep all doors open for now.
Very cool.

You should start a thread so we can follow her journey.

that's awesome.

and regional player these days means she's something special (as opposed to guys like andy and me who basically just had to show up with a ball)- definitely on her way.

and fwiw- the brakes thing was solely pointed towards college recruitment... the rest should be pedal to the metal.

Regional is a pretty big deal, especially since her region includes the GREAT STATE OF TEXASS.

If you ask Gonzalez, the North Texas region is among the top five in the USA when it comes to local youth soccer talent, behind only Southern California, Northern California, and New York, while rivaling other regions like Chicago, Houston and South Florida.
from andy's article on FC Dallas' youth academy.

that's great- you're only behind S and N Cal (*bam* :boxing:  )  and NY (*pow* : :gang1: ).

we really need to have a soccer thread kick-around cornhole.

eta:

aka- drinking.
Well, you can just count me out, mister, when you include drinking...sheesh, we ARE respectable people, down in ol' Del-a-Where!

Seriously, though, we should do it...just ask @Sebowski how well it went last year, when Kafka was left with the "logistical" planning...Virginia & "Sebowski's Place" might as well have been on the West Coast...I even rented a car........nevermind :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ...my wife still hasn't forgiven me, but I blame Sebowski, for micturating on my not-so-well laid plans...

eta: @Ramsay Hunt Experience , for some odd reason, you intimidate me with your self-deprecating intellect, reasoning, & level-headed aproach to everything.  IRL, if anyone I know heard me admit to being intimidated by anyone, hilarity would ensue.  That's a compliment, by the way...& why I love this thread..all things subjective.  I subscribe to a Mid- East Atlantic "cornhole", but my fellow Serie A (Southampton) "unchurched leftist" sycophant @roadkill1292, must oblige also.  It could be good times.

Seeing NYCFC tonight... seems an alum bought a suite, partially for soccer alums and partially for friends. suite 1. literally no idea what I'm getting into- inside, outside, booze, or what. my old teammate, the NYCFC dr, is supposed to make an appearance. maybe he'll bring Lampard, who I hear is hurt.

that said, I might have to do unnatural things inat suite as means of payment. wouldn't be the first time.
So the minister at this wedding I'm at just told me he wanted to be a part nycfc from the beginning so he bought s as on tickets season 1. Then he realized most games were Sunday....

Glad that minister has his priorities straight...did you kneel at the appropriate time(s), heathen?

From DC. Been in San Diego 14 years. OB for 13. Spent 2 years recently helping open Ocelot Brewing Company with my family in Dulles, VA.
very nice.  I grew up in north county and moved up to orange county for college.  Love SD.  Spent a lot of time in OB... ahh the views.

Swelling is slight, but there. Less than moderate. It's on the inside of my knee cap and outside of the opposite side?

Zero clicking.

4 ibprophens, ice, and lots of beer. Plus motivation to run through a new stop got my moving tonight. It hurt a bunch when I stepped on something that sent my toes back towards my shins. Like the knee was prone to bend wrong?

Hoping strain/sprain over anything serious. I don't have any Obamacare. It was dibilitating earlier though.

Maybe I just need to stay drunken up and iced up?
Doesn't sound like when I tore my lateral meniscus.  Not sure I can really offer anything.  My knee was swollen like a grapefruit/softball for like 2 days after I'd play a game before I had surgery.

It's getting more swollen now. Good sign? :oldunsure:
What I will say is that I played for 4 months on a torn meniscus.  By the time I couldn't take the pain anymore and finally went to the doctor, I had shredded the hell out of it and it was beyond repair.  They removed it and much of the cartilage behind my kneecap and 8 years later I was diagnosed with moderate arthritis at 26 "you have the knee of a 60 year old man".  Don't be stupid*.  Go see a doctor.

* I still play against doctor's advice.

I was told when I had the surgery at 18 that I would likely have arthritis by 25 and be in line for a knee replacement at some point in my 40s, depending on technology,  I should probably give it up but I love playing too much.  I'll stop playing when I'm no longer capable of playing competitively.

During our summer season, our weekly games are usually on Sundays with an occasional Wednesday or Thursday cup game mixed in.  It's actually very difficult for me to play 2 games in 4 days if we have a Thursday/Sunday week.  We used to have a fall league where they'd schedule games back-to-back on Saturday/Sunday and we always had trouble fielding 11.  One week I played the full 90 in both and almost couldn't walk for like 5 days.  Never doing that again.

im sure thats where most of us are.  Playing over 35 now, cant chase the 25 year olds around anymore.

My sister has done each knee twice and is still playing.

I'm 29, still playing with the young kids.  I get a year older, and there's a fresh crop of 18 year old players running circles around me every year.  Still have the passing touch and ball skills but I'm not beating too many 19 year olds 1v1 on the wing these days.

My shoulder is actually in far worse shape than my knee, I'd say.  Combination of ####ty genetics and contact sports, I guess.

oh to be 29 again......

okeleedokelee... leaving the office for the game.

I hope to god I don't end up some hedge-fund manager's love slave. a little.

KNEE CHAT!  63 years + torn meniscus + arthritis = partial knee replacement this coming Thursday. I doubt the hospital will have BeIN Connect or whatever obscure channel will have the Saints game in Israel that afternoon.

If said hospital doesn't have the Saints game, then that's some pretty ####ty healthcare right there...Blame Obama.

GL, gb...

:lmao:   Thanks for the good wishes and the invite to your cornhole earlier. If said chop shop has wi-fi, maybe I can stream the game on my tablet somehow. Saints in EL + pain pills =
