I don't usually pay much attention to the manager moves in the Bundesliga.  I've got the TV on and the match between Ingolstadt and Darmstadt, currently 17th and 18th in the table, and I see that Torsten Frings is the manager for Darmstadt.  Yes, that Torsten Frings.

[Carson]I did not know that[/carsonon]

AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN ALL OF YOU.  JOSE TROLLS THE HELL OUT OF ME AND NOT ONE OF YOU NOTICED (ok maybe he was trolling Moyes but still.)  FOR SHAME!!

Not only did he start the :fro:  but your captain for Sunderland v United was the great Fro himself!

I was going to post something, but wasn't sure you could handle it.  I've softened in my old age.  Hope you're ok in what I'm sure is a very difficult time.

Appreciate that.  Just very upsetting to see mr elbow get the captaincy over Zlatan or Herrera?  I guess he was the longest serving player in the starting lineup   :wall:  which is a whole other issue... In the end it doesn't really matter I guess?  But he shouldn't even be on the team, let alone start, so to get captaincy for even 1 game makes me sad.

you should be more concerned about how crap they looked until zlat scored and seb had his rush of blood. first 30 minutes they looked outplayed by the mighty mighty black cats.

Not sure if they looked outplayed but yes they did look horrible.  Have for awhile.  Often looking disjointed and without intensity.  Trying to be too fancy.

Fro is part of the problem, he doesn't fit in with the team. Hes too slow, lacks creativity, cant win a header and passes backwards or to the other team all too often, poor defensively  and gives away needless fouls and gets booked.

Lingard causes problems too.  Lacks vision, makes poor runs, no positional discipline and often gets in the way of others.

Mata's injury has lost them some creativity in MF that opens up Mkhi, Pogba, Martial, Zlatan....

You are not wrong. Either way....

aside from a flash here or there, yeah- lingard is a head-scratcher and nowhere near EPL level. I defended Pogba early on, in spite of his lack of production... but it continues and he just doesn't seem to play well with others. still a fan, but this isn't working out yet. they should try to get schneiderlin from everton- he looks good, and probably won't be that expensive.

To me, Lingard is a solid squad player and rotational guy, plus he is English and came from the academy, so he has value.  Works hard, can give some people breaks.  A Welbeck/Ashley Young type.  But why he gets the call over Martial, Rashford, Mata, Mkhi as often as he does?  He has a poor game and still plays the next one.  Martial, who is 10x the player has a poor game and sits for a month.  Makes no sense.

Overall I have no complaints on Pogba.  He has hit the woodwork 9 times and would have double digit assists if people he plays in could finish.  Not to mention the few one on ones and hes missed.  He has completed more forward passes in the offensive half then any other midfielder (? maybe player?) in the epl.  I may have misheard that last one. He covers a lot of ground and his strength and skill have helped alleviate pressure several times.  Has he been worth the 90 mill? Not yet.  But I also think he can be and he gets too much criticism because of that tag.  I do believe he will settle, another year to mature (hes 23) and a couple of those fall and he will come good.

And yes United need to support him with a true defensive MF.  Carrick is slowing down unfortunately.  Herrera and Pogba have played well together so maybe Herrera can, but he does like to get forward too.  A Kroos type would be good.  So disappointed Schneiderlin wasnt given the chance.  LVG ruined him and TSO never let him play.  Some think he wasn't suited for DM.  But he is doing well for Everton, in that role.

Ok, looking at getting this for my son.  As I've never bought any jerseys or kits before, is this reasonable?  Going to fall apart in 2 days?  Or ####### badass as it looks?

Wish I were him....
I have a MN United jersey I paid like twice that amount for (More expensive with an MLS patch apparently).  It feels like the patches will come off, but I've washed it probably 20 times and it's solid.  Not sure if the material/brand is the same, but seems like a normal youth price.

Man, I don't care what anyone says, I feel awful for poor Giuseppe Rossi.  Last week he scores a hattrick for Celta Vigo in La Liga.  This week he tears his ACL (in the leg that he hasn't mangled a million times already).

was just coming in here to post something about this. something a bit more snarky, but yeah. sucks for him.

Are we thinking Pulisic will start today?  He started over the weekend, so he may be a second half sub...  that make the most sense?
He hadn't started the two games before that.  He's generally played in Europe and I sense he's the player they trust the most in that position so long as Reus is injured. He's clearly outplayed Schurrle and Mor (who is a pup himself).  So I'm guessing he starts.

It was somewhat telling that Bayern paid a lot of attention to Pulisic, and made sure to push him back by making him have to defend Lahm.  While that means that CP didn't have the best game against Bayern, they actually gave Dembele less attention (and Dembele was shockingly bad).

Damn, did Didier Drogba really just sign with a USL team?
This is all tied into the MLS expansion bid.

He is joining the team now on the field to help generate some publicity for their bid and then he intends to move into a front office position if they can secure one of the expansion teams.

I believe he has a stake in ownership as well.

I think Guardian writers really enjoy their turn on the daily Rumor Mill column.

Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovich has told “his closest mates”, who in turn have confided to the Daily Mirror, that he will leave United if they do not win the Europa League this season because playing in the tournament again next season with the likes of Tractor Borisov and Arsenal would be a humiliation too far.

no Mata for the Chelsea match, I guess the Fro is gonna be in there :excited:
:censored:

Mata probably done for the season.   I would think Herrera returns to the lineup.  And then its either Fro or Lingard with Pogba.  Doubt Carrick plays after his run Thursday.

I don't understand how Fellaini can produce bad game after bad game and still plays but Martial doesn't get a run of games whether he is good or bad.  Fellaini was a big part of conceding the goal yesterday.

Red Bull Germany has officially qualified for next years Champions League.

In 2009 they started out in the vast back waters of the 5th division in the German hierarchy.

So, I'm pretty new to the whole watching soccer thing.  Played a bit in high school, I was never very good.  Totally fired up that MN United got a point tonight.  Watch most games, and was wary when they moved from NASL to MSL. Still love watching the games, and even though I rec only half of the names, they seem to be putting the team together well.

I think I'm just easily entertained?

if you like goals (in either direction) Minnesota is your team this year :)

They got off to a historically bad start defensively but you have to admire the fact that they are finding ways to scrape some points (cough Philly cough).
