I've said this before, but you'll just have to take my word for it. I've never trolled anybody.

You happen to disagree with my statement that you aren't a great team yet. Really? That's what your ticked off about now?

Where do I start? You don't have enough raw talent yet. You have a nice set of skill players, but none are elite. Great teams typically have an elite non-QB skill player(s). Ertz is a great FF TE, but he's not an elite talent. Think Emmitt & Irvin. Ds are so athletic now QBs can't do it alone. It looks like you have the QB which is a great start, though. Your front 7 on D is very good, but in today's NFL where games are mostly won through the air, you need to improve your secondary. I also have some reservations about Pederson being a long-term quality HC. He does some things that would irritate me as a fan. 

That's just the start. Main point to take away is I think you guys have a nice base, much like my Cowboys. It'll be interesting to see who can build on it quicker (or possibly falls apart & wastes the opportunity). That's why it was so important for us to retain Will McClay.

Couple things. 

It goes way back to the whole “America’s team” nonsense. I’m assuming you’re too young to really know about it. And the cowboys were good and winning. That’s where the Dallas hate began. It wasn’t just Philly either.

We don’t hate Dallas fans, it’s your city your team, go nuts. We hate the local Dallas fans. The guy I went to high school with that loves the cowboys because he liked the star when he was five and brags about it just to be a ####. Those are the Cowboy “fans” we hate, and there’s plenty of them around here.

Tell them I view the Vikings & Rams as the top contenders for the foreseeable future & all they got is to talk about the current season. LOL.

I like to engage in football discussion, but when you get called a troll for calling somebody a good team who might not be the favorite in 2018, it becomes an impossible task. :)

Good luck in the Superbowl. I typically root for the NFC team, especially if they're in our division. That's all I got.

Let's get the thread headed in the right direction with some actual talk about the game.

 
Imagine the joy of knowing that before Wentz got hurt, we had the number one team in the NFL and we don't even have 'elite talent' yet?  Watch out 70's Steelers, 80 Niners, 90's Cowboys, and 2000's Patriots. We're going to be good.  :lmao:

I was a HUGE Niners fan when I first started watching football in the late 80s.  Then I turned 11 or 12 and realized I'm from Pittsburgh.

You assume wrong. I'm quite sure I'm older than you.

Either way, America's team was a label by the media, but it's quite accurate statistically.

I get it irritates other teams, but if say the Pats had that moniker, I'd let it roll off my back like water on a duck.

It just wouldn't bother me.

To be clear, a healthy Bradford for them with his arm talent would make them the favorite with the Rams right behind them. 

My point is they're going to find somebody better than Keenum. They aren't dumb. They know what's missing. This is the right year to find a decent QB with the vet QBs who could be available as well as a strong rookie QB class.

I'm just assuming they don't go with Keenum. I believe they're smarter than that.

BTW, much of my high rating for the Rams has to do with McVay. That dude gets it. I wish we had him. I'm predicting big things for the Rams.

I'd probably put the Eagles at 3 right now. I haven't thought about it much, but they're a lot of good teams in the NFC. Of course, Jacksonville is looking like a potential monster in the AFC (especially with a quality QB).

I wouldn't take it personal. Other than the Patriots every team goes up and down. Think about it, this time last year you would have laughed if I told you the Falcons were the 4th to 6th best team in the NFC in 2017.

We have very different views of a great team. I think I'd rate you guys 3rd on what you've done this season, but there are several teams right on your heels going into 2018.

I'm leery of you guys repeating your success next season because you'll have a tougher schedule & I can see a drop on offense. The TD to yards ratio for Wentz simply isn't sustainable. I'm not calling it luck, but things just fell right for you guys.

I haven't analyzed what you guys need in the draft & it's not something I'll do, but a stud RB would do wonders for your offense, IMO. All I can say as a Dallas fan is I like seeing the RB rotations Pederson uses. Don't get me wrong, it's statistically effective, but I think it holds your offense back some. 

Just an observation. No harm meant, LOL. Anyway, I'd like to end this debate & get back to the game. 

Let's simply agree to disagree on some things.

Eagles have what, 20 out of 22 of the starters on this team signed thru 2019?

If this team minus Wentz, Peters, Hicks, Maragos, Sproles and Sidney Jones beat the Vikes and Rams this year......why wouldn't they be better than them next year and the year after?

My initial feeling is something like 30-20. 

Maybe quite a few FGs. I think it has the potential to be a blowout, but I don't expect one.

Could be close if Foles plays well again & they can run the ball. I see the upset probability at about 25%.

Decent chance for an upset, but Philly needs some breaks, IMO.

You say that you want to engage in football discussion, but I don't see any basis for why you say that the Eagles are behind the Vikings, Rams and Cowboys.  They have shown they have organizational depth, an excellent coach, a potential MVP caliber QB, a dynamic rushing attack, quality receiving corps, an excellent offensive line and perhaps the best defensive line in the league.  The arrow is pointing up on the Vikings and Rams, but the Cowboys need to fix their coaching and seriously develop their depth before they can even sniff the Eagles.

Last post on this nonsense, but I didn't say the Eagles were behind the Cowboys. In fact, I said just the opposite.

The only thing I said comparing them was we both have a good base of raw talent.

 
I originally was thinking Eagles by double digits but that was immediately after their blowout win over the Vikings so a little bit of recency bias there.  Then I thought about it a little more rationally and rarely have the Pats (under Brady and Belichick) lost by double digits in the playoffs.  It's happened 4 times - twice against Denver and twice against the Ravens.  Even their loss to that dominant Denver team from a few years ago came down to the wire (despite the 10 point difference and Brady getting creamed every other play).

Gronk Status still unclear. Here's to hoping he clears protocol in a timely manner, and the Eagles dont follow in Jacksonville's footsteps with cheap hits to knock out key players.

Not real sure the cheap hit card gets to be played on behalf of Gronk given that he is maybe THE poster child this year for cheap hits.  Still, I am with you, I hate any cheap hits.  Face up like a man, and when the play is ended, end things.  It doesn't make one a tough guy to ring up someone who is defenseless, it makes one a #####. 

How does one tell when Gronk is whoozy or goofy, and when he is just being Gronk?  Anyhow, I hope he is alright.  His dastardly act against Buffalo aside he always struck me as a good natured guy.  Maybe I am mislead, but I just like him.

I agree with this. Just too much SB experience for NEP.  If it's close in the 4th Q, New England wins.

 
I know Philly laments the loss of Wentz, but look at it this way. Foles simply may not be good enough to beat the Pats, but I highly doubt a 2nd year QB was going to beat Belichick with 2 weeks to prepare.

He hasn’t won 5 out of 7 Super Bowls for nothing. And that was with bad luck playing a big role in one of the two losses. 

A blind man could see Wentz has more raw talent than Foles, but maybe Foles (with more experience) handles Belichick’s craftiness better than Wentz would’ve.

Something to think about.

Lol. Foles on the road in the biggest moment of his career won't outscore the Patriots by 10 points. Case Keenum isn't on the opposing offense this time. While I'm not discounting the Eagles, I think it'll be a close game with Brady just repeatedly targeting the Eagles weak LB core all night long.

Yup I just addressed that.  I've changed my tune a little and agree that the game will likely be close.  The Patriots rarely lose by double digits in the playoffs.  I'm hoping for an Eagles win for several reasons.

Living in New York Giants country, it’s really odd seeing their fans so miserable this season. This game is the icing on the cake. It’s killing them to have to root for the Pats :lol:
