Question for those who have completed the "Paranoia" quest, I think I just ####ed it up:

****SPOILERS*****

Galrthir has you follow three people.  The first two I tailed all day and there was nothing doing.  The third guy, the Davide wine making dude, I lost him for part of the day, and later that night Glarthir asked me about him, I told him that there was nothing doing and he got pissed and attacked me.  With his fists.  Hah.   I wiped my ### with him.   Now then, the part of the day when I lost that guy I was supposed to be tailing...was he really plotting against Glarthir?  What happens if you told him so?   In any case, I now have a house where I can store #### in Skingrad (Glarthirs had his key on him when I killed him).
No, that is what happens. I just really like the variety of quests. Not sure if you told him the other way.
It just depends on what you do. I told Galrthir that Davide was plotting against him, at which point he ran off to go kill Davide. I then told the city guard about it, and the city guard went and kicked his ###.
I told him he was plotting so he sent ME to kill him out in the vineyard, only problem is the bounty. How do you lose a bounty?

I was thinking about trying my Ice Touch spell - I need to work on my Destruction skill.
I found it works well on small stuff (rats, crabs, etc.) but if you're up against anything with more than a couple hp, you're better off with longranged stuff. Unless you've got enough hp to go toe-to-toe anyway...
The touch spells do much better as far as damage/magicka than their ranged counterparts. Another reason I hate the 8 hotbutton limit.

They're probably pretty good for a battle-mage, but any wimpy class is probably better off hitting them with a couple ranged spells before they get to ya, IMHO of course :) .

Anyone every get booted from the Mages Guild?

:bag:
Yeah, last night. Stole that chick's book in Bruma...
Me too the other day for stealing. There is a dude at the Univeristy that gives you a quest to get back in. You need to get 2 flowers (dragon something and red something) for him, 20 each I think. I didn't have that many of them and haven't done it yet. Anyone had to do this and know where they are?

dragon flowers I found more of in the southern part of the map; red could be a few things. You can look around in alchemical shops too, most will sell what you need, though there's usually only a couple dragon flowers in stock.

I have looked around and it appears to be a complete pain in the ###. Maybe someone with a guide can point us in the general area where they grow.

I got booted on accident (think I accidentally tried to pick pocket).Any clue were to find the regs. needed to get back in? Tried to buy some, but vendors only carry a few.
No idea. And come to think of it I think I got booted for accidentally pick pocketing too. When I tried to hand over the book I stole, I was still on sneak... dammit!

I like to dig myself out of these types of holes. But yes, I could load a previous save.

Once you get up a few levels you can make some pretty nasty spells. My current spell combo is a targeted spell that does 12 fire, frost and shock damage for 5 seconds. If they survive that and charge me, I've got a touch shock spell that blasts for something like 40 for 2 seconds. It's great fun to have them run up to you and literally fly back when you zap them. I almost feel guilty. :bag: Almost. I've just about got my destruction up over 100 so I can get some really nasty spells.

I'd agree with you most days, but little gaffs 'cause I'm not used to the controls yet usually get a pass. Oh, and when I killed a battlemage when he got inbetween a lightning bolt and the person we were fighting. Who runs in front of lightning bolts? Really now....

Nice. Have to say i love the lightning for the same reason. I bought a staff called Apotheosis from the staff shop in the imperial city. 33 fire/33 ice/33 shock all in one shot :nerd:

same, and I figured it would be a matter of doing an easy quest to get back in (a quest is a quest). More difficult since it is a gathering quest. Also, I advanced a little before I even went to see what I needed to do to get back in.

Goodtimes.

I have about 5 of each flower. 15 to go. I found some in some shops but none yet in the "field". I figured I would eventually run across some in my travels. It would be nicve to know where they are though.

Edit: It's dragon tongue and red-wart flowers BTW. I just calle dmy wife to get the names. I wrote them down at home.

I'm not sure on the red-wort, but I found the dragon flowers way south, around bravil

Finally upped alchemy and got the 4th ingredient list. Seems like invisibility is a very popular 4th choice. Now its just a matter of weeding out the crappy parts so I dont have potions of invis/damage health

So how much playing time HAVE you guys logged? I've had the game for about 2 weeks now, and I belive my save game says I'm about 17 hours in :nerd:

Has anyone found a mechant with more to spend than 1200 yet? Still working up to master of mercantile when supposedly all shops will have more to spend, but would like to sell some decent stuff for better than 1200

I have seen one with 5000, but I don't remember who.

When I fought the Grand Champion.. I had an empty Grand Soul Gem so I thought I would capture his... nope.. "You don't have a cool enough Soul Gem." :(

This is just a tip for magic users that I remembered serving me well in Morrowind. If you have a magic skill you want to upgrade, say destruction, create (I guess at the Arcane University? Haven't progressed that far yet) a ONE point spell, in this case, a one point fireball. That way, you can sit and cast a ton of these things at a wall or whatever sitting in your room in the inn and upgrade that skill fairly quickly. Needless to say, this spell should never be used in combat, unless maybe you want to fireball a rat for an hour while it hacks away at you and builds your light armor skill or whatever. But it's a great way to upgrade at a cheap price, kind of like jumping everywhere.

Made my first *big* oops in the game last night...

**Minor Spoiler**

Just joined the Fighter's Guild with my Ranged Assassain/Thief and headed out to deliver the weapons to the guys out at the Desolate Mine. Well, I sneak in there, as usual and have my Night-Eye ring on, and I notice 3 well armored "bandits" just inside. So I proceed to take them out, 1 by 1, but it's odd...none of them have weapons, just using H2H against me. Ok, whatever, so I proceed in. I take an hour to clear the dungeon, getting ganged up at times by 2 or 3 goblins at a time and really raising my Blade and Light Armor skill and loving it.

Only, when I get back to town, I get kicked out of the guild for killing a guild brother.

Those 3 guys that didn't have weapons, yeah, they were Fighter's Guild guys. :wall: Oops. Anyone get kicked out of the Fighter's Guild?

The price you pay for killing from afar

Crap, this game is too good. I just got another quest or 2 down. Anyone else doing The Collector quests? Pretty interesting.

Now level 14.

Oh, have I mentioned how much better this game looks on my X1900XT vs my X850XT?

Can you soul trap people in Oblivion? In Morrowwind it wasnt possible. On another note, has anyone actually "fought" the Grand Champion and not had him just say "Please kill me"? He looks like hed be a badass.

I fought him and he didn't say please kill me. However, as soon as the gate dropped, I hit him with like a 200pt Finger of the Mountain (I think that's what it was called) blast and he flew across the arena dead.

Did you do his quest? Finding his birthright?

Nope, I decided to kill him instead. He asked me to do it but I didn't ever complete it.

Interesting. I completed that quest, so it will be interesting to see what happens. On another note, I am trying to get my destruction up high enough to cast Finger of the Mountain.

Can you recall the minimum destruction needed off the top of your head? I have craploads of Weyland stones to use to recharge Magicka. I am only now discovering that little wonder in the middle of a firefight. Needed quite often in Aeylund ruins, too.
