Wow.  Messi didn't hold back this time.  His statement makes it sound as though he's being held prisoner by Bartomeu.  I can't imagine Barca is going to be a fun place to play this year with the world's best player being forced to stay at a place he wants out of.

Apparently the Messis didn't think the legal fight was worth the effort.

One silver lining in all of this is that Bartomeu will not be the president after March. Hopefully he leaves sooner.

Of course, should Messi still want to leave next year, he can do so for free without any hope of recourse.

You are missing the obvious:

Bartomeu: "Re-elect me - I kept Messi here!"

He isn't seeking re-election and is currently under investigation from local authorities.

ETA: But he is also a corrupt snake, so well taken

True.  A lot can happen in a year.  Maybe Koeman turns out to be a great coach and Barca wins a trophy or two.  With Barto out, Messi might just want to stay.  I doubt it though.  Honestly the smartest thing Barcelona could do would be to sell Messi right now.  I'm sure City would give $120M to get Messi without a legal fight and that could help Barcelona find a decent replacement(Sancho maybe?).

I will see if I can find a mirror.

The defender attempted a slide tackle to block the cross.  His attempt failed and he slid out of bounds.  While the play continued, he got up to one knee to watch the eventual goal and one of his knees look to be touching the endline.

I think your interpretation is correct but I swear in the past I have seen offensive players stay beyond the touchline so that they would not be called offside.  I know this is the opposite of that but it seems like the principle is the same.
As an attacking player I used to do it all the time, it basically falls under the "passive" part since you are not interfearing with the play.  Doesn't work for a defender.

That would not surprise me.

But, at the same time, I am not sure its a good move for Messi or City.

I don't see Messi as being the difference in winning the league or CL for City - maybe its worth it financially for both parties though?

Doesnt Barca already have several players that can play on the right if Messi did leave?  Griezemann, Fati?

I feel like all their purchases since Neymar left have had to move to the left to accommodate Messi.

(and leave my Sancho alone)

I got knocked into the goal/net on a cross once, immediately got up and exited the goal just as a teammate knocked the rebound in for a goal. My step across the goal line cost us the goal. Ref said if I had stayed in the goal, across the line, the goal would have counted.

A couple of things - I am mad at myself for not watching that game yesterday.  I just forgot.

I also was not expecting that from the brief description - I was expecting the defender to have been behind the line in the goal.

So, with that said - it definitely looks weird.  I assume VAR was involved.
The commentator at the very end said there was no VAR for this game.

I think Man City would like to use Messi, not only to improve their squad, but also their visibility in world football.  The rumored agreement between them would've seen Messi move to NYCFC after a few years to likely boost that clubs(and MLS's) value as well.  I think paying another ~$120M would be seen as a worthy investment in that case considering how much he could move the valuation of their assets.

I suppose they do and maybe that makes them look for a true left winger instead, but I think if they lose Messi they're gonna look for the next "big thing" in football.  Unless they can somehow convince PSG to sell them Mbappe, that likely would be Sancho IMO.

Also, you guys(ManU) shouldn't have ##### footed around with this signing.  Sancho should've been wearing red for the last two weeks already.  If you lose him now to another team it's your own fault.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea come calling either given the money they're throwing around right now.

That would be such a cool FU to Pulisic...

Dembele, Fati, and Trincao are the current wingers in the squad. At least the first two can play on both wings. Messi also doesn't play on the right anymore really. It is really players like Greizmann and Coutinho that are hard to imagine with Messi, as they like to cut into more central spaces. The biggest gap in attack is the #9 spot.

ETA: Certainly Coutinho has been successful on the wing in other stops, so maybe he will play there under the new coaching.

After Covid hit, Pulisic was a better player than Sancho, who faded pretty hard for his talent level this spring and summer.  He was battling some injuries but even after he recovered he did not match his previous level.

Even if it did happen, Chelsea could sell Pulisic for a ridiculous amount to a "big" team*

*see the US thread if you don't get the joke here :)

I don't know if it is the financial environment but I am confused on why the Sancho mega deal is not being completed some where.  At his best he is significantly better than Dembele who was sold for about the same amount Sancho is being rumored to sell for.

I think it's a combination of that and the fact that Pulisic went for "only" €72M last year.  Pulisic, if sold after his explosion this summer would be €100M+, so I think the teams that ARE looking to add this summer are hoping to get a deal and Dortmund just aren't willing to go for it right now.

Messi plays where he wants when he wants.  No def, just waiting around mf for the ball. lol

Dortmund don't have to sell, United don't want to feel like they overpay for players anymore

So United uses the no fans, financial climate, glazers are cheap, woodward is horrible excuses to not want to pay up.

Yep, no VAR at this state.

Of course, the whole issue is moot if you don't remove midfielders and forwards and replace them with defenders to protect a 1-0 lead.  Germany started the match with 3 on the back line and ended with 5.  Also, the goal was scored in the 6th minute of 4 minutes of added time.  :wall:

Good God that is putrid.  That can't be real, right?
Its a third shirt.  But the shirt has been leaked previously - so that is probably real.

This is the first I have seen the shorts.  But, FootyHeadlines usually is accurate with the linked kits.

So, all we can do is hope and pray to the Footy Gods that this is real, and that Manchester United do not back out...

Milan have announced that they took Real Madrid's Brahim Diaz on a dry loan. However Miland and Madrid will continue talks for an option to buy as the season goes along. Tonali should be announce Mon or Tues and it's been reported that Cellino the President of Brescia said they turned away a 65M Euro big for Tonali from Barcelona to give Tonali his dream come true club Milan.

Chelsea have agreed to loan Bakayoko to Milan. This is Tiemu's 2nd loan to Milan with a high chance Milan will buy him after the loan. Paolo Maldini working magic behind the scenes. Got a good learning studying Uncle Fester AKA Adriano Galliani for all these years

Milan will play Monza in a friendly tomorrow that can be followed on the official club app. Monza is owned by Silvio Berlusconi the former Milan owner. Italian papers report Silvio along with Children Luca and Barbra all tested positive for Covid 19. Barbara it's been reported had mild symptoms. Silvio has been checked on medically each week since the pandemic started in Italy..

Monza is coach by former Milan player Cristian Brocchi is their skipper with former Milan player Gabriel Palleta in the Defense. Monza is playing in Serie B this year

Armas canned from RBs.

I love how they're not putting any money into the team or getting any players and apparently blaming the coach for that. I'm not even a fan of his coaching, but they don't have a single forward who can score.
