Sorry, seemed a decent pick at the time.

But I do love it when dominoes fall.
They're gonna add another 5 mill or so to the Virgil offer now and that'll be that. Hope Saints have done their scouting work and are ready to spend that windfall on a couple of decent unknowns (a big chunk has already been spent on Lemina).

I love Christian Eriksen but he's not better than Coutinho.

Coutinho makes more hero plays.  Including two or three golazos from outside the area a year.  But I'm all about consistent chance creation.  Barca don't need a guy to create off the dribble or single-handedly break a defense open.  They have a guy who's pretty good at that.  They need a guy who gets into good spaces and makes great decisions.  Just my opinion.

I think Eriksen is the best playmaker in the Premier League.  Last I checked he was on 75K/week.  That's absurd.  Theo Walcott makes twice that FFS.

Wimbledon is playing Brentford in something called the Carabao Cup.

I thought it was odd there was some pre-season tournament going on after they've already played a league match but it turns out that's what the League Cup is called for the next three years. Carabao is a Thai energy drink rather than a Thai betting site.

The League Cup actually had no sponsor last year. It was the Capital One Cup for 3 or 4 years before that, but everyone still called it the Carling Cup, which I suppose eventually pissed off Capital One enough that they dropped it.

I still remember the Milk Cup

I still remember the Milk Cup
wait a sec... was this a real thing? I played in the Milk Cup every year for the NOR CAL state team... IIRC, it was always against the SO CAL team. or maybe it was all the western states. I remember... stuff. this was back in my long, glorious hair days.

I'm gonna stick with what I can watch on NBCSN and NBC for now. I don't really care which matches I watch, I just want a couple available to me each weekend.

I am phrasing this question poorly, but if you don't buy that package, how many Chelsea matches do you think will be unavailable to you?

same. minus caring how many chelsea matches are availalbe.

I probably wasn't going to buy the NBC package because it's too damn early on the West Coast but I think ESPN streaming the Championship seals it.  It looks like they're going to show at least two games per week and have them available on WatchESPN.   Watching delayed Premier League games is tough because I almost always know the result beforehand but I'd really have to go out of my way to find out the score of Brentwood vs Bolton.

It seems they guarantee at least 3 games per team on the streaming package, meaning I would miss a minimum of 3 Chelsea league games by not subscribing. If that's all there was to it, I'd probably not do it.  The big question for me is whether having access to the streaming product gives me replay access to all games, as it did with the NBC app last year.  The concern is the comment in their email, "Full replays subject to per club limitations."  That's big for me, as I often watch games during the week while messing around in my basement, sometimes pretending to exercise a bit or fold socks or otherwise pretend I'm doing something productive.

A related issue for me is that the NBC app also carried the Premiership Rugby, which I watch every week.  I believe that's in a separate package now. As I stated a few weeks ago, the biggest issue for me isn't the $50, its figuring out how to get my content.  Rugby starts in a couple weeks.

Hmm, I had assumed that the stuff that originally airs on NBCSN or NBC will be available for replay on the regular NBC sports app free of charge.

I'm finding the silver lining on the NBC ####### us over thing. More likely to end up at a bar for breakfast. The Arsenal bar in town is a #### show though. Even for the 530 games. It is really only manageable during weekday games.

This is what I'm hoping for but NBC put the Tour de France replays behind the paywall even when the original broadcast was over the air on NBC.

I don't think any of you did this last year, but I'll post again. A girl a work with needed up making like $300 on the season for this EPL picked game. I won a week early and then quit when I ket forgetting to make picks. The deadline is later tis year though so I hope to be in it for the season pot. 2 other buddies won the monthly jersey contest. Anyway, it is a legit. Friend runs it.

Rules in spoilerz

EPL 2017 Season Rules and Scoring

My good friend Gabo says "you pay, you play".

How To Play:

1.  Predict the final score of each game in the play week (including the Newcastle game).  Home teams are always on the left and of course draws (ties) are allowed.

2.  Decide if you want to pick one of the games as your “Confidence Pick” or not to make a “Confidence Pick” (see below for full explanation of the risk -v- reward).

3.  For your Tie Breaker predict the total amount of goals you think will be scored in all the games in the play week (including the Newcastle game).  FYI : Your goals total does not have to total the number of goals in your score predictions.

It’s that simple!

Scoring:

You predict the exact score = 3 points for that pick (you predict 2-1 and the games ends 2-1 with your team winning)

You predict the correct result but not the exact score = 1 point for that pick (you predict 2-1 and the game ends with your team winning by any other score but 2-1)

You predict the wrong result altogether = 0 points for that pick (you predict 2-1 and the game ends in a draw or your team loses)

The same scoring system applies for any games you predict will end in a draw. If you predict 1-1 and the games ends 1-1 you’ll get 3 points.  Any other draw will get you 1 point.  A win for either team will get 0 points.

Confidence Picks (change from last season):

Confidence Picks can earn you double points but if you get it wrong, it will cost you.  If the game you choose ends in either your exact predicted score (3 points) or correct result (1 point) then your points for that game will be doubled.  However, if your game ends in a wrong result in any way, then you will be deducted -3 points for that game.

Tie Breaker Bonus Points:

As well as being your Tie Breaker in the event of a tie. If you predict the exact number of goals scored in a play week you will be awarded 3 bonus points. These bonus points will be counted towards your Weekly Total like any other points.  FYI: While most people add up the goals tally in their predictions, your “Tie Breaker Total Goals” does not have to equal the goals you predicted.

Deadline:

The deadline for all entries is 1 hour before the first kick off of the game week. This is typically Saturday morning but make sure you are aware because there are Friday games. We will try to notify you with as much notice as possible.

The email/Google form is also disabled at the designated deadline so be sure to get your picks in on time.

Automatic Picks (change from last season):

If you are pre-paid and do not submit picks before the deadline, you will receive the average score of the participating paid players (rounded up/down). Not a standard score of home team wins. In this scenario if there are 10 players and 7 are paid, 7 players will score, the 3 who did not enter but are paid, get the average score of the other 7 players.

Get your predictions in early/changing a prediction:

We encourage you to enter as early as possible but we understand there are situations where you want to make a change so and need to make an update. Use the google form/email to make a new entry. We will use the most current entry that is before the deadline. After the deadline NO CHANGES can be made once everyone’s Predictions have been posted (unless a system error is discovered).

Postponed, Canceled or Abandoned Games:

The game will only count in our pool the week it is played and officially recorded as a result by the EPL.  If it isn’t played or not officially recorded then everyone will receive zero points for that game (even if it was their Confidence Pick).  Total goals for the Tie Breaker will not be adjusted.

How To Win:

The players with the top points total at the end of the Play Week will be declared the weekly winners as outlined in this payout chart.  In the event of a tie for any position, the tie breaker will be total goals predicted for the entire play week.  Closest to the correct total will win (over or under).  If a tie still exists the under will be declared the weekly winner.  If both tie breakers are under (i.e.: the same) then the payout for those two positions will be split equally.

Prizes

Weekly: Every week awards will be top 3 players prizes based on the number of paid players - if the player count falls below 20 then first and second will pay out. Amounts are based on entries.

Monthly Prizes: As an added bonus this season, the player with the Highest Total Score over each Calendar Month will receive a Football Shirt of their choice – Any Team, Size, Name on the back, all completely customized to your requirements

Season Prizes: Season Accumulator : Over the entire season 20% of each weekly pot is added to the Season Accumulator.  A rolling total for each player will increase as they earn weekly points.  There is no tie breaker for the Season Accumulator so in the event of a tie for any position, the payout for the multiple positions will be split equally.

A minimum of six players will share the accumulated pot based on their accumulated season scores and also win prizes (T.B.D.) including the 1st place Grand Prize of a Year’s Supply of Carlsberg*

100% Payout :

The team manager takes no fees, percentages or tips.  100% of the entry fees collected are paid out as outlined above.

More big news for Nashville.

=====

Owners of the National Football League's Minnesota Vikings are joining the Nashville ownership group trying to bring a Major League Soccer expansion franchise to Music City.

Just found out I'll be going to see Manchester City v. Crystal Palace on Sept. 23. Do I need to know anything here other than Man City good, Crystal Palace not as good?

We fly out of Manchester early Sept 24, which foiled original plans to go to Sheffield derby which was moved from 23rd to 24th (were going with my brother in law who lives in Sheffield).

Levy:  Many pardons Mauricio.  We tried to get players in, we really did.  But their teams demanded exorbitant fees, and the players wanted outrageous wages.  Rest assured, lessons have been learned.
I assume you saw that the transfer rumored in ITK for a while broke down yesterday.

Makes you wonder if we were ever really involved, despite tracking the guy since January...and more rumors that the one deal that should get done - Barkley - will probably go south also...

The amount of damage Levy is willing to do to try and save a few bucks is amazing.  What has he gained by waiting so long and being a hard ###?  Now teams know he's desperate.  How is that an improved situation?

There's so much speculation it's impossible to know what's really going on behind the scenes.  I'm still amazed they haven't, at the very least, replaced Walker.

I'm not dialed into spurs daily lineups... but they already have trippier. or do you mean somebody to replace trippier's backup role?

Well Trippier is injured.  But beyond that, Poch like to rotate his fullbacks - so the plan was always to bring in another RB.  Only, in typical Spurs fashion, they wanted Walker out so badly that they did not bother with his replacement - despite flirting with a few options.

So now, there is no RB, other than Kyle Walker-Peters - who Poch says is not ready - or shifting Dier back to RB...

Spurs starting XI is as good as any in the league.  But, there is no depth at all right now and injuries piling up before the season starts - Rose, Trippier, Wanyama, Lamela, Son...

Trippier has a knock already.  There's a yute named Kyle Walker-Peters (ironic, huh?) that played when Trippier couldn't finish the game on Saturday.  He's highly rated, but young.  They would like someone to compete w/ Trippier and provide depth.  Someone that could play both LB and RB would be ideal.

At least you will not have to suffer through the crowds by going to a City game.  Make sure you wear lots of RED to the stadium.

Should be a fun experience though.  CP should give it a game, at least for a bit.  Zaha is fun to watch for Palace and City should win.
