So I've been thinking and I know with certain contracts ESPN can't do this in a perfect world but to some extent they can. With all the leagues they bought how come you got to go through another pay wall to get them? Granted for the price it is it's basically my monthly Spotify sub amount however ESPN could do more to promote Soccer AKA Futbool on their network. I've seen days at a time during downtime in the sports season during the afternoons of ESPN showing reruns of shows from that morning or the World Series of Poker. I don't get how World Series of Poker is so entertaining? I like poker but to sit and watch it might be as boring as watching Golf or NASCAR. Either way why not on these days when theres a match with one of their leagues they have rights too show the Soccer match instead? I know ESPN for a bit could show some Champions league matches but given the new contract probably can't. On International break why am I stuck with a TV station showing me WS of poker when they could easily put the Spain vs whoever or Germany vs Whoever qualifying match for Euro or WC or Friendly on? This goes for FS too because I've seen days with International games on they could air instead of re airing The Herd at 3PM why not put the match on?

Now granted I'm spitballing and voicing frustration but I've never gotten this especially when the choices are Air a match or re air a broadcast from that morning? Probably get more people to watch the match then a re airing of something especially with on demand and all people can probably watch that whenever they want especially on the ESPN app. If this has something to do with TV contracts I can see why this happens but it just never made any sense to me. My job currently thankful I have a TV at work to catch glimpses but with my old schedule it was always nice to work 7-2 or 3 and come home and turn on a match especially during Soccer season in the Fall with Europa League and Champions League playing T-F.

PSG MF Adrian Rabiot has turned down PSG multiple attempts to renew his contract. He's an expiring contract this summer 19 and all three of Barca, Juve and AC Milan are after him. Now Milan Tech Director Leonardo believes he has the pole position as Leonardo was at PSG and responsible for Rabiot's current deal and is on good terms with his family. AB wants to be a featured player wherever he ends up signing and a marquee marketing tool as well. With Financial Fair Play he'd be an ideal Leonardo signing as all he's giving up is a contract and no transfer fee. Inter Merda could push into the race as well but at this point are deemed very unlikely destination of the already 3 mentioned clubs

"Today's La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Leonardo is planning to use his rapport with Rabiot & his family to sign the French midfielder on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Despite PSG offering him a handsome raise of close to €5m annually (he currently earns €2m), Rabiot has rejected the offer and is looking for an opportunity to be the cornerstone of a major European club."

tl;dr.

something about tv? but not rossoneri?
Basically why is ESPN and FS not showing soccer games especially international matches on afternoons they are played when all they have is poker or some re airing of the show from this morning. Also with ESPN's new marketing tool of ESPN plus I'd be marketing the daylights of these rights. Showing matches over poker and some re run.

If basketball attracted better athletes, it would help the sport.

I have two tickets ground level for the Atlanta United OCSC game.  I am trying to find friends to go with me because my wife cannot go.  If I can't find anyone to go (which is what it is beginning to look like) anybody here close by that would like to go?  I just don't want to waste seat plus it isnt any fun not to have someone to partake $11 beers with.

I just heard a local sports radio announcer in Georgia beg fans to please start supporting the Atlanta Braves the same way they do our local soccer team, Atlanta United. I never thought I'd live to see this day
Good. #### the Braves for moving to the northern suburbs. They can rot there and the rest of baseball can die with them.

:scared:

I think MLS in Nashville may have just gone poof.  As I understand it, the private developart part of the stadium deal was important to the perspective Nashville owners.

Joey Garrison‏ @joeygarrison

Metro Council Budget and Finance Committee votes 6-5 to recommend disapproval of ground lease for private development component of the MLS stadium project.

The captains of every La Liga team will meet tomorrow and issue a joint statement condemning the idea of playing league games in the US and state that they will refuse to play in those games.

If Benfica don't advance (1-1 after a home first leg) Liverpool will be in Pot 2 of the champions league draw. #COYPAOK

Any takers?

I heard game day traffic is a nightmare at the new stadium. True?
Right by the stadium is rough; however, if you're not going to the game, and know the areas, you can get around it. The biggest issue is parking is very spread out around the stadium. @AAABatteries is right though, the gameday experience at The Battery is awesome.

OK, that's enough baseball talk for the soccer thread....

A record 95 amateur teams have entered qualifying for the 2019 US Open Cup.  The previous record, which was set just last year, was 64 teams.

News from goal.com.

Henry takes head coach job at Bordeaux.

Jozy given additional game suspension from his idiotic kick out red card.

Roando looks good because he is.
