***Official Super Bowl XLII Game Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Two prop bet questions: 1) Does anyone know if the coin flip was heads or tails? 2) does anyone know who got the first first down of the second quarter? The quarter started with the Patriots inside the ten. Maroney scored a TD early in the second quarter. The Giants then got the ball back, and got a first down. Does the TD count as a first down? Or did the Gians get the first one?
Pretty sure a TD is not considered a first down (although I could be wrong).
We've gone back and forth on this one. We asked the question before the game, and everyone said that a TD would count. Now, the only guy who said that NYG would have the first first down is now arguing that a TD shouldn't count. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
A touchdown doesn't open a new set of downs. I may be wrong, but I doubt it's a first down. You could use the NFL.com boxscore (UTD first down numbers) to cross check the play-by-play.

Regardless of the outcome of this game, or the recent controversy around the Patriots, I think we can all agree that the Giants not only were the best team in the NFC and belong in this Superbowl, but are one of the two best teams in the NFL. Another Patriots Superbowl, another nailbiter.

I don't think it's a first down either but if everyone agreed before the game that a TD would count then obviously it should count.

Millions of HUGE Pats fans (since 2001) are furiously navigating their way to NFL.com to get a sparkling new Giants jersey.

In the regular season, the Giants were average at best. Greatness in the playoffs doesn't not erase that fact.

You have to wonder if the NFL wants the Patriots to lose this game. A NE loss would calm the Spygate talks down quite a bit, while another NE title would only fuel it even more.

My Packers obliterated them too.....Just not when it counted. Giants turned it on at the right time.

And the Bears destroyed the Packers. Bears = Best team in the NFC.

haters. They were as good as anyone cept Dallas and the Pack during the regular season, better than most on the road. And it is all about scoreboard. When it counted, the Giants made it count, and Dallas and the Pack blew chunks.
