I hope the finale shows that Joe actually had an influential professor himself, and they end the season by showing this 80-year-old guy in a beret strangling Joe in front of awe-inspired cult members. And Beret Guy ends the episode by saying something like "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times." and then he sneers at us, stabs Joe and licks his blood from the knife. Fade to black.

Because why the #### not at this point?
I'd prefer "It was the best of times; it was the BLURST to times" but otherwise :goodposting:

While out there, here is my guess. After he has to kill his neighbor and the FBI lady dies by a matter of seconds, Bacon goes off the deep end and becomes serial killer #2 and his FBI agent lackey becomes the lead to try and stop him next season. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they tried something like this either.

Good Lord, how dumb was Jacob? "We have a car, we can get away". Dude. You're in a cult of crazies. And she's a woman, so that's double crazy. And she's not only in love with the cult leader, but she's slept with him. Quadrillion crazy.

Yeah, as soon as he said that, I knew he was dead.

I swear they went to a High School somewhere and said "Write us a story, with every single clique ever used in any TV show and Movie and you have a job. We have Kevin Bacon as the star so writing takes a back seat."

I'd rather watch 10 shows written by the same people who write "The Killing" before I'd want to watch another show using these writers. :X

So much for hoping the Finale would be "The Finale!"

Will the events of the finale pave a clear path for The Following‘s already ordered Season 2? Or might they raise questions about how the show can go on?

“Let me put it this way…,” Bacon starts. “I think the ending is going to be shocking, but like with all good cliffhangers, there is also some stuff left up in the air.”
<_<
:lmao:
Are you freaking kidding me? Geez, those of us barely holding on by a thread might not even get a real conclusion? I have only kept watching because I wanted to at least see what the heck they were thinking and what the heck might happen. I will have to watch tonight, but if it is that open ended, I don't think there is any way I will watch season 2. I have watched some shows that got picked up and got better in the second season (Revolution seems to have learned from the reviews of the first season), but most of those didn't get worse as they got to the end of the 1st season.

I'm about to fire up the DVR. How angry am I going to be at this finale, on a scale of 1-10? I'm predicting a 9.

That finale was a complete and total mess. Pacing wise, acting wise, plot wise. And nothing worse than the overdone "leave victims bleeding as we fade to black" cliffhanger.

For a show that had glimpses this season it also sure knew how to misfire.

So, I got side tracked. I'm about half way through, this is still a massive #### show.

Sigh. Joe dies.

Season 2:

Oh wait! He planned it all, it wasn't him! The death hijinks continue! Tune in every Monday to see the FBI completely outsmarted by a raving lunatic and his crazy followers! It'll be great, we promise!

Dammit.

Terrible.
:goodposting:

They even went so far as to not show Joe on fire at all, even though he was in a burning room. Next season, it will be revealed that he dropped through the floor, and the remains found were from his twin brother. The FFA could write a much better show than this. We should contact them about next season.

Hey buried prematurely FBI lady, make sure you talk and talk and talk on that blackberry until you run out of oxygen and die, instead of using the built in GPS/cell tower triangulation to figure out EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE yourself so you can tell the gg's where to come pick you up!

:wallbash:

We're only 45 minutes away, and she has exactly 40 minutes of oxygen left. Yeah, this show pretty much sucks. Including the chick who stabbed them both at the end who had been on prison cameras multiple times. I kind of hate this show. This means that I will watch the first episode of a new season, but hate myself for it.

i dont see how bacon can come back . the lady already stabbed his gut up, she just slayed the slwhore then she finishes bacon off next.. does he have a gun strapped to his ankle?

Dude they had locked up in the room with Claire was there because he had matching dental records. After Joe killed him, they dragged him to the explosives warehouse (every lighthouse has one) and then somehow planted Joe's DNA on him, or he was possibly a relative of some sort. At the end, Joe played his part with the screaming, etc. but then dropped through the floor where he remained until the coast was clear.

At the start of the new season, we find that Claire is dead (a la Alien 3). Mike gets killed in the opener in some reminiscent Joe Carroll fashion, but Ryan Hardy and the boys can't figure out what's going on. We stumble through 3 or 4 episodes of murders with bright lights and flashing signs in front of Ryan's home reading "Hello Ryan, it's me, Joe!" while he tries to put the pieces together of who could possibly be doing this, until Joe finally reveals himself in person.

It's obvious why the dental records match.

The FBI forensics leader is a Follower. Duh.
I dropped the show but came in here to see how it ended. Isn't this how House escaped in the series finale? Switched dental records with a drug addict or something. Very original.

Pretty sure there's a reason the guy Joe killed never had his face shown and was in shadow the whole time. Didn't he have a mole on his face or something by his eye? Didn't the guy in the "Previously On..." segment that Joe said "I appreciate your sacrifice..." to have the same mole?

Just watched it tonight. Went about where I thought it would. Lady FBI dies just before they get there, Joe doesn't really die (not too ridiculously obvious why the other guy was there) and Hardy STILL hasn't ever looked at the people who visited Joe and seen his neighbor.

I told my wife here comes the neighbor as soon as Hardy said "I'll take Claire home." By the way, surprised not one post in here about how Claire was so stupid that she hopped into not one, but two cars with followers to go find Joey, yet when it was all over she could have cared less about going to be with him. I love you son, but now that Joe's dental records match and we are pretty sure Emma is gone, I need to go get some Bacon on my egg and cheese. See you next week and have fun with your new nanny.

I think for the sake of our sanity, we should assume that ninja prison guard doctored the video footage of Joe's visitors.

That would be interesting, except for the fact that they showed the FBI identifying a few people on video after the fact and as someone mentioned above that they even mentioned on the show reviewing it. It's kind of like the scene with Mike just missing seeing Roderick the first time. They should have just shown Hardy and team reviewing them and just as thhe neighbor was shown, someone asks Hardy if he wants cream in his coffee and when he turns back around her picture is gone. That would have been more in tune with the actual show. Oh well, I may watch some of the show in the Fall, it just depends on the previews.

When did they show the FBI identifying people from the prison video? And what they actually mentioned reviewing an episode or two ago was the video of Joe's escape.

They mentioned in the episode where they went to the shelter that they reviewed pics of all the people that visited Joe in prison to help them identify them.

Agreed up to Clarie and the son. It was predictable that the neighbor was going to be the cliffhanger at the end. The first thing the FBI would do when Joe gets loose and they find a cult is see who visit him. Can a serial killer even get random visitors like that?

However, they flew Joey to Washington DC for some reason could not remember. Bacon took Claire to his house and will catch a plane in the morning.

Ah ok, missed that part then. And I'm pretty sure the conversations would have been monitored as well.

It was such an offhand comment I dont blame anyone for missing it.

Ah, got it. That was the plot device to make Claire be at Bacon's apartment. It should be obvious that I was barely watching. That said, WTF is he going to DC and why wouldn't that be Claire's first priority? Also, wasn't this all in the same vicinity of some place in Virginia? NM, trying to think that deep on this show is not wise. I like the comedy idea.

I'll make sure I look for it when I pick up The Following: Season 1 on DVD.
