Hell Luis doesn't really belong in that category (yet) even with a really good season last year.

My takeaway is more how crazy wages have become over time.

Transfer fees more than wages.  If anything, I would say wages are on the low scale - given the amount of money pouring into the game world-wide.

Can any of our Serie A experts talk to me about Andrea Belotti? Looks like a young Luis Suarez but interested in others opinions...

There are increasing rumors that Atlético have made a deal with Costa for his return to the club. He'd train with the first team, but not play until January. No loan to Brazil or China or anything.  It seems that Conte doesn't see Costa in his plans, so Costa wants out of London.

Atleri still need to work out transfer fee terms with Chelski though.  I'm sure that'll be contingent on them signing another striker.

As I had said before, only someone of Costa's caliber would move the needle in terms of being able to compete more closely with Real and Barça.  I think Griezmann plays better when paired with a quality target forward so he can make better runs.  Costa can occupy at least one if not both CBs at certain times.

Arsenal talk!

Lacazette--Arsene's personal white whale--appears to be officially IN!  Rumor is that Mahrez is close behind with Monaco reluctant to sell Lemar.  Mbappe rumors just seem like silly season nonsense.  Left back has also been upgrades with the Schalke dude whose name I refuse to learn to spell.

The issue with Arsenal right now, of course, is if they can keep some players.   If they kept Sanchez and Bellerin, I think they'd have a really scary looking 3-5-2.  If they lose Sanchez, I think they need to find another top offensive player and it's imperative that they get top value.  The rumor of a straight Sanchez / Aguero swap is probably BS, but if they can get Bayern to pay top dollar, I'm not sure that Kun isn't the guy I'd then try to sign.  I'm of the opinion that if Barca wants to bid in the 35-40 million range for Bellerin, they can have him, but obviously Arsenal would need to find a ready replacement.

I assume Giroud is out, and going to Everton when the Lukaku domino falls seems sensible.  Ox is probably out.  He's rejected a contract offer and he'll fetch above his actual value as a player as a home grown.  Same would go for Theo, but I'm not really hearing many suitors for him.  He does score goals in spurts, so I'd keep him unless an good offer comes in.  He's horribly overpaid, but that's water under the bridge.

I like Holding a lot, but Arsenal could probably use another CB.  I've heard no names mooted, but someone like Ginter would be a good fit.

Any books offering odds that Chelsea draw Villa in the League Cup?
I was wondering what the odds were that Terry would insist on being the Captain.  You probably can't even get odds on that.

I'm a little disappointed MLS wasn't interested as I think Terry is the type of player who would improve the league by improving the footballing IQ of his team in the way VIlla and Schweiny have done.  I love to make fun of Terry, but you can't tell me you wouldn't want him mentoring Justin Glad or Tommy Redding (in everything but Tinder).

I'm not sure what offers he had, but I doubt MLS was in the picture for JT. He probably could have gone to China for more money.  Villa was the main rumored destination ever since it became known he would not renew at Chelsea.  Its known that he's been working on his coaching badges and I imagine Villa has made some form of proposal to him in that regard.

Stephen Quinn knockoff Harruh Reed loaned to Norwich.

JayRod sold to West Brom, Saints sign a 21-year-old CB from Poland's third place club. I don't think the Van Dijk narrative is over for this summer.

@B Maverick if you are going to the Man U - Galaxy game, I suggest you bring an abacus with you to keep track of the score.

Arena got out at just the right time it appears as LA looks awful so far this year at home.  Even a pathetic RSL whooped LA 6-2 last night in LA.

LA is the only team in MLS to have won only 1 game at home all year.  Every other team in league has won at least 4 at home outside of last place DC who have won 3 at home.

Rooney to return to Everton?

Not sure why Everton would want him but ok.  I think a good fee would be to take  :fro: with him.
Going on a free, but Everton will pay his massive salary.  This strikes me as an immense risk for poor Wazza.  If he sucks, I don't think the fans are going to be very pleased with the "hometown boy" who only played for the big money club during his prime.  But I think Wazza is probably an upgrade from "Ross Barkley's Potential".  And Giroud and Sandro are not a bad choice to replace Lukaku.  Keane is a great signing.  He's better than Stones ever was, IMO.

Lionel Messi's new wage is being reported as €570,000-a-week.

Which after-tax will be €570,000-a-week.

Footyhumor  ?

Last time United played v LA it was a 7-0 (or maybe 7-1) game and was under LVG.  Cant imagine its going to be much better for LA.

How far has he fallen that he is leaving for free?  Everton showed some potential to make it a top 7 in the EPL and their signings this summer have been stellar.  Not sure why you want to ruin that bringing in Roo at this point in his career.  His touch and pace are gone but he can give you a moment of brilliance.  If he can get to it...  Where does he play IF he gets on the field?

Far enough that no top league European team was going to pay 200,000 pounds a week and a transfer fee.  China would have.  MLS might have, but Rooney didn't want to disrupt his family and Man U is obviously not being greedy (getting that salary off the books is good enough).

I think Rooney will play as a 10.

45k last night at Bobby Dodd - they smartly delayed about 30 minutes to let a storm pass.  AU move up to fourth in the East with the win.  The ref was horrible last night - so bad I think any of you guys could have done better.

Ill be interesting to see how he works out there, esp in the 10.  His touch isnt good enough for it anymore, he cant run in behind anymore.... He can put a ball on a line cross field 40 yards, but has issues with 5 yard passes.  I wish him luck.  Not often you can be a club legend and get a chance to go back to your boyhood team.

The rest I agree, gets his damn bloated salary off the books (thanks Moyes).

Some one recorded a manager, from Wales, giving a half time "pep talk" in a league game, which at half time his team was down 2-0.  LOL

listen to the above link and then read spoiler below

team came back and drew 2-2 with a goal in the 94th minute

And Wondo scored a better goal than the Belgium miss. Thank the stars above for Miggy and Josef.

Love Garzas crossing ability...
Is Mears hurt? - my buddy and I have no clue why Waites is playing.  He said he watched a clip and they asked Waites what he considered his strength and he said crossing - he told me this and Waites proceeded to blast his next two crosses over everybody. :lmao:

It might put a damper on the Costa back to Atleti story, which seems to have legs.
I'm hearing that AM are trying to lowball because they know Diego won't go anywhere else.  They're offering something like 22M.  Getting Morata might end up costing 90M Which is insane, IMO, but who else is an option?

Aubemeyang seems set to go to China.  I know Lewandowski is pissed off at Bayern, but they don't seem to be selling, and they certainly won't sell cheap.  City would probably sell Kun if they could get a replacement in, but that's all the same problems.  Pep seems to have his heart set on Alexis and Arsenal won't sell to a rival.

and he pretty much hate-traded Mata.  Pretty sure TSO is a black wizard who could see into the future, and this was his plan the whole time.
But Mata is so cuddly and eager to please.  You know he probably picked up Jose's laundry for like his first 8 months in Manchester.  Lukaku seems to hold a grudge.

Belotti is the only other option.
