***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (2 Viewers)

I have zero interest in watching a spinoff. Ive grown to know THESE characters? Why become invested in all new characters for essentially the same story?

I'm very interested if what they say is true this is more of a prequel series taking place during the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse.

For one, these characters kinda suck.

Second, if they can make a billion shows about navy criminal investigations we can handle another zombie show.

wouldn't make sense watching this when you think all the characters suck.

there are like 50 people in the SOA thread that hate the show with a passion ...but cant get enough of it and cant stop posting about it....very strange

I'll probably check it out due to curiosity but I agree I'm totally invested in the characters we have now. I'm not interested in watching a new group. The show's gonna have to be pretty amazing for me to want to get invested in a new group of characters trying to survive in this world.

I am sure I'll watch it regardless. I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic shows. I have no interested in watching NCIS: Omaha or CSI: Tuscon or Law and Order: Special Crimes Really Obtuse Triggered Undercover Murder. If they make it different enough and have some decent characters, I'll tune in. Not sure how they are going to do that, but I'll give it a lot of rope.

It's our own modern version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

When I say they 'kinda suck' I mean they are less interesting than they could be. I'm getting to the point where Carl is my favorite character because at least he can show some growth still. The rest of them are pretty much caricatures now.

I'm looking forward to the new show having characters with a little more complexity. Doesn't matter since I'll watch anyway, just like most fans of TWD.

It really is odd. Maybe they bought one of those remotes without an On/Off switch.

some shows are fun to watch, but absolutely horrible.

I've never seen SOA, but shows like Homeland, Dexter, True Blood, and even Walking Dead ('ello, guvnah!) are worth both watching and ridiculing.

I guess. We've had this discussion countless times in this thread. For me, if I hated a show as much as some people in this thread seem to hate this one I'd find something else to do with my time.

I stopped watching SOA after the 3rd season. However, if it had taken place in a post-apocalyptic world I would have watched it until the bitter end.

It happens across all types of topics too, not just tv.

It is some dynamic where people seem to feel the need to make sure if they don't like something, that anyone else who might like it has to be crazy and be set straight. That dynamic ruins thread after thread after thread, be it sports, movies, music, tv etc.

I mean why not just say "it is not for me" and go find a topic you enjoy instead of pounding and pounding until the threads all turn to crap?

andy- and others- I genuinely like these shows, but I also like talking about whatever ridiculously bad things they do. I don't want a separate thread for the ridicule... too lazy. mea culpa.

That makes a lot of sense.

This. Maybe they can find a decent actor or two for the spin-off.

Is it me, or does that seem kind of forced?

Never seen this before. The local FOX affiliate showed the first two episodes of Season 1. Just had never seen a major Network affiliate syndicate a basic cable show. But TWD is so hot right now.

Also, seemed so weird seeing Rick clean shaven and looking really young

It was forced. After Special Crimes it was way too hard to finish the rest, but I had to finish what I started.

No, I liked it. But it reminded me of "Agents of Shield" or one of the Marvel movies when they were talking about what Shield stood for and someone commented "Sounds like someone really wanted to use the name Shield". It sounded like you really wanted a show that was called "Law and Order: SCROTUM"

I wouldn't mind a spinoff from a group in a different part of the country making it known they are going to some destination and having this crew heading to same destination and ultimately having them meet up.

Does anyone watch Z nation on SciFi? It doesn't seem to be getting any buzz at all and I was curious if it is worth my time.
Been meaning to catch it, saw just a few minutes of it the other night. I wasn't impressed. The acting was pretty bad. I'll need more time to form a better opinion, but from what I saw, it was typical SciFi crap.

It is absolute crap, but kind of amusing to watch in a SyFy crappy way. It in no way is competing with TWD, it is just a zombie TV series.

They're literally doing a zombie-nado next week.

I find it humorous and enjoyable.

The dialogue in Z Nation is pretty well done, for a campy rendering of zombie TV.

The premiere party looked pretty cool. I saw an interview with Andrew Lincoln where he talked about how there are now 14 people in the primary cast. He called it an army. Based on all the previews I've seen he may be dropping some foreshadowing, especially with a season tag line of "Hunt or be hunted."

I don't have cable, and only steam Netflix and Amazon. This will be the first show (in 4+ years) that I'll purchase every week just to watch. I can't wait until October 2015 for these episodes to pop up on Netflix.

awman Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who started last season as a peaceful farmer and ended it by biting an assailant's jugular, is not going to his death quietly.

"He found himself in a place where he's able to be a father but also a brutal warrior. He's probably the most formidable Rick we've ever seen," Lincoln says on the set.. As the season starts, "You find him in a dangerous and powerful place, even though they're probably at their most vulnerable."

Rick is different now, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd says. "He's embraced the fact that the rules have changed. You either accept what it takes to survive or you and your family won't be around very long."
