Is all of this part of the hacked emails from clubs? Saw a story on Football Italia that the Shari loan to Inter in 2015 was bound to happen that way since UEFA was looking into Inter on FFP. Their was a possible buy clause after option for 15M euro but the language no matter the 3 options they were bound to pay it. Thats when he flopped at Inter they were on the hook for 15M so its why they quickly sold him for 14.5M to if I'm not mistaken West Ham.

Both San Diego and Miami have crucial votes today for soccer stadiums.

From what little I have read, San Diego is going to struggle to get the votes and Miami looks good to get the votes (based on polling).

The NPSL pro league announced its first 11 teams, looking to add a 12th.  The season is expected to start next August.

New York Cosmos, Detroit City FC, Milwaukee, Chattanooga FC, Miami United FC, Miami FC, San Diego Albion, Cal United, Cal FC, FC Arizona and Oakland Roots. (Note: WTF Miami??)
As a long time Milwaukee Torrent season ticket holder (2 seasons), I’m looking forward to welcoming Pele, Beckenbauer and the Cosmos to town this summer.  :boxing:

I'm pretty sure the cosmos have kept the B side going.

The Miami vote passed.

MLS brass via twitter is celebrating like this is a done deal but there is still one more vote to go where 4 out of 5 city commissioners have to vote yes and two are against the deal.

And this is exactly why you don't celebrate until the shovel is in the ground.   Becks must feel cursed at how many problems they keep having.  Here is yet another hurdle they did not anticipate.

Sources: The LA Galaxy have "serious interest" in hiring Mexico director of national teams Dennis te Kloese as head of soccer operations. The sources also indicated it's highly unlikely that Bruce Arena will be hired in that role.

Loved the Ronaldo goal yesterday, hated the late ManU comeback. But they're making an annoying habit of that after Jose subs in some offense.

Saints begin housecleaning. Vice President Les Reed was just let go, Mark Hughes will be next.

Ronaldo's goal was fantastic.  Mata's was superb as well.

Not sure why people keep saying Jose subbed in some Offense: Rashford for Lingard (Upgrade), Mata for Herrera (Straight swap) and Fellaini for Sanchez (downgrade).  Its not like he took Smalling off and put in Lukaku...

Yeah, I should have been a little more specific there, though I think Mata is much more dangerous around goal than Herrera.

Mata is def quicker with the ball at his feet and has a knack for scoring.  He is more offensive minded but Herrera is as good a passer and better defensively but can get forward does shoot well and can unlock a def with his passing as Mata can.    So in that respect I can see Mata for Herrera more offensive minded.

But I keep hearing and reading about how Jose made subs to be more attacking.  I just disagree.  It just made them more direct.  And I guess I missed how Fellaini's intro changed the game.  Getting Lingard off and having Mata for a free kick seemed to do more for United then anything IMO.  But then again I'm not the coach for United or Juventus.... so what do I know.

I disagree about Mata vs Herrera. Mata, IMO, is a far better attacking player- not to say Herrera isn't decent.

:lmao:

at some point when floppinho still played soccer, I remember a similar moment and I picked the kid up and ran with him- swinging him so his feet would dribble. didn't go over nearly as well as I had hoped. also, my back.

Ok this story is interesting

AC Milan RB Conti and Sporting Director Paolo Maldini suspended at Primavera match for abuse of Match official

But wait in a twist according to Matteo Bonetti the ESPN Commentator for Serie A The ref abused Maldini's Son Daniel as well as Milan Defender Raoul Bellanova

According to Bonetti on Twitter

Unconfirmed but the latest indications about the reason why Andrea Conti and Paolo Maldini lost their mind after a Milan v Chievo youth game are alarming: the match referee apparently kept telling Maldini’s son throughout the game “you’re even worse than your brother”

The match referee then apparently asked Milan’s young fullback Bellanova “are you really this bad?” Makes sense now with these actions why two level headed people like Conti and Maldini would absolutely go bonkers
If this is true Maldini and Conti should have their sanctions dismissed and the ref should be banned from officiating again. Conti was suspended 3 matches ironically that doesn't include Serie A Matches so he could if ready play in the Juventus match on Sunday.

The FIGC have released an official statement where they announce the dismissal of Conti’s appeal where he will therefore be banned for 3 games, and the partial dismissal of Maldini’s appeal fining him €1,000. [Milannews.it]

Another twitter follower also had this to say

Apparently he insulted other Milan-players as well calling them fat and saying things like "can't wait 'til I can give you a booking".

This probably explains why we have not heard much from @The Gator lately:

[Football Leaks] All of Cristiano Ronaldo's household employees must sign a 70 year non-disclosure agreement, agreeing that "nothing about Cristiano's private life may be divulged until 70 years after the death of either the player or the last of his relatives."

Yes, Mata is a better attacking player, Herrera is a more complete player.  I am happy when either are in the team.  I don't know why Jose keeps leaving Mata out, esp for guys like Lingard, his movement and creativity and scoring is so much better then Lingards.  And Herrera may not be as good a passer as Mata but he can give you what you need when you need it with a pass and is better defensively.

Allegri says what we were all thinking: "'They didn’t have Felliani in the first leg and tonight they had him and he made an important contribution. This is an important lesson we need to learn from."
 So he's drank the fro-lade too.  Fellaini completed 2 passes in the 10+ mins he was in, missed the header (thankfully and as expected) that led to the own goal... and everyone is once again loving him?

Maybe Martinez is waking up, leaving Fellaini out of the next round of Nations League play.

There's gonna be a lot of red faces in here when  :fro: scores the game winner in the Champions League finals.
Hes cup tied and wouldnt be able to play for Barca in the finals.  And they wouldnt want him anyway

but if United do get there inexplicable and he does score the winner... ah hell, I'll still hate him being on United but be happy for the title and for him.

What a crazy weekend - Manchester derby, Superclassico in the Copa Libertadores final first leg, Dortmund-Bayern, Juve-Milan; plus, for a rugby fan, a full slate of great international ties including England-NZ, Wales-Aust, Ireland-Arg, Scotland-Fiji, USA-Samoa.

@CletiusMaximus any of that rugby on TV?
I usually get these kinds of games on NBC rugby package or espn+, but it seems hit or miss for this round of internationals. The game I really want to see - England v ABs - is only on an odd channel that costs $29 for a month - Florugby. I’ll look to the rugby streams reddit to hopefully find a good stream.

Smart man

Jose "Short bus Special One", in his infinite wisdom, believed the key to beating a team like City, who pass and move with quickness and intent, is starting Matic and Fellaini in the MF.  With Pogba hurt, lets make sure Herrera is the only creative player to feed the likes of Martial and Rashford. Lets not play Mata, Sanchez or anyone else that can play quickly and unlock a def.

Unfortunately, Herrera had a poor game.  Fellaini did not play bad but isn't going to give you anything special. Matic was a bystander on the 3rd goal.  Lingard gave away the ball for the second goal (despite the announcers wanting to blame De Gea and his distribution, IT HIT LINGARD IN THE FOOT). Shaw got beat for the first goal,.  Young had trouble with the pace of Sterling, luckily Sterling can't score on United.

Overall City deserved the win, United did not.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic voted MLS newcomer of year

1. Ibra (LA) 36 percent

2. Wayne Rooney (DC) 32

3. Carlos Vela (LAFC) 13

4. Darwin Quintero (MIN) 4.5

5. Kaku (RBNY) 3

6. Diego Rossi (LAFC) 3

Ibra edged Rooney on players’ ballots, Rooney won the clubs’ votes, Ibra won media voting easily

Lots of tweets about Villa today.  He wants one more year but reports are saying NYCFC is only offering him a front office position.

I wonder if he heads to India, China or Australia for one more season...

It's a dam shame the MLS Assist leader Borack Dockal couldn't even get one vote. I guess that says a lot about the Union more so then Dockal.

There's also reports that Riola is trying to terminate Ibra's MLS contract to sign with AC Milan. Ibra has always stated he never wanted to leave. His autobiography recently came out and he was told by Galliani that Milan would sell him. He's on holiday coming back from a water skiing trip to 6 missed calls from Leonardo (Who was at PSG at the time). Mine calls him and say you need to call him, In typical Zlatan fashion he tells Mino

"I'm not going and I won't call him. If they want me tell them they need to give me this X amount of money, this, this and that." It was some absorb amount of things he wanted hoping PSG would say screw this we don't want him and he stays at Milan.

Mino calls back and says hey they are giving you everything you want you still want to go? Zlatan (Zlatan is a man of his word so I will unfortunately go to PSG).

Ibra says he was heartbroken to leave Milan. Said out of all the clubs he was ever at AC Milan was his favorite.

In the book he also says that The EPL is overrated tactically. Basically said look what I did in my 30s here imagine what I would've done at 25 in the EPL. He didn't say overall the league was overrated just that the tactics and all on the field were.

So a guy I know from school is a ManU fan. Facebook from time to time brings up articles and other pages your friends have quoted on with their comments. Well as you guessed he isn't too pleased about the Derby results. He's coming out with the whole we got Trophies argument. I asked him when's the last time ManU was really relevant dude you are starting to sound like those Cowboy fans that live in Philly who's excuse for yrs is we got rings. I'm much enjoying this guys melt down right now.

Worse yet, some United fans are starting to sound like Liverpool fans have over the last 20 years.

Yes United has a grander history then City, yes United is a bigger club with more fans and recognition.  BUT as lIverpool has found, it doesn't matter if you aren't still winning.  City are the better club right now as far as on field play.  They are winning league titles.  United isn't close to winning although with the talent they should be.

If United doesn't start winning again, and if City gets a CL trophy or two, City will be the new United who is rapidly becoming the new Liverpool....

I don't know enough of the others to argue, but as far as Ibra vs Rooney goes, Ibra's personality, his debut and his goal scoring definitely makes him fit this catagory.  To me Rooney is MVP though, he turned around DC and got them into the playoffs.

Ibra did everything humanly possible to put the Gals in- they were just horrible, in spite of his goals. but rooney was pretty great too.
