***Official Texas Rangers 2012 Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Hamilton with a missile.

I was just about to say, if Freddy shuts you guys out it might be time for a closed-door meeting.

I did like the fact Rangers fan caught josh's 2nd home run and not only did not throw it back, but was posing for pictures with ball.

BTW, throwing the other team's home run back is as tired as the wave. Let Cub fans have that tradition.

Dempster to not make next start. First excuse was that he didn't have his passport to go into Canada. Now it's coming out that he is having a messy divorce and custody battle.

I am starting to wonder when josh had his monster month and didn't get paid it sort of took the life out of things. It is either that or hangover from two long playoff runs.I'm not scared of LAA long term this year. They have only 3 real hitters that can hurt you. They got damn lucky to hit gold in their minors or they'd be 10-12 back.
3 hitters and 3 starting pitchers are sometimes all it takes.I'm not counting them out. Not with the way the Rangers have looked lately. Josh is completely lost up there. :(
:goodposting: Trout is doing stupid good things and seems to really be relaxing that team as a whole. The way Josh is looking and the way the pitching staff is taking longer and longer to get healthy, I will not count anyone out. Hell, even Oakland is putting on some pressure.
No, I definitely see Oakland as the bigger threat than LA right now.
Do you mind me asking why?Think of it in a playoff series. If pitchers and position players are all healthy, how do you not fear the Angels at least somewhat? I think they match up well against Texas. Pitching, hitting, base running, defense...the Angels are solid.

Too busy not talking in the Detroit thread.peace

Meanwhile in Arizona, Joey Gallo continued to extend the league home run record, hitting his 18th tonight..... Rangers have a shot for the playoffs - just two weeks left in the regular season then four teams vie for the League Championship
Called up to Spokane. Took a couple games to get a feel. 2 HR's tonight. 1 was a grand slam. Really like what this kid is doing.

Seattle is just as close to LAAAAA as LAAAAA is to Oakland. Greinke has been the FA bust of the season so far. I still fear them if they get in, but it is looking grim.
the Rangers are at the point where the math just works too well for them. At .500 baseball for the rest of the year(~40 games) the A's will have to play 2/3rds baseball to catch then even at 5.5 games out. this last bad period by the Angels has put them far enough behind where both the Rangers and As would have nearly go into free fall for LAA for have any chance at the division.

Good posting. Real close to busting out the Magic Number.

Threw this out in the TB thread, I can't decide if I would do it or not.

David Price for Elvis Andrus/Martin Perez/Cody Buckel
I wouldn't. I like Price a lot. Would not trade Elvis for him though. But I'm not answering that with a GM hat on, just my fan hat.
The argument for would be Profar waitingThe argument against would be not knowing how long it would take him to be equal to Elvis

However not sure the Rays wouldn't ask for Profar and another hitter - not sure Perez or Buckel have as much value to them as to other teams

At some point aren't they going to pay somebody something? Why assume Price isn't that guy?

Made my first trip to The Ballpark last night - great experience... Fans seem to really know their ####.

Good times

Mitch the ##### with a GS and 5 RBIs and he is not even the offensive player of the game.

Beltre is a locked in beast this series.

More good news from the Rookie Rangers:

CF Lewis Brinson (.301/.363/.565) belted his sixth and seventh homers including a grand slam. Brinson leads the Arizona League with 22 doubles, is second with seven triples and now trails only the departed Joey Gallo and Oakland's Matt Olson in homers.

Vlentine just sat on his hands in the 9th as a shot off the top of the Monster was ruled a HR.

I'm never going to his ####ty restaurant again.

Yep. 6:05. Dollar Hot Dog, and Norm is out in the Wedge.
How do we want to handle tickets for this thing? I'm going to the game tomorrow, so let me know if I should buy some in advance.

I'm game for whatever. I will defer to Cos on that.

Can we bury the Angels yet?
They're pretty much toast but still have a (very, very slight) chance. Those guys can get scorching hot. One of the streakier teams I've seen in recent years. With 6 games left between your teams that leaves a lot of room for LAAA pick up ground.

Making up that kind of gap with a team halfway up the ladder would be basically unprecedented with this few games remaining. There is also the little annoyance of Seattle being basically the hottest team since the ASB. Would be an absolute shocking collapse of epic proportions.

Yeah, the odds are incredibly slim. But it's still a chance. Who knew the AL West would turn into one of the toughest divisions?

The NL isn't on my radar. I don't even know who is in what division.

Did we make a decision here?

this wed is one of the games I have. just 3 though. was probably going to go. 9/10 times the single next to us is empty.

Is it really that far out of the question that LA finishes 4th in the AL West? Seriously. I think it just might happen at this point. Next 2 homestands are LAA then BOS.

I think Seattle really, really wants to finish 3rd and I think LAA is mailing it in. I could see it happen.Another thought on last night's game:Ogando - 1 IN, 2 Ks, 13 pitches (9 strikes)Adams - 1 IN, 2 Ks, 12 pitches (9 strikes)Nathan - 1 IN, 2 Ks, 14 pitches (10 strikes)That is insanely good.

I have two very upper deck seats for tomorrow. Wasn't sure if you guys wanted to just meet in the new outfield area to watch the game or what exactly. If anyone wants that extra ticket just to get in let me know.

I will probably just walk up and get a ticket. Will leave that for cosjobs or someone else who wants it. If it does not get taken by game time, I will grab it from you. PM sent with my phone number.

We should figure out a meeting place. Seems like the start of school has made tickets easier to get, so we could probably get something decent from a scalper for cheap. Or stake out the culdeus seats?

605 start is got me in a real bind.

I can't pull away until 530 which is totally ok for a 7 start. I'd rather not get there an hour into the game.

why is this one 605? Picked up for national? F them.
