Jozy is a perfect example.  I want Sargent to follow Jozy's path but not have the ceiling issues.  Jozy could not break through into a league above Holland or MLS.  If Sargent can in Germany, I think this puts him on an excellent path to be better than Jozy.
I've not seen enough of Sargent to know yet- got to see Jozy through youth, Metros and beyond so have a much better sense of him. but I think there could be a lot worse footsteps to follow than Jozy's... even if that ends up being Sargent's ceiling- it's a top rate ceiling for the US. but of course, as you say, if he can figure out a way of keeping his head together and doing all the little things that jozy sometimes doesn't...AND break through regularly in a top league- so far the kid has only lived up to expectations, hopefully he can keep on pushing those.

PAOK is also the club whose owner charged onto the field with a handgun a couple years ago.  I think the entire Greek league was suspended for a week or two.

lol. forgot about the hole in one.

I asked because a few years ago, when floppinho was still playing soccer, one of the dads was a german national and a nation champion blowhard.

we were talking about different players, and boateng's name came up. I said, sympathetically, how sad that such a great player will always be remembered for that play more than anything else. he was furious about this.."he won the world cup, he won euros, he's won everything that could be won- he'll be remembered for all of that and nobody will remember one play".

dunno why I thought of that conversation and boateng all these years later, but lolz- okeedoke, franz.

I believe Markovic was the first transfer I went through as a Liverpool fan.  I fondly remember the Serbian Messi comparisons. Gator had me pumped about Lazar.
Sorry man, had high hopes for this kid. Got to watch him quite a bit at Benfica(league and Europa)  and thought he'd be a really good buy. Oh well.

I think he lost his confidence early and never got it back.  Still pretty young and I always liked him.  Hopefully he will eventually turn into a solid player.

:goodposting:

Have we talked about this before?  This reads like I wrote it.  LD didnt deserve to be there.  Left the team during qualifying and expected to not only be on the roster but to start.  I could listen to arguments why he should have been there over Wondo, but will disagree and believe he wouldnt have done anything to help.
We haven't. This is my first year in this thread and glad I found out it because other then my one Union buddy I don't get much soccer talk. Yeah a lot of people will say JK was wrong but LD acted like he was incredible entitled. No one is above the team no matter how good they are. I can see the argument of him coming off the bench in the WC but I thought most of the guys picked in the positions he could replace had a good debate of being there. I thought LD was incredible babied by his clubs and coaches. He showed what a typical American athlete is today. Really good but incredible entitled and has to be coddled. Dempsey was more of the I don't need a safe space give me all the hate you want and doubt me I'll prove you wrong anyway. Like I said I hated how he took the whole Beckham ordeal like Beckham was leaving the team just because. MLS was not a place to be nor is still if you want to be on your national team. Ask Giovinco how MLS has effected his national career because god knows Italy could use another guy who can put the ball in the net right now.

hfs.  :lmao:

Some one get this guy a live stream on twitch.  I could watch this lunacy and anger all day :)

And the fact that he is well spoken and clear makes it so much better, it is not just some nit wit, this guy gave it some real thought.
Link is bringing me to the beginning of a 4+ hour video. What am I looking for?

hmm, the link should have brought you to the exact point of the video when you start the video.  It is only about a minute long.  Let me see if I can find the time.....

ok, if when starting the video, if it does not bring you there, go to time stamp 3:40:11

All that Nashville stuff seems very familiar to my experience over the last months, down to the random crazies and angry old white people in matching t-shirts being against it. And people complaining about it being a rushed deal, despite it being several months in the making. It’s like looking in a mirror.

Ive watched way more hours of Nashville city council live stream than I expected.

Yeah, that was actually interesting. Nashville must have had a referendum on public financing of a private enterprise.

Two records were set in MLS tonight:

Seattle became the first team in history to win 8 straight games.

RSL became the first team in history to score at least 6 goals in back to back games.

Does it really matter their coverage on everything non La Liga was awful
Of course it matters. I have Direct TV. I want to watch games without having to stream. I am also willing go to bars, but 98% of bars have Direct TV.

I just talked to one good beer/pizza bar that has cable and so I'm going to try to make that a Barça bar now.
