Ellie is unlikable. Hell, she doesn’t seem that smart and I keep expecting her to be for some reason.
She's super unlikable and pretty cringe. Getting close to tapping on this one, but with only two episodes left in the season I'll hang on. This season has been mediocre to bad for all but the second episode of the season and 3 minutes of Lalo Salamanca imo.
She accused Joel of being selfish. That’s exactly what she is. I really want to like her, but that has become impossible.
Telling Gail about what happened to Eugene was totally selfish. It didn't help Gail in her grief. It only helped her feelings of moral superiority over Joel.
Wasn’t that her point.

Always annoying when the only way way a show creates action/tension is characters making inexplicable dumb decisions. And that's pretty much all this show does.

In the middle of an active warzone outnumbered 1,000 to 1...but yeah...let's separate off and go have a casual chat in a theater while 1 person guards the door on the other side of the building. Makes total sense.

Ellie has never been in a boat in her entire life....but decides it makes sense to go zooming off across open water in a 10 foot row boat....at night...during a thunderstorm....twice.

It's like the dumbest moments in the history of The Walking Dead x 100 all fit into one hour long episode.

I didn’t realize video games had to reflect real
life, could Bo Jackson really not just run from side to side and never be tackled?

Apples and oranges. You're talking about the mechanics from a sports game from the 80's (which was limited by the technology of the time) vs basic logic and story telling.

"We need something to happen....let's have a character do something unbelievably stupid and illogical" is terrible, lazy story telling

Edit: I should clarify....I hate this strategy when they use it over and over and over again. People make 1 or 2 dumb mistakes and live to tell the tale. Making dumb irrational decisions is Elle's entire personality

We finished this season, it’s just kind of a drag. I don’t mind any of the actors or actresses left, their stories just don’t interest me now. Pascal is really an amazing actor as he’s just so engaging you want to see what’s next. Thinking I may just YouTube the scenes from the second game and call it a day.

That was pretty bad. I haven't watched or played the game, but is Ellie that unlikeable in the game? It's hard to stick with a series when the main character is continually making horrible decisions. There is nothing redeeming about her. Completely selfish, and her "I don't give a f###" attitude, got tiring 5 episodes ago.

I think the point was to break Ellie to the point she's no longer redeemable, allowing us to take another look at society via Abby in season 3.

They really missed on Ellie in season 2. In the game she has an insatiable desire for revenge and it really lacked this feeling in the show. I blame the writing more than anything. They are still writing her as a 14 year old girl instead of the 20 year old she is supposed to be. Whole season was disjointed and inconsistent.

I have no idea why they put the scene in with her washing onshore and being captured and almost disemboweled by the scars. Only to be immediately released when they’re attacked. That wasn’t in the game and added nothing to the show but fill 10 minutes.
Yeah, it was an unnecessary Deus ex machina moment. Sloppy.

Can't recall another show that was so good the first season, and so bad the second season. Even my kid (who loved the first season) thinks it's dumb now.

Westworld was amazing season 1 and fell off a cliff after that.

Well, can’t say this season was good but I will hang on for the next season. I’ve never played the game. Is there anything after Abby’s side of the story? Just wondering how many more seasons there may be.

The rest of the game is Abby's side, which leads to their final confrontation right there in the theater.

After that, there's a short epilogue. They may be able to squeak a very short 3 or 4 episode 4th season with that maybe, but not sure if they'd bother if the feedback is going to continue to be tough.

Felt the same way. Think I even said what the hell was the point of that when they all ran off. Like wouldn't you just kill her and then take off? Total waste of time.

Edit to add - I didn't realize that was the season finale until I read it here. Usually shows that I don't realize ended means it sucked. I think I agree with that. Thought it was going someplace...but no.

Just finished season 2. I really enjoyed season 1. I haven't read the comments to know what everyone's thoughts are on this season, but I thought season 2 was horrible. After that first episode I almost stopped watching. The tone from season one all of sudden felt like Gilmore Girls or something. Episode 2 was decent. The storyline for the entire season was just all over the map. I get flashbacks, but the storyline just didn't work for me. Just a disappointing follow up season to a solid season 1.

Perfect example. That first season of Westworld was fabulous. What a great concept. Then just silly.

Had no idea that was the season finale. And that was the final showdown??
The final showdown happens in that theater, yes.

We're about to go through that 3 day buildup to the theater scene again, now with a season as Abby and her crew as the main character.

The next time we see Ellie and Jesse burst through the door of the theater, we'll be on the other side of the door.

But, if you don't want to be cliff....hung for 2 years, just youtube the game scenes like Cappy said, if you care enough to see how it plays out.

Yea I’m starting that tonight.

So it seems like we are at the endgame now. Not going back to Wyoming I guess? Why did they show those spores or whatever in that pipe at the end of episode 1? They had a long slow focus on it.

Not going back to Wyoming (as far as game goes).

Yeah, idk what that was about with the spores. Seemed like they wanted to do something more with that, but never really expanded on it very much.

I only watched the 2nd episode this season to see how they handled Joel's death. They showed the vines in the pipe and I assumed that was what alerted the horde to attack the camp.

Man Abby in the video game is YOKED.

I feel like the Abby actress would’ve been better playing Ellie and the Ellie actress better off playing Abby.

You are talking about something else. The spores were in Seattle and they showed that people could be infected by breathing in the spores, not just only with a bite (minus Ellie).

I just went by the first post when he said "those spores or whatever in that pipe"

I guess my point is…what difference does it make if we aren’t seeing how it affects society as a whole and we’re just settling into a Ellie/Abby thing? I figured when they showed us that it was because they were setting up a scenario where it takes down the Wyoming camp but what do I know.

It’s entirely possible they did the spore thing to setup a “cooler” death of the bald girl and that’s it. I didn't play the game but from the posts in here it sure doesn’t seem like we’ll get much more beyond Abby’s POV. If so, that will be really disappointing.
