Week 10 byes aren't niceI thought Eli would be a great value and so far he has been. $16 for a guy that doesn't miss games and will approach 3500/25, not to mention a nice week 10 bye.
That's an understatement. 27% of the 2300 surviving teams get cut that week. Even worse, only two teams have byes that week, which means scores are probably going to be high. Teams with important players out that week will be at a disadvantage more than any other bye week.Week 10 byes aren't niceI thought Eli would be a great value and so far he has been. $16 for a guy that doesn't miss games and will approach 3500/25, not to mention a nice week 10 bye.
Looks like I'm in at 161.5. Thank you FWP and Derrick Mason.
Absolutely saved me. My qb's are Brees, Hasselback, and Brady Quinn. I have 158.5 points. Hope that is enough.Laurent Robinson might be done, so that doesn't help, but hopefully Schillens will be back soon.Well I certainly didn't take him as my only QB. Slaton's my only big week 10 bye. The way he's been performing, I don't really care. That's an understatement. 27% of the 2300 surviving teams get cut that week. As a 2nd QB, I can agree with your original post. It sounded like he was your primary QB (maybe with Leftwich, Quinn, etc. as a #2), and that would definitely scare me.Well I certainly didn't take him as my only QB. Yeah, me too. I still think Henry has a couple 100 yard, two TD games in him - but he represents no value at $12 when I've got guys like Nate Burleson and Derrick Mason scoring a ton of points for me.I should be making it through this week, but I'm REALLY regretting my last-minute switch from Steve Smith (NYG) to Chris Henry.
Yeah, I went with Rodgers and Sanchez also. I just thought Eli was a great value play, much like Derrick Mason and others that have been mentioned. I figure with a cap, you may as well load up on the value plays you see.apalmer said:As a 2nd QB, I can agree with your original post. For that matter, it would be interesting to see how many took leftwich and just 1 other QB in general. Basically anyone in this situation (like me) will be taking a QB zero at some point. People have made it past a QB zero in the past, but it's not exactly the best place to be in this contest...I tried to use the Querier to see how many Leftwich/Hasslebeck and Leftwich/McNabb owners there were, but I get a page that says it's shut down for Sunday to conserve resources.
I had Brees (9.4), Quinn (1.6) and HAsselback (0), this week and have 155.20. Not sure if that will be enough, but I was surprised at the score given my horrible qb performance. And I didn't have a monster game from anybody, really. It can be done, but everybody has to pick up the slack. For that matter, it would be interesting to see how many took leftwich and just 1 other QB in general. I survived Week 7 (I think that's the one) last year when Romo was injured and Warner and Ryan were both on byes. It's not something I'd care to try again.I had Brees (9.4), Quinn (1.6) and HAsselback (0), this week and have 155.20. Same boat but with Romo and Warner only. Finished right on the cut line.I survived Week 7 (I think that's the one) last year when Romo was injured and Warner and Ryan were both on byes. I remember that being a hot topic last year, and it was the chief reason I went 3 deep with no "sleepers" at QB.Same boat but with Romo and Warner only. On the bright side, Lefty brings a lot of those 24-man rosters one step closer to mine.I was also a Romo/Warner only guy last year and survived that week where I had to take a 0. Started out planning to go with 3 QBs this year but they were generally so expensive - and not that spread out in price - that ultimately I decided this was the spot to take a risk. Started with a Schaub/Hill combo (some versions also had Leinart) - but got nervous about Schaub's injury history especially after watching him hang in the pocket too long in preseason week 3 against the Vikes. Went to Rodgers/Leftwich but had too many Week 5 byes so wound up with Peyton/Leftwich. Figured Peyton highly unlikely to get injured, pretty consistent, good schedule including weeks 14-16. Just needed Leftwich to last to week 6 and put up something decent that week. First 2 weeks were actually better than expected from him fantasy-wise, but I guess there's little reason to go with the veteran when team is clearly going to be in a rebuilding year. Anyway - unless you pick just right on sleepers, seems like you have to take a risk somewhere and QB is not a bad spot to do it.
Assuming i make it past next week, I had to go with a batch of Ravens all at home v CIN just to cover the week 5 bye. I also avoided J. Finley due to the bye.My Week 5 lineup:QB Flacco (A.Rodgers bye)RBs D.Willy, Parker, Leon Washington, Lendale, M.Bush (no byes)WRs Ochostinko, M Manningham D. Mason, K. Britt, I. Bruce, A.Davis (M.Colston, VJAX bye) TE: Heap (G.Olsen bye)K: Nedney or LongwellDef: Texans or Rams (Saints bye)How about this for not paying attention:My TE's are Greg Olsen, Jermichael Finley, and Jeremy Shockey, they all have byes on week 5. Awesome. I will probably be eliminated week 4, anyway.
I'll play alongRodgers/Pennington/Leftwich owner here... QB situation went from pretty sweet to week-five-is-gonna-suck in one week. Raheem Morris is a clown!I find these lists interesting, so here are the players who have scored for the team every weekarren SprolesPercy HarvinChris Cooley... and those who have yet to score for the team even once:Chad PenningtonGlen CoffeeChris HenryHakeem NicksRaiders D/ST

lol - true - although I'm sure he's on a fair amount of 20-man rosters too. Laurent Robinson probably hurts more 24-man rosters as well as one of those cheap sleepers. On the bright side, Lefty brings a lot of those 24-man rosters one step closer to mine.I was also a Romo/Warner only guy last year and survived that week where I had to take a 0. I have Brady/Flacco also, and am equally stunned to see who my #1 QB really is. Not that I didn't expect him to have a few big games, but 3/3 to start off? Really?I almost added Leftwich as my #3 for insurance ... glad that $4 went elsewhere! That's 3 weeks in a row Flacco has outscored Brady on my team. Not exactly what I expected so much.
If you only have Brady and Sanchez then you used Brady in week 1. He had 30.8 to Sanchez' 19.2. I've got the same QBs.So far I've used....
Mark Sanchez QB
DeAngelo Williams RB
Felix Jones RB
Ahmad Bradshaw RB
LeSean McCoy RB
Anquan Boldin WR
Marques Colston WR
Chris Henry WR
Justin Gage WR
Robert Meachem WR
Greg Olsen TE
Jermichael Finley TE
Chris Baker TE
Dan Carpenter K
Steve Hauschka K

Denver Broncos DEF
Haven't used Lynch or Schillens obviously.
Other noteable non-scorers....Graham, Davis, Camarillo, Oakland D, and BRADY. LOL at those 5 being in the same sentence.

IIRC the guy who won the whole shebang last year had Brees and Romo. those situations work both ways. makes you sweat the tough week, but if you survive, many others built with that combination don't. Living near the edge for a few weeks in the contest isn't a bad thing, as long as the situation causing it isn't prolonged....this coming from a Leftwich/Robinson owner...IIRC the guy who won the whole shebang last year had Brees and Romo. suddenly I've turned into a 22 man team...but I suppose I could have turned into an 18 man team...Agreed. That's why I don't really get when people post their weekly scores like "190 see you next week" and "210 omg #7 overall this week!" and whatnot. It doesn't carry over. IMO it's far better to make the cut by 0.50 each week than by 50.those situations work both ways. makes you sweat the tough week, but if you survive, many others built with that combination don't.
