Andy Pollo (Timbers player) committed domestic violence against his partner.  A lawyer representing the Timbers went to visit the women where supposedly he offered her money to keep her and her child safe in exchange for her not pressing any charges.

The lawyer representing the women released a tape showing this alleged conversation.
This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

Doing it is really bad.  Doing it without a deniable middleman is really bad and also stupid.

Yeah -- anyone involved will probably have to go.  Maybe the GM/CEO/President instead of the owner though?

Here is the tape.  I don't think it includes enough to show pure hush money.  The basis of an offer seems there but the tape seems to cut off (which is a bad sign for the woman's lawyer I think) before we hear anything juicy.

Excl: Salah and his agent have no intention to accept current new contract bid from Liverpool. Talks have broken down since December, as things stand 🚨🇪🇬 #LFC

Mo’s priority is to stay - but not at current conditions. Let’s see Liverpool next move.
I have a feeling that if Liverpool were going to offer Salah what he wants it would have already happened.  He's at LFC thru next season, his 30 year old season, but I bet he plays somewhere else after that.

Women or Woman?

I mean, more power to Pollo if this is a thruple or whatever.  Just trying to clarify.

This kills me as I lived through both NE and NY (Metrobulls) absolutely bottling their early years from which they never really recovered the fan base that came out early to watch.
we're in much different times... normal people actually want to watch soccer now. in those days, it was just the soccer nerds.. and once the soccer nerds saw what was being sold to them (in giant empty stadiums yet), they bailed pdq.

hopefully the Charlotte fans are in it for the atmosphere as much as the product.

This is crazy (18 vs 17).

Newcastle have picked up more Premier League points than Chelsea in the last 10 games 👀 https://t.co/5ASfSE9qq7

Even crazier is that Everton is 1 point away from relegation, sitting at 17th.

If you look at The most informed table of the EPL Newcastle is in the top 5 standings since January. Most non Newcastle people would say it's the transfers but Trippier has been hurt most of the time and Guamaries has been coming off the bench. It's just more of a credit to Eddie Howe who I love more and more every day. Amazing what a competent manager can do for your club.

True.  And you usually have to work pretty hard to get permabanned.  So I don't want to defend him if he was way over the line or something (no idea what he said).

OTOH the mods are all over the place.  Reading a joke between friends as a serious comment without context, reading serious comments as something else, etc.  And zero value ####posting that's civil on the surface is given a super wide latitude too, which provokes a lot of people.

tl;dr - it's pretty random.

I've gotten banned for some pretty innocent stuff in the sharkpool and over here. there's also a ton of people here who love to troll others and given great latitude even after it's been reported to the mods on several occasions and other posters expressing concerns to the mod about it. I've been a victim of this and getting banned for basically retaliating. March 2O2O I got a month ban for defending myself against someone who went way over the line on me. Theres zero consistency in bans or suspensions here. I've literally been called a racist without proof by at least 1 poster who's constantly brought it up to mods in threads with zero proof. The mods simple just post "we'll keep an eye on it." no knock it off unless you have valid proof or whatever. Sometimes I think the suspensions and such are a little biased on here. But either way I'll stop there before somehow this post gets me banned for complaining about banning consistency.

Have to be careful with taped conversations. In Some states like PA you can't record a conversation without letting the other person know it's happening. Unless it's a non legal thing and using it for notes as I knew someone who recored classes to hear back in college for note taking in case they missed stuff and all.

Maybe. Prices are high, which hurts the atmosphere, as they close off the upper deck for the vast majority of games. They are fortunate that most of the summer home games are in the evenings.

Of course, actually scoring a goal would help it all.

Was looking at Ticket prices for soccer in some European leagues and Holy#### are they cheap. Reminds me of when the Union first started. Even the International matches are much cheaper. Owner at the CAFE used one of his buddies in Roma' club Philly CC for tickets as you can only purchase Italy Match if you are an Italian citizen which my friend has a passport for and he bought him and himself tickets. Couldn't believe how little they paid for them.

Chelsea asking that the FA Cup game be played behind closed doors because they can't have their away fans at Middleboro is embarrassingly tone deaf.   Why in gods name should Middlesboro be punished just because you can't have away fans?

Middlesbrough has called Chelsea out over it too, calling it "bizarre" and "ironic in the extreme".

We can't have our 2,000 fans there so you shouldn't have your 33,000!

I think there's a bit more to it than this. Chelsea reportedly asked to be allowed to buy the tickets and give them away for free, which was refused. I think these requests are intended to put some pressure on the UK gov't to #### or get off the pot as to what exactly is the status on tickets and other day-to-day operational questions. There are two games at Stamford Bridge in April and its unclear how the ticket situation will work, as well as security, concessions, etc.  It seems likely the UK powers that be are setting a precedent here - that Chelsea away fans can't buy tickets for a game at Boro - that might create difficulty for future games. It won't look good if away fans can't attend games at Stamford Bridge in April, but that is the precedent that is being created here.

Here's the FA's updated statement:

Borussia Dortmund

@BlackYellow

Borussia Dortmund and St Louis City have agreed to a deal for the summer transfer of Roman Bürki. We thank Roman for his time in Dortmund and wish him all the best in his future!

Interesting pickup.  He's been a pretty good keeper for club and country.  Interesting place to put DP money for a new team as well.  (Assuming he's a DP.)

Some have guessed TAM.  There have been precious few DP keepers in MLS history.
Interesting.  Also, I was wrong he has not played for the Swiss National team since 2018.  I guess he was supplanted by Sommer a while ago.  He's only 31, definitely not too old for a keeper.

This were we do MLS talk, too? Started getting into it, beyond just casual, during COVID and dove in even deeper this year with Philadelphia Union season tickets.

Haven't been many 4-year head to head runs like this in top flight history.

The 98-97 season in 2019, Liverpool wins in a walk while City have injuries, City wins in a walk while Liverpool have injuries, and now potentially another epic run in.

Win or lose this year, watching these two go at it has been a fun 4-year stretch.

cool!  That is a nice looking stadium down there.   We have a bunch of Union fans here in the thread if memory serves.

You have a good young pup in Aaronson to watch develop too.  It would be pretty incredible if two brothers can make it all the way to the National team.

Old Firm highlights, 1991.

Four red cards on the day, but by far the best part of the clip is right around 1:02-1:10.  Ref plays through three red-cardable offenses in about five seconds (horror tackle, two attempted kicks in retaliation) before ringing up the payback shot that finally connects (punch or elbow).

so a guy gets a red for a second yellow on charging a free kick too early. he's gotta be kicking himself for not kicking everybody else in all of that.

that sequence at 1:02    1991 was during my prime days... and that kinda #### happened a lot (maybe not the elbow), mostly brought on by tackling from behind going entirely unpunished. even me- I was the pristine ball-handler, but if somebody crossed one of my imaginary lines- I'd do all of that stuff... off the ball knee to the hamstring, elbow to the solar plexus, whatever. I'd Christo it up.

wish they'd showed what prompted the last two reds.

Union @ NYCFC this week, grudge match. No surprise this has turned into yet another Philly/NY rivalry. Bad taste in our mouths after the 2021 COVID match conference finals that might have cost us a legit shot at the championship. Hope we get out of their fugazi soccer stadium with 3 points!

Hey, how dare you!

It's not a soccer stadium.

Signed,

NY soccer fans.
