Talking with my 13 year old about her soccer skills. I said imagine if there were two of you, one playing striker and one in the 10 spot so you could pass to yourself?

Her "That would be dope"

Me: :lmao:

Juve. Ouch.

wow! 15 point penalty is huge. That all but assures no Champions League next season and will make qualifying for Europa League really hard.
Wow. They're 12 points out with half their games remaining. That's a huge hit. I think they're good enough to still qualify, but they'd have to play the second half like Napoli did the first half of the season to do it.

I'm guessing we'll see an appeal?

and this time we could learn whether Fox got the TV rights for the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups through bribes.
:narrator:

No surprise I guess since Fox was found to have bribed CONMEBAL for the Copa over a decade ago and bribed FIFA for the 2010 South Africa rights, but yeah - it seems they did it again.

And away we go

I imagine Lampard is out after today.

I think he's not a great coach but honestly, Everton are just dreadful and have been horribly mismanaged. Just a scattershot of premier league castoffs and their transfer policy has completely lacked any thought, wildly overpaying for average players without filling obvious holes. It's like Chelsea on a budget. I think they are headed to the Championship with or without Frank.

Messi to Miami might be getting closer

"Leo Messi has no intention of renewing his contract with PSG," per Gerard below.
Of course, all the Barcelona sites spin this a bit differently. I really have never felt like it was likely for him to stay at PSG.

Fabrizio is also countering, saying to ignore the rumors, and he will be resigning with PSG...I guess it is all up in the air.

Date has changed, let's try this again!...

I'm travelling to London for work in January and would like to go early and take in a game while I'm there, I would be there the weekend of 1/14. I was there once 20+ years ago and have no idea what teams / stadiums to check aside from Tottenham's new-ish stadium. But I do have my eye on Tottenham hosting Arsenal on Sunday 1/15.

TIA!
Tickets purchased to Arsenal @ Tottenham! Flying in on Saturday crashing at the London Marriott Hotel Kensington then heading up to the game from there on Sunday!
Any advice on things not to miss at the game or in the area in London while I'm there Sat/Sun?
(Heading out to Dartford after the game for meetings through Weds)

:pickle:⚽
HFS, that was awesome. I've been to a ton of NFL games but this was definitely different. The passion from the fans and continual chanting / singing / etc was great. The fact that the Arsenal supporters were mostly grouped into their own section instead of being dispersed throughout the stadium was really cool.

The funniest thing to me just because how different it was, was the approach to alcohol in the stadium. No alcohol allowed in the seats so everyone packed into the concourse until they announced that the game was about to start. Then no cutoff for beer sales. After the game was over, we hung out another hour for a couple pints. I asked security and they said they usually cut it off about 90 minutes after the game ends.

Just a really cool experience I'd highly recommend if you're even considering it. Already thinking about scheduling a family trip to spend more time touring around London and to go to another game or two.

Approaching the stadium
We need more songs / chants in the NFL
More pregame fun
External stadium
No beers allowed in seats? We'll wait for kickoff...
Pregame vibe
Arsenal section (surrounded by security) having more fun after going up 2-0.
No beer sale cutoff. Full time? Let's head back to the stadium bars...

In an unbelievably shocking development, Lampard's been sacked
Even more shocking is that most people who follow Everton are pretty sure there’s no real plan to replace him yet.

Fat Sam is always available.
He apparently has been contacted! I'm not sure what strategy is at play when the two managers contacted are Bielsa and Big Sam. Doesn't suggest a very coherent plan.

What is great about the EPL is I could see either of them coming in and getting Everton out of it or completely tanking and they end up 20th. I'm somewhat of a fan of Bielsa and the style is fantastic to watch but if the goal is to stay up (and it is) then I'd take Sam and let him grind out some results.

Bielsa has reportedly told them they'd need to completely revamp the team with an increase in athleticism for his style to work. Don't see how that's possible in a week even if the guys Everton bring in aren't poached by Tottenham.

So... they just moved LFC v United from Saturday at 11:30am to Sunday at 4:30pm. We're punting and trying to reroute to London since airfare isn't refundable, but my Anfield dreams have been put on hold again.

I'm honestly surprised it took them this long to move it with United playing today. Sorry to hear though - that sucks.

ETA - nevermind, I brain farted this

Game is in March, they don't usually announce TV until round about now, but you could probably have made an educated guess it would be Sunday with the Cup being played the Wednesday before

Edit - the PL website indicates when moves for TV will be announced and it does say today, so it's bang on time

Anthony Gordon to Newcastle all but done. I’m among the 50% of supporters who don’t hate it, but even if I did I’d also recognize that the new regime has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt so far. Young, fast, tireless, will press all day, plays directly at defenders and is a complete prick a-hole. He’ll fit in immediately.

I heard this morning that Bielsa told them he wanted to bring in 8 backroom staff with him and coach the U21s until he takes over the senior team in the summer. Which makes even less sense since they need a coach now to keep them in the EPL.....

That seems like a crazy fee for that player - he’s not bad and I guess Newcastle have money to burn. He does provide some depth which is what they need to see if they can win a trophy and/or finish top-4.

There’s definitely a Newcastle/English/Youth tax going on there. Ashworth knows him from England U21 days and must see something in him. Hopefully Howe can unlock him. I liked what I saw from Gordon last season when I had him on my FFA fantasy team for a while. Everton is such a dumpster fire this season I’m not sure anyone could thrive there.

They’ve been right so far with Bruno, Botman, Pope, Trippier, and Isak (still early but looks the part). The only real miss was Wood but they managed to offload him and get a chunk of cash back and he helped in the relegation scrap/screwed Burnley so even then, it worked.

And if he learns the system, he could be more than depth. He’d play out wide on the left. Right now Joelinton is there (ahead of Saint-Maximin) but ideally we’d move him back to midfield. ASM doesn’t seem to have the press/defending Howe requires to start regularly.

Andy Carroll with a horrible challenge on Eriksen who was subbed shortly after and then left him in a walking boot and using crutches. Giant donkey had 3 horrible challenges and got himself sent off.

the post Swag era begins at Juve... and they lose at home to a team called Monza. sounds like more of a Happy Days villain than a soccer team.

As some know, the new Apple TV deal removes all local broadcasts from MLS. Every game is now done through Apple TV. This obviously puts a lot of jobs at risk but Apple TV smartly has hired many of the local talents for their own broadcasts.

How did Marcus Rashford go from a very good player to world class seemingly overnight?
Remove Ronaldo and he's back to being good. Some joking aside, they have structure, accountability, patterns of play, tactics, etc. I think he is also mostly pain free and happy again.

I didn't get it at first because I did not look close enough and now its hilarious :)

I still don't get it.. and I hit that thing with a microscope.
they have some of the best players in the world in the top picture, adding up to 6 golden balls.

Harry McGuire in the bottom picture has 7 (well, with a little help from the gentleman mostly hidden just behind him)
