Went to Inter/CARP in Seattle last night. This was my first game involving a non-MLS club and it was just another level. The fans, the level of play, everything. I dont think I could sit through a live American sport again with all the commercials. Just doesn't compare.

Been a while since I saw a sport live other than soccer... But they stop games and run commercials at the stadium now?

Given the Premier League never schedules a game between two big clubs on the opening weekend, feeding Man Utd to Arsenal is one way of saying you're ****
United ranked as the hardest opening fixture list.

Arsenal
at Fulham
Burnley
at City
Chelsea

Liverpool (A) hits week 7 (10/18)
Wow. Three of last season's top 4 to start the campaign. The EPL certainly isn't doing ManU any favors. Fans might check out by September....
Brentford and Sunderland between the Chelsea and Liverpool matches.... United could be out of any race except relegation by mid October.

Still would love to leave LA on Christmas and come back on New Year's Eve and try and catch Newcastle (12/27) and Wolves (12/30) at Old Trafford.
As a ManU fan for you, that would be a wonderful trip. Two tough oppenents, but games you should win. That'd be a blast.

end of an era ...

Wrexham AFC can confirm striker Paul Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season, pending clearance.
He was so instrumental in getting them up to league 1. Club legend.

Watching the last few episodes of Welcome to Wrexham they focused on him and Palmer's lack of playing time, lack of goals and how to handle moving on from the two. Mullin has had injury issues and neither were scoring. At 30, probably not a bad thing for him to stay in league one with Wigan.
Started planning a 2026 trip over the weekend. Part of the already-booked trip involves one day in Wrexham en route to Holyhead so we can take a ferry to Dublin. I'll hoist a few at the Turf for everyone. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be a midweek game or something, but in any event I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Looks like the Championship fixture list is out!! And of course, the universe is telling me to try and go.

Leave LA on Christmas and come back on New Year's Eve and try and catch
United v Newcastle (12/27)
Wrexham v Preston /12/29)
United v Wolves (12/30)

Wrexham is also home to Sheffield United on 12/26....
I agree wiht the universe. Do eeeeet!

I'll be in London over Easter (04/05 and 04/06) and then Wrexham on 04/08. Wrexham play Monday but I get there on Tuesday. I don't want to rearrange anything to go. Was an afterthought, anyway.

However, there's a few Easter Monday Championship fixtures in London on Easter Monday I can give a go.

Would step down a level. Only London team at home in the Championship is Millwall, while these days their reputation is greatly exaggerated, and you'd be absolutely fine, Orient or Wimbledon would probably be better experiences.

Milwall has Norwich. I can cheer on Sarge if I can get an away ticket. Watford looks pretty close, they have Charlton Athletic that day. That just sounds awful.

I'll look at Leyton Orient and Wimbledon, too. I'm pretty open.

Yeah Watford are close, I just wouldn't class them as London. Norwich travel well, I doubt you get in their end

Commercial breaks I mean. It's so refreshing to not have constant timeouts.

I'd be happy to get into Milwall's end and root against Norwich as a sort-of Ipswich Town supporter, too. Like I said, I'm open, and if there's a match outside of London (but close) I'd consider that, too. Will also be happy to hit a pub.

Can't bring out the cheerleaders to dance unless it is sponsored.

sub-optimal Bundesliga schedule.
First these ****ers give the rounds, but not the dates and times. Booo.
Next, all the B2 matches are in the north the first weekend I am there, and the good matches are the second weekend.
Meanwhile the best Bundesliga matches are all the second weekend. Pretty sure I'll be doing a Friday night B2 special followed by Dortmund/RBL. First weekend may have to slum it and take in a Bayern/Werder Bremen match at one of the 45 Allianz arena's worldwide.

Nürnberg/Hertha on the first weekend could be worse?

CWC final 8 is set - 5 from UEFA (2 German, 1 each from France, Spain and England), 2 from CONMEBAL (both Brazil), 1 from AFC (Saudi). The bracket is a bit disappointing with 4 of the UEFA clubs on one side, but otherwise this has been an excellent tournament and I’m looking forward to the weekend.

BWB hung on vs Monterrey. Despite looking like they were going to blow things down in the 1st half, Monterrey pulled themselves together and looked the better, more likely side in the 2nd half. They missed some prime opportunities to level or go ahead.

Gio, like Weah for Juve, is a complete non-entity. They both really need to move elsewhere. I wonder what the story was with Weah not going to Forest

I believe Gio has been on the bench all four games but not yet played a single minute in the tournament. I wonder if he'd be getting minutes in the GC if that had been an option for him.

I mentioned in the US thread.. he played a handful of minutes at the end of the meaningless 3rd group game. A "here you go, US fans" appearance.

Real Madrid-Dortmund quarterfinal tickets at Met Life going for $128 for the cheap seats. That's way less than Real Madrid's group game in Philly.
That makes sense. I think the whole point was to try and get folks that would plan around a trip to see their team. That is easier to do for the group than the knockouts. They just really underestimated how much demand there was for anyone else.

Did you guys see this?

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6455982/2025/06/27/premier-league-tv-sub-interviews/

"Premier League broadcasts will feature interviews with substituted players, as well as more on-pitch and dressing room camera access from next season.
In order to keep pace with their US counterparts, British broadcasters sought increased access from the Premier League, with three new innovations to come in for the 2025-26 season and beyond.
As well as interviewing substituted players, in a bid to allow viewers to gain a real-time offering of the player’s views and analysis of the game, broadcasters are also set to be granted limited access to dressing rooms and be allowed to enter the pitch in order to capture close-up footage of goal celebrations."

The post game interviews are bad enough, esp after a brutal or controversial loss, now you want to talk to the guy that was just pulled off the field?
(best comment to this I saw was "WHAT IN THE MLS IS THIS CRAP")

I saw this a couple of days ago. My first thought was "well this is a terrible idea, you are going to get an angry player to say something stupid or controversial more than a few times", but then I realized that is, sadly, what the broadcasters are hoping for.

Probably the FA/EPL too :moneybag:

Probably going to get a lot of this: If I speak I'm in big trouble

Just an absolutely awful morning. Just a few days after he married the love of his life. Forever our number 20.... YNWA.

Oddly, I am attending the memorial of my friend Brian today who was a massive Liverpool supporter. Of course he loved Diogo.

Elanga to Newcastle pending a medical. Newcastle are gonna be pacy With Hall/Gordon on one side and Tino/Elanga on the other.
I like Elanga. Sadly he got lost at under ETH with Garnacho, Rashford, Antony then Diallo. Some due to price and potential. He will be a good rotational player for Newcastle.

55m is quite the fee for him too.

We now have three Swedes: Isak, Krafth, Elanga - just need to track down a Swede whose last name starts with A to complete the set.

As an aside, just saw a pic of him celbrating a goal somewhere. That dude is jacked.

That is the truest and most damning indictment of my adult life that I have ever experienced. Congratulations.

Its hard to imagine how this could have turned out any better for the organizers of the CWC. Real Madrid playing the current champions league holders, Mbappe's first game against PSG in a semi-final, with the winner taking on the current UEFA Conference League champions. What a final this will be!

Ivan Rakitic: “I was speaking to Messi and I said: ‘you’ve won it all, you’ve scored all these goals, but I have won a trophy you’ll never have…you’ll never win the Europa League.’”

Where's the excitement?
2025-2026 Champions League kicked of yesterday and today with 14 matches.
They have to start somewhere, right?
Europa League and Europa Conference League start tomorrow. (except for two ECL matches played yesterday)
