Set up a demo for a product we were thinking about using.  Gotomeeting deal so I log and call in, the sales guys gets on the line... usual chit chat and he mentions hes back in London know getting back to work after the industry conference in SF.  He mentions London so of course I ask "Who you got in the derby this weekend?" After his surprise he said he's a Tottenham fan.  so we talked a little Spurs, United and Arsenal.

You should have asked him whether he thought the Dons could lift themselves out of the drop zone tomorrow vs. Bristol Rovers.

The best play I ever made on a baseball/softball diamond was a pick up on the dead run behind second base, coming from shortstop.  I ended up stretched so far to get the ball that I couldn't plant my leg to get a throw off, and jumped in the air off my off leg to make a weird off-balance throw instead.  That still got the runner in a fairly routine play.

Umpire at first calls him out.

Umpire behind home plate overrules him, saying the 1st baseman's foot lifted off as he caught the ball.

Our team goes berserk, because it was such a ticky tack call on an awesome play, and also because umpires are NEVER supposed to do this if the guy on the base doesn't ask for help.

Anyhow, it's stuck with me for 15 years that the out wasn't recorded.  I bet Ronaldo never forgets that one.

Tell him Sinn Fein from the internet says, :hey:

Wait, he's from London?  Maybe don't mention the Sinn Fein part... :oldunsure:

I don't see any way that happens. Sell or find another city seem to be the only options.
He can't find another city from what I understand.  He has 10 years left on his original contracted sale before he would be allowed to move.  He wrote in Austin in the original deal as the only Out before that time frame.

So it looks to me like it is either Austin or sell it.

That’s why I’m thinking that the vocal group on Council that’s skeptical has to be a minority. I see the PSV hired folks at city hall a lot. I’m sure they’re working it hard.

Atlético might already be out of 2 competitions before Costa even joins the team in January.  Pretty amenic start to the season, even if they've only lost 1 competitive match thus far.  My brother went to the Madrid derbi this weekend as he was on a business trip to Spain.  I gave him my Atleti gear to wear.  I hope he enjoyed the Metropolitano, and I'm jealous he got three before me.

Anyway, Griezmann seems to be a well off the plot now.  Seeing him subbed in the 75th for Torres is not a good sign.  He was the most dynamic element on the team and without that dynamism, the team is simply a competent but not dangerous team.  Sure, they´re a tough nut to crack, but without Griezmann or Costa, they won't be striking fera in anyone this year.  I fear that AG is simply going through the paces and will leave in January.  But that means this season is basically lost.  Meanwhile Gabi, Juanfran, Felipe Luis, and Godín will be a year further down the backside of the hill.

Sitting 2nd row almost directly in front of left corner flag in AMEX stadium for Brighton/Stoke match.

I'm hoping Crouch does the robot....

Great match. First Brighton goal was when they slid into the corner right in front of us.

Only saw it live but that had to be a missed PK call, right?

There's a chance all 5 English clubs in the Champions League will be through to the knockouts by this time Wednesday evening.

Man City and Spurs are already through and both could top their respective groups with wins.

Liverpool are through with a win at Sevilla, or with a draw if Spartak lose to Maribor.

United win their group with a draw or win at Basel. They are through if CSKA do not win.

Chelsea are through with a win at Quarabag, or a draw if Atletico do not win at home against Roma.

As we are sitting there, I'm telling my wife about him doing the robot. Then she's like "wait a second, he's not even starting?"

Yep, that's right.

Yes. Boys had their first training session today. First match against English youth tomorrow evening.
did they get the "now don't worry about losing to ipspongle hoverfield & wankton united tomorrow- they're very good" talk? which is typically followed up by a double digit drubbing by the muricans and a subsequent shaking of trees for better competition.

I really can't wait to read your writeup when the week's out. looking forward to hearing about training specifically and the games. your kid (and probably you) are going to remember this week forever.... so awesome.

I have to disagree with Eurosport's take on this.  Its honestly an awesome record just about any footballer would be proud of. He's late 30s and seemingly having a blast. I don't have to post pics of his wife.

Jesus this is awful.  Picture is at the link

======================

How low is Anthony Precourt willing to go in order to sabotage Crew SC, the club he owns and efforts to move to Austin, Tex., without so much as a phony attempt at a non-relocation resolution, and alienate the fans that have supported the franchise since MLS’s debut season in 1996? Tuesday night saw Precourt and Co. up the ante as they intentionally restricted entry (two gates for the entire stadium, causing thousands to miss the game’s opening minutes) into MAPFRE Stadium with the presumed intent of a half-empty venue when the television broadcast kicked off and panned left to right.
