Jose "Short bus Special One", in his infinite wisdom, believed the key to beating a team like City, who pass and move with quickness and intent, is starting Matic and Fellaini in the MF.  With Pogba hurt, lets make sure Herrera is the only creative player to feed the likes of Martial and Rashford. Lets not play Mata, Sanchez or anyone else that can play quickly and unlock a def.

Unfortunately, Herrera had a poor game.  Fellaini did not play bad but isn't going to give you anything special. Matic was a bystander on the 3rd goal.  Lingard gave away the ball for the second goal (despite the announcers wanting to blame De Gea and his distribution, IT HIT LINGARD IN THE FOOT). Shaw got beat for the first goal,.  Young had trouble with the pace of Sterling, luckily Sterling can't score on United.

Overall City deserved the win, United did not.
I thought fro was their best player on the day. rashford and martial seemed like they were finding space, but not getting the ball... lingard and herrera really killed their attacks. has matic seemed a step off this season? just feel like he's not doing what he's done for the last bunch of years- clogging space, playing quick balls to the right spots. if somebody could've found martial and rashford, I don't think you would've missed mata or alexi (or lukaku)... but nobody did.

I don't know enough of the others to argue, but as far as Ibra vs Rooney goes, Ibra's personality, his debut and his goal scoring definitely makes him fit this catagory.  To me Rooney is MVP though, he turned around DC and got them into the playoffs.
Ibra played a full season. Wazza didn’t. I also think that a lot of things happened at the same time as Wazza arriving. With the new stadium finally opening, Wayne had very few road games. And Cannouse came back from injury around the same time. Hamid coming back also helped.

time to update your avatar :)    They just announced the rebrand.
Honestly, it's not sitting too well with me.  I'm sure in a few years I won't think anything of it, but it seems like a missed opportunity.  In any event, exciting times!

I don't have feelings one way or another.  It is similar to uniforms with me, unless it is the ultra rare 1 out of 1000 that are horrible or 1 out of 1000 that look outstanding, to my eye the rest are all just lumped together.

I'm not losing sleep over it.  My avatar is a fan creation and I like it better than the rebrand, but whatever.  It's not going to get in the way of the hype.  Stoked.

The NFL gets CONCACAFED!

Monday night’s Chiefs-Rams game now is being moved from Mexico City to Los Angeles due to poor field conditions in Estadio Azteca, per sources. Back to LA for the Rams, who have been training for altitude in Colorado Springs.

Best? Sad state of affairs if he was.  I mean his bar is so low that if he doesn't give away a PK everyone talks about how great he played.

I agree with the rest.  But thats also my point, the only player remotely capable of playing that ball to find Martial/Rashford would have been Herrera.  And he had a poor day.

This probably explains why we have not heard much from @The Gator lately:

[Football Leaks] All of Cristiano Ronaldo's household employees must sign a 70 year non-disclosure agreement, agreeing that "nothing about Cristiano's private life may be divulged until 70 years after the death of either the player or the last of his relatives."
Busy six weeks. Haven't been home on the weekends for a while.

But yes, contract signed

this is hardly news but this article came out today

Cat’s Out of the Bag: There Will Not be a MLS Team Playing in Austin in 2019

In the story there is mention of Garber saying 2021 is the goal.
First, Miki Turner is a garbage writer whose main source of income seems to be teasing Crew fans on BigSoccer into paying for his Patreon.

The Forbes article referenced attributes that statement to Garber, but there's no source. I still think 2020 happens if they can make a deal with UT.

Elliot has okayed a Move for Ibra to Milan. Sources say it's now up to Zlatan who will make his decision by Mid Dec. Things looking more likely by the day the Zlatan Experience in MLS was a one year adventure.

In the book he also says that The EPL is overrated tactically. Basically said look what I did in my 30s here imagine what I would've done at 25 in the EPL. He didn't say overall the league was overrated just that the tactics and all on the field were.
I would definitely agree with that. I feel it is changing, with all the new continental managers coming in, who has a much better tactical schooling, but they are behind. I have heard interviews with many managers saying that the Italian game is far beyond other leagues when it comes to adapting in-game tactics.

Garber downplays MLS teams ever playing in the Copa Libertadores

======================

Teams from Mexico’s Liga MX have been invited to participate in the tournament, and there have been various reports the last couple of years that MLS teams could join the competition in the near future. But when asked Thursday whether he sees that as a possibility, Garber said, “I don’t see it happening.”

“We’ve got a lot of work to do to continue to evolve our own schedule, and it gets busier and busier and more and more crowded,” Garber said during SoccerEx in Miami. “And we have been really focused on trying to think of ways in which we could have some sort of meaningful competition with Liga MX, and we’ve got a long way to go to figure out how that schedule will work.

“But our league is growing, we have more teams and in time we’ll be able to have an opportunity to play in different competitions than just our league competition and our federation’s competition and our confederation’s competition, but thinking about that being outside of our confederation, I don’t see that happening any time soon.”

This seems crazy. Travel to South America? Let’s maybe try to be competitive in our own region before thinking about traveling 5,000 miles and back for a midweek game.

I've felt this way about the league forever but I've gone on social media and talked to people in my area big EPL fans (hard to find anyone thats not a fan and the non fans who are fans of other leagues are usually More Italian, Spanish, Chinese people) with the Irish community and big English immigrant community they act like you talked bad about your mother if you say one negative thing about EPL. If you talk to people in my area you'd think the EPL is the best league ever no league ever comes close. The Italian league is very good in adapting in game tactics if you watch it. It seems like watching EPL Matches there seems to be no major in match adaptions.

Memo to self: the next time school closes at noon for bad weather, don't assume you can get home in time for 3 o'clock kickoff.
My Girlfriend lives 5 mins away from where we work and it took her 35 to get to work around noon today. My Seafood manager came in early to do an order and left at noon to pick up his kids. Total ETA for him to go pick up three kids from 2 different schools take them home and come back to work normally would take 30 mins. He got his girls in 20 mins from leaving. Getting his son a bit longer. Then he got stuck behind two school buses and a uniform delivery truck. He had work at 1:30. He got back to work at 3:45.

So yeah never assume you'll get home in time. My one wine sale rep did get from one part of my area to my store in 20 mins and I was like well for that area to get to here in 20 isn't that bad.

How often to players wear both the Inter and Milan shirts? I think only 2 players have ever worn a Real Madrid and a Barça shirt. And both were Madrid 2nd. Barça would never. I'm sure Neymar will be the 3rd soon enough.

The Catalans still have a special love for Figo, no?

"I know a guy, who knows a gal..."...you seem to be pretty well connected in all things non-Inter-avatar related.  God bless you.

Ok. I was wrong on this. I knew I should have looked it up but wanted a chance to be wrong. Looks like it's 10 players and some have started at Real and then went to Barça. So I blame whoever told me that and also me for believing them outright.

Ok, McFly.
