How's the studio Tiki? Speak up ....can't hear you. #####It's nice of ex-Giant TE Jeremy Shockey to make the trip to take in the game.
Agreed. Why wasn't Shockey on the sidelines?J
It's not uncommon for injured players to be in the stands/team box. Sometimes it's actually team policy set by the head coach. When Parcells coached the Giants, players on IR were strictly forbidden from being near the active players on gameday.
#15 Michael Jennings on the IR was on the sidelines with his teammates

My mistake. Watched again. Tyree's but was not down. His butt landed on Harrison. He was not down until his shoulders hit. Still clearly a catch, but I did not want to confuse the issue. I should have reviewed the play closer before posting.

Not your fault. I just got the first really good reviews of it on Sportscenter too. But my point is still valid, regardless of whether we argue about the catch, why the hell didn't the booth call down a review?

 I'm sure it's a player's decision. I understand a lot of the hate against Schockey, but I wouldn't get riled up over this issue.

How is that a catch?
Did that even get reviewed?
Yesno?
Wasn't reviewed because it was a clear catch
That's odd, because the replay I saw showed him taking a hand off the ball and the tip of it hitting the ground. The most important play in NFL history doesn't even merit a cursory look? The league should be ####### ashamed of themselves for that.
I also thought the tip of the ball touched the ground. Hopefully there will be a clear replay available online.
Doesn't matter if the ball was controlled before and throughout, which it was. What is your opinion as to whether there was interference on that play?
I'm not an expert on the rules. He definitely had total control of the ball but it looked like the tip of the ball scraped the ground when he held it over his head. Is this still considered a catch even if it hits the ground?
It never touched the ground, it was as clear as day when FOX replayed it.

Friggin' horrible.. a 10-6 team winning disgusts me.. a team that went 3-5 at home...They certainly played a great game and came up with some RIDICULOUSLY lucky plays in the end.....Super Bowl was just so similar to the 2001 Pats over St. Louis super bowl...I haven't been rooting for the right team in the superbowl since 2000... this is just another disappointment..I really wish they'd reduce the size of the playoffs because it's disgusting me seeing these teams with pretty mediocre playoff seasons turning it on at the right time and winning..2008 Giants2006 Steelers2006 St. Louis CardinalsThese come to mind off hand... I'm sure there's more...This is as frustrating as some stupid fantasy team that just gets hot and rolls through the playoffs.. and that keeps happening time and time again also.I've had it.I think the NFL should just have a points title and the Pats should've been VOTED champs a long time ago...I'm sick of determining it on the field.. the Pats already beat 'em once.. IN THEIR house.. should be best of 3.#### THIS.. #### ALL OF IT.
Want some cheese with the whine?

Last minute pregame thoughts...First, I hope that there is nothing done by the men in stripes that causes several multi-page threads here. I would love to barely notice the refs tonight. A good, clean controversial free game, first and foremost.Next, I hope the Giants play their brand of football, execute and play well, and stay healthy. I like the way this team has fought adversity thru the season and like the way they play the game. Finally, I hope the Patriots play to the levels they're capable of, the level they played at in the early part of the season. I want them to play like crazed men on a mission, leaving absolutely NO DOUBT as to who the better team is. I want no excuses. I want to see my team make history. I want to see 19-0.Here's to a great game, and a great season. I hope everyone enjoys the game. Stay safe & happy at your Super Bowl parties.
I got most of what I wanted, aside from the outcome. No excuses. The Giants beat them, straight up. Great game from the G-men. I never thought I'd say this, but 18-1 sucks. Congrats to the Giants and all the fans who rooted for them to win. It was a great, exciting, hard fought game. Till next year...

I think we've seen the last of Twitch. :goodposting:
What about Maroney = Speed?
Shhhh....silence is golden....and revenge is a dish best served cold.
JohnnyU, Syrus? Giants fans? If so... Congrats. If not, rubbing it in <> class.

Congratulations to the Giants and all their fans. Great win!
Back off. I'm simply saying that silence is golden in response to the trash talking by some Pats fans prior to the game. That has nothing to do with being classless.

If not, rubbing it in <> class.
What a joke. This coming from a fan of a team that ran up the score against every chump team they could and who has a convicted cheater coach. Spare us your lessons about class.edit to add: also a coach who left the field early in a cowardly act

Back off? I'm trying to congratulate fans that celebrate a victory. Are you one of them? Or do you only celebrate a loss of those who "offend you"

Simple question... Are you a Giants fan? If so, Congratulations on a great season and a tremendous game. Championships are forever. If you're not a fan of that organization, and only have a particular issue with the Patriots, rubbing it in is classless.HTH

Hey, I'm just enjoying the win for Eli and the Manning family. I'm a Colts fan and Patriots hater.

The Pats players were class all the way in their interviews. I think everyone was surprised that the Giants really just outplayed NE during the game (not by a lot though). Having more turnovers and winning is pretty shocking, but the defensive line really won the game for the Giants. Ironically, the one time the NE defensive line really pressured Eli was on the final drive.

Great game and what a run for the Giants...The 86 win was fun, the 90 was exciting, but this playoff run was an absolute blast. Had 9-11 crazy fans who were into EVERY play for all the games and it was the most football watching fun I have ever had in my life.

At the start of the 4th quarter I said, the Giants are playing for two things in my opinion, either I am going to be extremely proud of my team or I am going to be ecstatic...I a glad the latter happened.

Amazing how many people thought the Giants would implode in spring training and now they win the SB...

Peace!

Fair enough. Celebrate the positives, is all I'm asking.

:goodposting: Didn't see the post game interviews, but what the Giants did on the field was ( IMO ) very surprising. I didn't believe the Giants could slow down the Pats offense, but they went beyond slowing it down, but they shut it down. Great gameplan, great execution, and great heart shown by the Giants in this game. Congrats to the Giants and their fans.

look back at games the Patriots have lost and they are always games when the D is in Brady's face , this game was no different. I really thought with the full starting OL they could protect brady

So who eats the most crow here at the Pool? I remember HellToupee talking a lot about how this game would not be even close, be the worst super bowl ever, etc. I am sure there were others, I just remember that one being the most vocal

Patriots 42-Giants 17
I'm not even a Patriots fan

maybe I have it completely wrong...hold on

Heartbroken... that's all I can say right now. Just heartbroken.

If the Patriots kick that field goal instead of going on 4th and 13, there's no doubt in my mind that they win.

If the Patriots don't wait until the 4th quarter to open up the offense with 4 or 5 receivers with quick short yardage strikes, they win.

If Belichick throws the challenge flag on the recovered fumble in the first half, they win.

If Asante Samuel holds onto the damn ball, they win.

If Brandon Meriweather holds onto the damn ball, they win.

If Rodney Harrison holds onto the damn ball, they win.

The Giants played a hell of a game, and they clearly put themselves in position to win. But as dominating as they were on the line tonight, and as miserable as they made Brady, I can't help but think that the Pats choked this one way on both sides of the ball. Eli tried to hand this game to the Patriots on four different occasions in the final drive, and the Pats refused to take it.

Ugh.

I would have sworn it was ou that predicted a 52-7 score or something, but I can't find it so I must be mixed up. My apologies...

Sorry, but the Giants simply outplayed the Patriots tonight.

Its all about the plays. No sense debating, but...If Steve Smith grabs that ball in the 2nd quarter instead of batting it for a pick

If Steve Smith grabs that ball in the end zone at the end of the half

If the DBs turn on a few of those Moss under throws

If Webster doesn't fall down on the last pass to Moss

It goes both ways!
