***OFFICIAL 'The Following' TV Series Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I watched last night. I liked it. I feel like this season will be excellent and then it will fall off big time in upcoming seasons. But it will stay on my season pass DVR for this year for sure

Horrible television. Rushed and contrived. The cop chick with the huge chocolate chip mole on her cheek didnt help. Out.
I will agree on the mole girl. I know I have seen her before. She seems almost pretty, but that mole/complexion just seems like something you can't get by.
She's not in the rest of the series apparently, if that helps. Looks like her FBI presence is replaced by that Parker woman they showed in the preview of the season. Mole girl wasn't even listed on imdb for some reason. She looks really familiar but I didn't see anything she was listed on on imdb either so who knows.I thought it was decent enough for network TV. Cable serials that get to be more edgy have really pushed me away from regular network fare but nothing in the pilot turned me off of the show. Maybe if it craps out, FX can grab it and make it more R rated and have some fun with it. Despite all of the "pushing" that people have mentioned as a complaint, I like that they didn't go overboard explaining what Bacon's problems were, specifically. A few hints from the other characters, but no real forced exposition on why he's such a black sheep. Some pretty good restraint overall I thought, being as how a music video director did the pilot. And it pulled a pretty rare feat of eliciting some sympathy for a one and done character in Sarah. Should keep me interested enough until it's about Breaking Bad time.

I'm in. Carroll's ex is uber hot.
She's carving out a nitch for playing the ex.
:goodposting: Isn't she supposed to be back on Justified this season? Not a bad first episode. Considering there are only 15 episodes the show, I'll forgive the high speed of the first episode. They've set the tone for the show and put a good hook in with the boy being kidnapped. I expect it'll slow down for the next couple of episodes while characters are built and the plot is laid out. I'll keep watching.

just got around to watching it. how does it end? that's one of the things i think about when watching a show like this. what's the end game? if this cult is that big, it will never end.i'll give it a shot. it was about a 6 on a scale of 1-10.i never watched '24' so i decided i would give this a shot. we'll see.

That's what makes it perfect for a TV series. It can go on for multiple seasons unlike a Prison Break or even 24 where they have to contrive a new way to keep the premise going. Even if they kill Carroll, another charismatic killer could easily step up and take over leadership of The Following. Once you accept the (far-fetched) initial premise of serial killers working together, keeping it going is easy enough.Overall I really enjoyed it. A few plot points fail under scrutiny, but I try not to get hung up on minutia and just enjoy it for what it is.

Sporadically, but not a regular at all, thanks to this show.I almost turned the episode off after about 40 minutes. Most of the episode felt like a serial CSI/Criminal Minds procedural. But the premise has some promise.

I'm not terribly optimistic though. The general feel of the show, though, is still that of the other crime procedurals. Those crap shows are all huge hits, so I imagine 'The Following' will largely follow that blueprint. I'll watch a few episodes to be proven wrong though.

There's the good man, watch until the first slow episode complaining about plot holes and pace every week. Big fan of you folks  I liked it.

Just got around to watching this last night and I think it was pretty good. I'm sure it will slow down a little, but I enjoyed the fast pace of the pilot.

I liked the pilot...I'm in.I thought it was hilarious how long it took Kevin Bacon to make the connection with the word NEVERMORE in blood and The RavenDuh!

Mole girl was on Alcatraz last year. She was the lab girl who fell in love with the fat guy from Lost.

My theory:Joe Carroll's wife is in on it with him and it will be the big twist that will come in the "book" they are writing together which will really mind^$@#Kevin Bacon especially after they get back together and she betrays him.

Fine with me as long as I, (we) get to see her hooters.

:goodposting:I thought the same thing myself. The second ep was better than the first but it still has kind of a latter day Criminal Minds feel when I was really hoping for a more early Criminal Minds feel (before they had run through every possible criminal storyline). But without the interesting characters.I'll give it another episode or two. The Poe mask stuff was creepy but that's offset by my disappointment in their choice of using Poe at all. I don't see how his work could inspire that kind of deranged fascination in this day and age, and I'm also a Poe fan so I don't particularly enjoy this use of his work. Also, Kevin Bacon mispronounced "amontillado" in the last episode. > :(

I like how the fat #### cop was like a ninja all of a sudden.
Yeah that was pretty awful. Between that and the FBI's inability to actually secure a perimeter, this show is starting to lose me.
I hate bad writing but like Dexter this show entertains me, so Ill continue watching
I'm still on board, just worried they're going to continue taking lazy outs.
Yeah, the "so&so's a target, but lets leave em exposed" thang is spreading it thinner than even ninja fatsos

I like how it suddenly dawned on them that she could be a target

Not sure I get the last two replies. How can you guys say they didn't think of her as a target or that they left her exposed? I agree it was a bit much with the ninja act, but they had tons of officers at the house and the FBI got pissed at how the locals effed up the perimeter. Bacon wasn't suddenly seeing her as a target, he saw her house floorplan and realized that the cult probably figured out a way to get around the folks guarding her. The lady who was running the cops said something about not having any idea about spaces under AC units or some sort of way in they didn't know about.

Im talking about the fact they found her picture in the cult house (where Edgar Allen Poe was shacked up) and they were like OMG, we have to go to her house ASAP cuz shes a potential target.

They considered her a "potential" target from the beginning; they had a squad of cops protecting her 24/7. Seeing her picture pinned up next to the one of the girl the cult killed last week was proof that she was an actual target and likely next in line to be attacked.ETA: But I agree that it was clumsy the way the show handled it and it did make it seem like it just dawned on them at that moment that she may be in danger. I  when I first watched it as well, but I think they were trying to show that she was now in immediate danger because she was "next up" I the cult's plans.

OK, I think there were 2 things that happened. They saw that picture and realized that unlike the other girl (who survived) that Carroll planned to kill his ex-wife. They always saw her as a target and the police were there since day 1. I think they decided to ramp up security. The second thing that happened that got them in a tizzy to actually bum rush the house was when they were already there going through what they collected and Bacon saw the basement schematic of her house with some writing showing access points that obviously weren't well guarded.Maybe you got both, but I could see where someone could think that the picture in the house led to the bum rush, but they really didn't panic until they were already at her house and saw the schematic of the basement.

While so ridiculously obvious that something is going to come to a head there (no pun intended), it definitely won't be killing the kid, so I think this is completely plausible. The only thing stopping that is the jealous guy hates kids, so I am not sure he wants to be on the run with the kid. If I overanalyze it ;) I am almost thinking that it could be more of a case where the nanny attacks him as he is about to do something to the kid and somehow the bi guy gets killed in the melee.

Great idea leaving her alone in the interrogation room with her serial killer ex-husband. He could have bit her face off by the time they got in to help her. I'm enjoying the show and actually don't mind moments where we can laugh at the stupidity of the writing/directing. We did quite a bit of it during 24 and I can see this being similar.

I asked my wife what she had been in before. She said she didn't know. I looked it up, it was Passions :bag:

whys the fbi chick giving hannibal lecter the poe book
:goodposting: Was that an indication that shes part of his Following? I couldnt tell
That was what I took from it.
Kinda felt the same way but that was way too obvious.Another solid, creepy ####### week, still a big fan  I'll quit this thread with all the nitpicking before I quit the show, not sure why you guys bother to watch TV sometimes

don't see that.. But could see the new FBI lead being in on it.. Something strange about the book hand-off and the look they gave each other.
