***Official Super Bowl XLII Game Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Look at all the classless people here tonight.
Get some new schtick, Sally.  :bye:
And you are front and center alice. Lmao @ doing a post search on me.
Here's a fun one:
Pats fans need to get off the high horse already. First of all, the whole beantown fandom thing has gotten silly. It is not about the teams winning - it is how people handle winning. And in the case of many beantown fans, they handle it rather annoyingly compared with other fans.

And this coming from someone who has to live around quasi yankee fans all the time (and some real ones who almost miss the days when it meant something to root for the team).

In the case of the Pats, its not that they are winning. It is to a degree how they are winning and most importantly, to many of us, how they seem to act when they are winning. It is off-putting to say the least.

Perhaps Pats fans should realize that there is more going on here than just a team dominating. As far as that is concerned, I am a big moss fan - I hope he catches 25 TDs this year.

The smugness of the team overall however, makes me not wish for, but certainly not mind, if bad things happened.

Hey, life's tough. We can't always pretend to be fairies and take what is perceived to be the high road.
"Boston fans are not going to apologize for talking about and talking up our teams."

One of the biggest plays of the game IMO was when Belichick went for it 4 and 13 from the 31 instead of going for the field goal. Why not try to put points on the board? I can see going for it if it's 4th and 3 or something but does he not have any confidence in his kicker to try a 48 yd field goal?

He goes for the points and makes it that game goes into OT.

How is that a catch?
Did that even get reviewed?
Yesno?
Wasn't reviewed because it was a clear catch
That's odd, because the replay I saw showed him taking a hand off the ball and the tip of it hitting the ground. The most important play in NFL history doesn't even merit a cursory look? The league should be ####### ashamed of themselves for that.
I also thought the tip of the ball touched the ground. Hopefully there will be a clear replay available online.
Doesn't matter if the ball was controlled before and throughout, which it was. What is your opinion as to whether there was interference on that play?
I'm not an expert on the rules. He definitely had total control of the ball but it looked like the tip of the ball scraped the ground when he held it over his head. Is this still considered a catch even if it hits the ground?
The ball was in his control and not moving. He went down to his butt, Play over. He rolled down to his back, play still over. his head rocked back and the ball got near the ground. I cannot tell whether or not it touched the ground, but it did not move in his grasp. Even had the play not already beeen over that would still have been a catch as the ground neither secured the ball nor shifted it, his constant control remained. Now, as to whether there was interference?

 to the mod who deleted the "classless" thread. Belichick's actions will be a major topic in the sports world tomorrow and for the next few months, but we can't talk about it here?

Bunk.

Wow. Just Wow. Best Super Bowl in the past 10 years. This is/was what we hope for when we watch an NFL game.Nice job Eli. Out of Peyton's shadow...
I dont think this was best super bowl in last 5 years... or last 10. Rams Pats, Titans Rams, Pats Panthers all better IMO.
It doesn't get any better than three lead changes in the fourth quarter of a Super Bowl.

Friggin' horrible.. a 10-6 team winning disgusts me.. a team that went 3-5 at home...

They certainly played a great game and came up with some RIDICULOUSLY lucky plays in the end.....

Super Bowl was just so similar to the 2001 Pats over St. Louis super bowl...

I haven't been rooting for the right team in the superbowl since 2000... this is just another disappointment..

I really wish they'd reduce the size of the playoffs because it's disgusting me seeing these teams with pretty mediocre playoff seasons turning it on at the right time and winning..

2008 Giants

2006 Steelers

2006 St. Louis Cardinals

These come to mind off hand... I'm sure there's more...

This is as frustrating as some stupid fantasy team that just gets hot and rolls through the playoffs.. and that keeps happening time and time again also.

I've had it.

I think the NFL should just have a points title and the Pats should've been VOTED champs a long time ago...

I'm sick of determining it on the field.. the Pats already beat 'em once.. IN THEIR house.. should be best of 3.

#### THIS.. #### ALL OF IT.

Congrats to all Giant fans on their team's victory. I'm a Patriot fan and have watched pro football for 40 +years and Steve Spagnoulo and Co. put together and executed one of the finest defensive game plans I've ever seen. of course Eli made plays when he had to. One concern I've had, especially in the postseason, was the lack of the Patriot pass "D" to stop offenses. Bottom line,..again it proves DEFENSE WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Congrats again to the Giants and fans....
Nice job man. Way to show up. Go get em next year..

Stay classless, stalker.

Moss postgame: "... I think their intensity from the beginning snap to the end of the game was really higher than ours ... we couldn't meet that intensity."

BTW, Patriot fans were unbeliveably cool during the playoffs.

(they get a bad rap, and I wanted to get some props out there)

LMFAO. Dude go watch golf or something..This is the way ALL sports should be. Parity is a beautiful thing man..

Pats fans had better quit calling Peyton and the Colts chokers, after the biggest choke job in league history, including the baffling choke job by Belichick to not kick the FG.

I sat in the snow and rain in Ralph Wilson stadium and watched the Giants fall behind 14-0 then turn it on and rally for a dominating win. Who knew it would lead to this?

Eli the piglet got lucky.
I hate the Giants...I'm dreading having to hear all the Giants fans for the next year as I go to work every day in Manhattan...I wanted to see history...I didn't think Eli had the goods or that the Giants had a chance. All that said, how ANYONE could have watched that game and come away thinking Manning was "lucky" is beyond me. The guy played his heart out, and made big plays in THE biggest moment of his career.

Certainly I would like to see no call there. I have often seen a flag on a play with that much contact before the ball arrives.

I felt horrible after Super Bowl 3. I threw my black and white tv I got for xmas out a 2nd floor window onto the concrete below. My mother beat the s--t out of me over that.Edited to say that I didn't watch the game on a black and white however.

Sry man, but that's what sports is all about. It can rip your heart out at anytime. This is what brings us back year after year. This coming from a Packer fan who thought my team would be in there playing the Pats..

Congrats to all the Giant faithful here.

Eli and your boys earned my respect in the NFC Title game, and you guys did the NFC and NFL proud..

Soak up the au jous and enjoy!

The 72 Dolphins had to play exactly the same amount of playoff games including the Super Bowl

That game inspired me. I just ran around a lake 2 miles away in about 10 degree weather!

Can't believe Eli.

LMAO @ Belichick at the end of the game. What a ####.
What happened?I'm not getting the full coverage here in Australia (breaking for local ads every freaking 10 seconds)
Belichick ran down the tunnel with two seconds left rather than shake hands with Coughlin at the end of the game.
That is absolutely not true. Were you watching the game? They shook hands at midfield immediately after the missed catch. The game was over.
You stay on the field until the clock hits 0:00. He still had players out there.Classless.
He did stay until 0:00. He and Coughlin shook hands and Belichick said 'congratulations'. You can't seriously be this desperate to find something to hate, can you?
Dude you are not watching the same game. Yes for a split second the clock read 0:00 when Belichick congratulated Coughlan but then the refs put a second back on the clock. That's when Belichick left without staying on the field to finish the game.

The old agage says that 'defense wins championships'. The Giants proved that tonight. Congratulations!!
Thank you, and you guys have been very classy with the exception of Maroney=Speed who has been running his mouth. Here's to the GMEN!!!!

How's the studio Tiki? Speak up ....can't hear you. #####It's nice of ex-Giant TE Jeremy Shockey to make the trip to take in the game.
Agreed. Why wasn't Shockey on the sidelines?J
It's not uncommon for injured players to be in the stands/team box. Sometimes it's actually team policy set by the head coach. When Parcells coached the Giants, players on IR were strictly forbidden from being near the active players on gameday.
